Abstract

Animation has many benefits such as clearer and attractivelearning, the learning process is more efficient, effective because students canrepeat it as needed, can improve the quality of learning outcomes, and can overcomethe limitations of space and time between teachers and student.This study of learningmedia in the form of animated videos will be very helpful for teachers and students asan attractive learning media and make it easier for students to learn and understandEnglish subjects, especially in speaking skill on descriptive text material. The type ofthis research are research and development (R&D). The models of this research areADDIE model. There are five steps in ADDIE model; analysis, design, development,implementation, and evaluation. Assessment on video animation by media expertsand material experts gets a percentage 79% and 82%. Students and teachers gave apositive assessment that is 82% and 96%, each assessment was in the very goodcategory.

Abstract

Cohesion is the relation between one sentences and another sentence, it refers to the meaning in the sentence. Cohesion is divided into twotypes; grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion. This research analyzegrammatical and lexical cohesion types in the song lyric of Q1 Album by Gamaliel.The objectives of this research were to identify the kinds of grammatical and lexicalcohesion found in the song lyric and to know the most dominant type found.Descriptive qualitative method was used to classify and analyze the data. Thisresearch applied the theory of Halliday and Hasan to identify the types ofgrammatical and lexical cohesion. The researcher found 217 cohesion items whichconsist of 181 references, 1 substitution, and 16 conjunction in grammaticalcohesion. While in lexical cohesion, there are 11 reiteration (9 repetitions, 1synonym, and 1 general word) and 8 collocations. The most dominant type ofgrammatical cohesion is personal reference with 121 items or around 55.7% andrepetition with 9 items or around 4.1% in lexical cohesion.

Abstract

Derivational affixes are affixes that are added to root words to produce new wordsthat have different meaning or part of speech. The objectives of this research areto find out the derivational affixes in The Hunting Party novel by Lucy Foley and toexplain the formation of words containing derivational affixes found in The HuntingParty novel by Lucy Foley. The research design of this research is descriptivequalitative. The data are analyzed by separating root words and affixes based ona list of words containing derivational affixes in the table, classifying words thatcontain derivational affixes based on their part of speech, and drawing theconclusions. The results of this research show that derivational affixes found in TheHunting Party novel by Lucy Foley are a-, un-, im-, dis-, in-, re-, over-, pre-, under-, pro-, non-, dys-, ir-, il- as prefixes and ly-, -tion, -ship, -ment, -less, -ion, -ate, -ence, -ity, -ness, -ful, -er, -ably, -ary, -able, -ation, -ish, -ison, -ous, -ive, -ant, -ure, -al, -ize, -ically, -ance, -ty, -ing, -ent, -hood, -cy, -ible, -y, -en, -ious, -ar, -ic, -tic, -age, -sion, -ine, -eous, -let, -ery, -ian, -ist, -by, -or, -ism, -ior, -ory, -cise as suffixes.The total number of words containing derivational affixes in The Hunti ng Partynovel by Lucy Foley is 852 words. In the formation of words containing derivationalaffixes, there are several rules, such as the final letter of the root word beingomitted, changed, or adding a letter before the affix is given.

Abstract

Derivational suffix is a part of linguistics learn about word whichadded by affixes may change the meaning and the part of speech. This researchdeals with the derivational suffix of song lyrics. The researcher focuses onderivational suffix types and function. The objectives of the research were todescribe types and function about change class changing and class maintaining inderivational suffix in song lyrics. Descriptive qualitative method was used toanalyze the data. The techniques used in collecting the data is documentationThis research applied the theory of Plag (2002) to indentify the types ofderivational suffix. From the analysis, it is found that 36 derivational suffixesdivided into 3 types, 21 nominal suffix (is –er, -tion –al, -al –ment –ion –ion, -ment –ion –ence -tion –er –ity –ity ––ness –ion –ity –ion, -ist –ette, -age), 10 adverbsuffix (-y, –ly, –ly, –ly, –ly, –ly, –ly, –ly, -ly, -ly), 5 adjective suffix (: -ful, -ly, -y, -ual, -able). The suffixes which found in the data have 31 word class changingand 5 class maintaining,the researcher conluded that suffix –ly give manycontributions in the suffix found in lyrics of album.

Abstract

The research discusses about main characters in “Beauty and The Beast” Movie. Maincharacters is the figure whose story is prioritized in a literary work in question. Because thatis the most widely told character, both as the perpetrators of events and those subject toevents. The objectives of this research are to know kind of characters in beauty and the beastmovie and to explain how are the main characters described. Character in movie is the objectof this research. The main character is the subject of this research. The method of thisresearch is Descriptive Qualitative research. The result of this study are found 6 kind of characters, 2 main characters and 10characters. Kind of characters consist of protagonist, antagonist, dynamic, round, static andflat were 13 data, main characters consist of Belle and the beast and characters consist ofhumble, friendly, curious, helpful, loving, brave, struggle, angry, arrogant and feel guilty were10 data. Based on the data it can be concluded that in beauty and the beast movie only found6 kind of character and 10 characters except main characters only 2 are analyzed.
