Abstract

Purpose of the study: To describe the motivation of Pre Service English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Teachers to Become Teachers in Turkey, to determine the effect of gender on the motivation of pre-service EFL teachers to become teachers and to find out the influence of the community on a pre-service EFL teacher's decision to become a teacher Methodology: This study was conducted according to a mixed research method. The researcher analyzed the Quantitative data with the SPSS program (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences). In the SPSS program, the researcher created three tables, which are the answer to research questions. The researcher analyzed qualitative data by Computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software (CAQDAS) Quirkos Main Findings: Participants were very excited to become English teachers because they were going to become English teachers; furthermore, during the interview, all participants stated that society influenced their choice of profession. In addition, according to the quantitative data, it appears that the participants were motivated by 9 factors to choose teaching English as a career choice. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study was conducted in one of the state universities in Turkey participant number was limited for this study. Also, this study was conducted in a short time. Due to the limitations, this study’s findings and conclusions can’t be generalized. More detailed and long-lasting studies should be carried out to understand the motivations of pre-service EFL teachers to become teachers.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The purpose of this research is to find out students' digital literacy abilities and find out what actions are appropriate to take in order to increase students' digital literacy. Methodology: This study used a class action research method with the Jhon Elliot research model design. This research model consists of a cycle in which there are several stages, namely design, implementation (action), observation, and reflection Main Findings: The findings of this research is that students' digital literacy skills in the first cycle with conventional learning models are dominant in the bad category. Then in the second cycle by using a project-based learning model and utilizing technology directly it is known that students' digital literacy has increased where it is more dominant in the good category. So that the actions that can be taken by educators to improve students' digital literacy are by using a project-based learning model that is supported by sufficient learning media. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this research is that it was conducted at the vocational high school level, then focused on appropriate classroom actions to increase students' digital literacy in Indonesian language subjects.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aimed to produce scientifically based mathematics handout products and inquiry strategies on opportunity material in class seven which is valid according to experts, and to determine the effectiveness of the learning process. Methodology: This type of research is design and development research using the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The instruments used in this study were: (1) validation sheets for material experts; (2) validation sheets for handout design experts, both of which are used to assess the feasibility of teaching materials; (3) teacher response sheet; (4) student response sheets, these sheets are used to assess the validity of teaching materials; (5) student observation sheets about student activity, used to see student activity; and (6) post-test question sheets, used to see the effectiveness of the learning process. Main Findings: From the analysis carried out on the final test of opportunity material, the average post-test score was 93.3 with a percentage of student completeness of 82.5%, and the results of observations of student activity in learning were 73.32% in the "good" category. The study results show that the learning process using scientific-based mathematics handouts and inquiry strategies runs effectively. Novelty/Originality of this study: The latest update in this research is to develop a scientifically based mathematics handout and an inquiry strategy on probability material. There has been no research on developing scientifically based mathematics handouts and inquiry strategies on opportunities. Therefore, this study complements previous research.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to develop an affective assessment instrument based on Krathwohl-Anderson taxonomy in class XI on hydrocarbons and petroleum and to find out the teacher's response to an affective assessment instrument based on Krathwohl-Anderson taxonomy in class XI on hydrocarbons and petroleum. Methodology: This research is a development research with the ADDIE development model. This research was conducted at SMAN Titian Teras Jambi with 10 class XI teachers as subjects who were obtained by purposive sampling technique. The instrument in this study was a teacher response instrument in which quantitative and qualitative data were processed using descriptive statistics and the Miles and Huberman technique. Main Findings: The affective assessment instrument based on Krathwohl-Anderson taxonomy in class XI on the developed hydrocarbon and petroleum material was declared valid and feasible to use. Furthermore, the teacher gave a very good response with a percentage of 60% towards the affective assessment instrument based on the Krathwohl-Anderson taxonomy. Novelty/Originality of this study: The latest update in this research is to develop an affective assessment instrument based on the Krathwohl-Anderson taxonomy on hydrocarbon and petroleum materials. There are no studies on the development of affective assessment instruments based on the Krathwohl-Anderson taxonomy. Therefore, this study complements previous studies.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: The purpose of conducting this literature study research is to discover the character of students' love for the motherland in science learning. Methodology: The method used in this research is a literature review. This study was conducted by reviewing 25 articles on the topic under study. Data analysis was carried out in this study using a synthetic matrix. The synthesis matrix is a technique for processing literature study data by interpreting it in diagrams or tables. Main Findings: The character of love for the motherland is a character that shapes students' attitudes to have a sense of nationalism, compassion, and respect for the country. Love for the homeland is perfect to be implemented in science learning, so it can make students appreciate everything done in learning and put forward common interests. A sense of love for the motherland in science learning must be instilled in children early to become human beings who can respect their nation and country. With love for the motherland, students prioritize public interests that are group in nature compared to personal interests. Novelty/Originality of this study: A literature study on love for the motherland will show the importance of the character values of love for the homeland in science learning. So the character of love for the motherland is essential for students.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to describe the environmental care character of students at the elementary school level. Methodology: This research is qualitative research with a systematic literature review type. The data in this study is secondary data in the form of research results documents related to this research. The population in this study was obtained from the Google Scholar site with the selected article criteria related to the search keywords. The total population obtained is 25 articles from Google Scholar. Main Findings: The main findings explain the essential factors in instilling the Caring for the Environment character in elementary school students. By caring for the environment, students can recognize the types of waste according to their group. The impact caused by students, besides making students comfortable learning, also helps students get used to living healthy and clean. Novelty/Originality of this study: This research seeks to describe the character of caring for the environment through literature studies from previous studies on caring for the environment in elementary schools.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to determine students' abilities with the use of web-based physics teaching materials at the high school level. Methodology:This research is a qualitative research with a systematic literature review research method. The population in this study were 55 articles obtained from Google Scholar with publications ranging from 2017 to 2022. Meanwhile, the sample in this study were 10 articles related to the title of this study. Main Findings: Through the analysis and review of the articles carried out, it can be seen that website-based physics teaching materials are a form of innovation that teachers can use to support physics learning. The use of website-based physics teaching materials can support the ability to think creatively, independent learning, scientific literacy skills, learning outcomes, and competency achievement. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this research is the discovery of an innovation for educators in achieving learning objectives and supporting students' abilities, namely through the use of website-based physics teaching materials in high school physics learning which is a good innovation used to help teachers achieve learning goals and support students' abilities.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: In analyzing the relationship between the influence of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) learning model based on ethnomathematics learning at Gedongsongo Temple on the creative thinking abilities of class IX junior high school students regarding self-confidence. Methodology: The subjects of this study were Junior high school 1 Jambu students. The research method used is quasi-experimental and posttest-only control design research. Data collection techniques using test and non-test instruments in the form of questionnaires. Quantitative data analysis begins with a prerequisite test using the normality and homogeneity tests. Test the hypothesis using the proportion test and test the regression analysis. Main Findings: There is a difference in Creative Thinking Ability and a difference in self-confidence which is more increased in applying the problem-based learning model based on Gedongsongo Temple ethnomathematics in class IX junior high school students. Thus, there is a relationship between the influence of the Gedongsongo Temple ethnomathematics problem-based learning model on the creative thinking abilities of class IX junior high school students regarding self-confidence. Novelty/Originality of this study: The expository model through the teacher-centered approach is believed to be unable to empower students' creative thinking abilities and self-confidence, so creative thinking skills and self-confidence are still low, and students do not play an active role in the process of studying the material in class. Therefore, there needs to be an update using the PBL model with ethnomathematics to improve creative thinking skills.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aimed to produce multiple intelligence-based science worksheets on temperature and change material, then to determine students' responses to science intelligence based on multiple intelligence. Methodology: The research method used is the Research and Development (R&D) method and uses the Borg and Gall development model. This study's test subjects were Junior high school 1 Jambi City students. The research instrument was a validation questionnaire from the expert team and a student perception questionnaire. The specialist team's validation questionnaire data analysis technique used a qualitative description. The student questionnaire data analysis technique was used using a rating scale which was then interpreted qualitatively. Main Findings: After validating the material once and validating the design three times, the Multiple Intelligences-based Science Worksheet is worth trying and gets an average percentage of student perceptions of 82% which states that this worksheet is in the "very good" category. Novelty/Originality of this study: Know the implementation of science student worksheet based on multiple intelligence materials temperature and their changes. The impact of this research is as a reference for further research to carry out further research. Then this research impacts educators and teaching staff in improving and increasing student learning literacy and learning resources.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This descriptive study aims to analyze science learning based on students' High Order Thinking Skills, which can be seen from the thinking skills of students in junior high schools. Methodology: This research was conducted at Junior High School State 21 Jambi City using a mixed research method with an explanatory analysis design with two instruments instrument for the quantitative approach and interview sheets for the qualitative approach. The research subjects were 58 students of class VIII. The concept tested is material about lens refraction, divided into ten questions. Main Findings: Five indicators tested are the ability to provide essential explanations (MPD) and strategies and tactics. After analyzing the student's answers, the average MPD skills were 2.40, and strategy and tactics were 2.48. This critical thinking skill is good because the teacher also provides space for students to be active in learning so that students often ask questions and analyze the material presented in learning science. Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty of this study is that analyzing HOTS-based science learning can improve students' critical thinking skills so that students can be active in asking questions and analyzing the material. With necessary thinking skills, students can be more open to differences of opinion, and students can still be objective with the sources of knowledge that they have before.
