Indonesian Journal of Educational Research and Technology (IJERT) promotes research in the broad field of Education Research and Technology (including such disciplines as Agriculture Education, Environmental Science Education, etc.) with particular respect to Indonesia, but not limited to authorship or topical coverage within the region. Contributions are expected from senior researchers, project managers, research administrators and PhD students at advanced stages of their research, representing both public organizations and private industry. Equally, the journal if intended for scholars and students, reseachers working at research organizations and government agencies, and also for enterprises undertaking applied R&D to lead innovations. As far as the criteria for evaluating and accepting submissions is concerned, a rigorous review process will be used. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze Biology textbooks as a source of scientific literacy. To support the research, the authors use descriptive research methods and a cloze test evaluation sheet to evaluate the quality of the books as a source of scientific literacy reading in terms of the scientific literacy category. From the research results, it is found that there are differences in the components of the contents between book A and book B.

Abstract

There is a need for a method that will shift the attention to the learners, while the lecturers play the role of facilitator of learning. One of the methods that can promote this learning style is Study Technology. Study technology is a student-centered learning technique that helps the learner to study successfully by providing solutions to all barriers encountered in the process of studying. This study investigated experts’ Evaluation of flex billboard on study technology for teaching and learning.  The findings established that the flex billboard is efficient to create an awareness on study technology and it can be operated without the use of electric power supply. It was however recommended that curriculum planner should include in its curriculum, orientation programmer for the pupils on study technology as this will aid or enhance learning process.

Abstract

This study investigates the factors affecting distance learning for Physical Education students. It used a descriptive method and a survey questionnaire using a google form to gather the data of the thirty-three second-year students.  Results revealed that the said students have low motivation in doing their tasks such as assignments, reports, assessments, demonstrations, and oral recitation.  In the perception of the students in terms of social presence and social interaction, they were dissatisfied when it comes to online discussions, conversing, interacting, participating, and speaking online. The students also preferred face to face mode of learning and this implies that future researchers should conduct and make a program that will help to make the students motivated in distance learning. The school administration especially the Bachelor of Physical Education department should implement more strategies and programs to increase the level of motivation, social presence, and social interaction of the students in today's distance learning due to the pandemic condition. The Commission on Higher Education should reduce and limit the number of students in each class as to approve the limited face to face class for the Physical Education students so that they may be able to do the task with proper execution and can be a big impact on the level of motivation, social presence and social interaction of the students, especially that these students preferred face to face mode of learning than online learning.

Abstract

The Sudanese education system, in recent years, has seen a significant expansion because of the significant increase in the numbers wishing to learn. There is a necessary need for expanding educational services to cover this vast number of scholars. The existing service is showing a clear deficit through physical, human, and spatial limitations. This illustrates the necessity to employ modern technologies such as mobile devices (iPad) to support education. Therefore, this paper seeks to review the use of mobile device (iPad) technology in education and explore the opportunities and challenges of utilizing iPad technology in the education system of Sudan. This paper reached to the use of mobile device (iPad) technology in the Sudanese education system providing opportunities for networking learning, social learning, interactive learning, and distance learning.  There are several challenges facing the utilization of mobile device (iPad) technology in the Sudanese education system in which the delivery of information by traditional methods is better than the use of mobile learning, there is no clear plan for the usage of mobile devices by the competent authorities, lack of training to use and employ the mobile learning. The paper recommended providing facilities to improve opportunities to incorporate technology into the Sudanese education system.

Abstract

This study examined the social influence and facilitating condition as determinants of secondary school teachers’ behavioural intention to use mobile technologies for instruction in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The study adopted descriptive research of the survey type to 958 teachers in Kaduna State, Nigeria. The findings indicated there was strong relationship among teachers’ social influence, facilitating condition and behavioral intention to use mobile technologies with ANOVA value of F (2,956) 61.53 p 0.05, F (2,956) 28,786 p 0.05 and F (2,956) 5.152 p 0.05, respectively. The study concluded that teachers' social influence and facilitating conditions influenced their behavioural intention to use mobile technologies for instruction. The implication is that there might be an improvement in teaching and learning at secondary school if mobile technologies are integrated into teaching. The study recommended among others, that secondary school teachers should help themselves by making use of mobile technologies for instructional purposes and shift their focus from using them for fun and entertainment to improving instructional delivery.

Abstract

This study determined the utilization of e-resources for learning among undergraduates. The study adopted descriptive research of the survey type. The population for this study consists of all National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) undergraduates. Proportional sampling techniques were used to allocate many respondents in each NOUN centre based on their estimated population using Israel Model. The instrument for data collection was an adapted questionnaire. Descriptive and Inferential statistics were used to answer the research question and test the stated hypotheses with the aid of statistical product and service solution (SPSS) version 20.0 at a 0.05 level of significance. The findings indicated that undergraduate students had positive utilization of E-resources for learning. No significant difference exists in the undergraduate students’ utilization of E-resources for learning based on gender and digital age. The study concluded that learning can be enhanced among undergraduate students if appropriate resources are deployed for learning. Therefore, it was recommended that undergraduate students be encouraged to deploy e-resources for learning irrespective of their gender.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the rise in online gaming and the absence of face-to-face education in schools has raised worries about the effect on students' academic performance. This study aimed to find out the relationship between the level of online learning and the academic performance of BPEd students. It is in this light of this study to assess the level of impact of online games to the: (1) health aspect, (2) social aspect, (3) intellectual aspect, and (4) academic performance of chosen BPED students at Sultan Kudarat State University Access Campus. The researchers employed a descriptive-evaluative research approach since the study's findings would analyze students' engagement in online gaming applications, and the researchers used Google Forms to collect the data they required. With a total of thirty respondents, the set questionnaires employed will act as a data collection tool. Frequency count and weighted mean were the statistics employed in the investigation. According to the survey, the majority of the respondents are in the 20-year-old age group, with 40% of the respondents coming from the second-year level. It also revealed that the majority of respondents who played online games are men, accounting for 80 percent of the study's respondents. Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that playing online games has no substantial association with the respondents' academic success, as evidenced by their Probability-value.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine and improve students' understanding of literacy through learning video media. Based on previous research, there are not too many studies that discuss Strengthening Literacy for Learning Arts, Culture and Crafts in Sculpture Artwork Materials for 6th-grade elementary school students. This study uses a quantitative approach to pre-experimental design in the form of pre-test and post-test. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, before providing an understanding of the material of Sculpture in the students' understanding of Cultural Arts and Crafts learning, the results of the pre-test only reached an average value of 61.0% then an increase occurred after the learning video media was given, the post-test results the test given increased by 90.28%. The results showed that the difference was 29.28%. So, it can be concluded that the use of instructional video media on the material of sculptures learning Arts, Culture and Crafts can improve students' knowledge literacy.

Abstract

This study investigates students' attitudes towards the use of Google Classroom for learning at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Descriptive survey research is used in this study. The population for this study consisted of all students at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. The population of this study consisted of undergraduates in ten selected faculties at the University of Ilorin. Samples were taken using a multi-stage sampling technique. Use of stratified sampling technique to divide the population into strata based on faculty. Then, random sampling technique was used to select 30 respondents from each stratum. Specifically, 30 undergraduate students were selected from ten faculties, bringing the total number of respondents to 300 people. The research finding is that students have a positive attitude towards the use of Google Classroom at the University of Ilorin. Gender has no significant effect on student attitudes towards the use of Google Classroom at Ilorin University. The research course did not have a significant effect on respondents' attitudes towards the use of Google Classroom at the University of Ilorin. The study concludes that Google Classroom's diverse potential can be harnessed and harnessed to transform teaching and learning processes from traditional chalk-talk methods to virtual or blended learning, which is increasingly recognized as a global best practice in the university field. It is recommended that University lecturers be encouraged to use Google Classroom because of the many benefits it has for teaching and learning.

Abstract

This study examined the utilization of a work-based learning program (WBL) to develop the employability skills of craftsmen in the construction industry towards industrial development. Also, it determines the influence of WBL on employability skills of craftsmen challenges militating against effective utilization of WBL, and strategies/techniques for improving utilization of WBL to develop competency and employability skills of craftsmen in construction industries. A descriptive survey research design was used and data was obtained using a structured questionnaire known as the Employability Skill Inventory Checklist. 95 site managers in construction industries and technical instructors in private vocational centers/colleges in Lagos State participated in the study. The analysis was carried out using SPSS version 16.0 for data computation. Mean was used to answer three research questions. Findings revealed that WBL enhances the employability potential of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates by promoting their soft skills, technical and vocational skills. Challenges against the utilization of WBL include; activities related to WBL programs that do not fit neatly into traditional school and lack healthy collaboration between TVET and industry. Also, recommended techniques/strategies for WBL include maintaining frequent communication between parents and teachers, producing regular reports that track each student’s progress; skill, knowledge, and attitude should be derived from work undertaken.
