Abstract

Background; Menstruation is an important event in the life of a young woman. Some adolescents experience disturbances during menstruation, namely experiencing pain during menstruation (dysmenorrhea). Menstrual pain management is divided into two categories, namely pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. One of the non-pharmacological treatments is giving carrot juice. This study aims to determine the effect of giving carrot juice (daucus carota) to reducing dysmenorrhea pain in female students at SMP Negeri 10 Tebing Tinggi City in 2022. Method; This type of research is a quasi experiment using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of this study were all 93 class IX students at SMP Negeri 10 Tebing Tinggi City. The sampling technique used the Lemeshow formula as many as 15 people. Then the method of sampling is done by purposive sampling. The type of data used is primary and secondary data collected using observation sheets then processed and analyzed using paired t-test. Results; The results showed that the majority of dysmenorrhea pain in the pretest group was moderate pain as many as 11 people (73.3%). After being given carrot juice, there was a decrease in dysmenorrheal pain to mild pain in 12 people (80.0%). Statistical test results obtained p-value = 0.000. Conclusion; The conclusion is that there is an effect of giving carrot juice (daucus carota) to reduce dysmenorrhoea pain. For this reason, for young women to be able to use carrots to make juice to reduce menstrual pain as a non-pharmacological method that is safe and easy to obtain at home.

Abstract

Puskesmas plays an important role in providing the best service to people who want to get health services. However, in the field it is still a classic problem that one of the problems is the aspect of service to patients who are considered less than satisfied. Of course, this must receive attention as an evaluation material regarding the quality of service that needs to be carried out so that patients will again have confidence and be willing to visit the health center, considering that the health center is the first level health facility in the national health insurance program, even resulting in patient satisfaction. The aim of this paper is to analyze the influence of service quality and trust on patient satisfaction at the outpatient installation of Puskesmas X in Labuhan Batu. This research is an analytical observational type using a cross-sectional approach. The sample size was 100 patients seeking treatment at the outpatient installation of Puskesmas X in Labuhan Batu. The sampling technique was carried out using systematic random sampling. Data was obtained directly through patients' perceptions of the perceived quality of service, their trust in the facilities and services received, including the satisfaction felt by patients through questionnaire instruments. The data obtained was then analyzed using binary logistic regression. The results showed that all patients (82%) stated that the overall dimensions of service quality were good, and almost all patients (80%) expressed confidence and almost all respondents (82%) stated that they were satisfied with the service at the Outpatient Installation of Puskesmas X in Labuhan Batu . Then service quality has a significant effect on patient satisfaction (p-value = 0.042) and trust has a significant effect on patient satisfaction (p-value = 0.010). The research conclusion shows that service quality and trust can influence patient satisfaction.

Abstract

Introduction: Technological advances in the machinery sector, have succeeded in creating a variety of machine products that in operation often produce noise that must be faced by employees in doing work. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with complaints of hearing loss in workers at PT. Pupuk Iskandar Muda Lhokseumawe. Method: This study used descriptive with a cross sectional approach. The study population was all workers as many as 200 workers with a sample of 133 workers taken using simple random sampling techniques. Data analysis using univariate, bivariate analysis with statistical logistic regression tests. Results: The variables worker age = 0.000, length of exposure = 0.000, working period = 0.000, noise intensity = 0.000, ear protection equipment = 0.000, which means worker age, length of exposure, noise intensity, ear protection equipment (APT). Conclusion: This study is that there is a relationship between worker age, length of exposure, length of service, noise intensity and ear protection equipment with complaints of hearing loss in machine part workers. It is expected that workers can comply with the regulations set by the factory and pay more attention to occupational safety and health.

Abstract

Bilateral genu osteoarthritis is a common degenerative condition in the elderly, characterized by pain and limited knee mobility. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of combined modality therapy consisting of ultrasound, Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), and Quadriceps Setting Exercise in improving knee function and reducing pain in patients with bilateral genu osteoarthritis. This study method used a quasi-experimental approach with a pre-test and post-test design. A total of 30 patients were selected by purposive sampling and divided into two groups: the intervention group receiving combined modality therapy, and the control group receiving standard care. The results showed that combined modality therapy significantly increased quadriceps muscle strength, reduced pain levels, and improved physical function compared to the control group. Therefore, this combination therapy is recommended as an effective alternative in the treatment of bilateral genu osteoarthritis.

Abstract

Soil-transmitted helminths (STHs) remain among the most prevalent parasitic infections worldwide, particularly in developing countries. Persistent infections can lead to malnutrition, anemia, and impaired cognitive development. However, limited research has examined differences in hemoglobin concentration between children with single versus mixed STH infections. This study aims to compare the hemoglobin levels in school-age children at Al-Jam’iyatul Washliyah Orphanage, Medan, with single and mixed STH infections. A cross-sectional design was employed, involving elementary school children. Stool samples were analyzed using the Kato-Katz method to identify STH species and classify infection type, while hemoglobin levels were measured with a portable analyzer. Data were analyzed using independent t-tests, with statistical significance set at p < 0.05. A total of 150 children participated, with an overall STH infection prevalence of 18.8%; of these, 76.9% had single infections and 23.1% had mixed infections. Mean hemoglobin concentration was significantly lower in children with mixed infections compared to those with single infections (XX ± SD g/dL vs XX ± SD g/dL, p < 0.05). Mixed STH infections were associated with greater reductions in hemoglobin levels than single infections. Targeted deworming and nutritional interventions are essential to reduce anemia risk among vulnerable child populations.

Abstract

Diabetic food complications are among the most serious challenges faced by elderly individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), often leading to reduced mobility, diminished quality of life, and a heightened risk of ulceration. This study evaluated the effectiveness of diabetic foot exercise as a non-pharmacological intervention to improve foot health in older T2DM patients. Using a quasi-xperimental pre-test - post-test design, participants at Pratama Prima Melati Clinic were assigned to either an intervention group or a control group. The control group received standard care, while the intervention group performed structured diabetic foot exercises three times per week for four weeks. Foot health outcomes, including circulation, sensitivity, and range of motion, were assessed using standardized clinical tests before and during the intervention. Results showed that the intervention group demonstrated significant improvements in circulation, neuropathic symptoms, and joint flexibility compared to the control group (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that diabetic foot exercise is an effective strategy to enhance foot health and potentially prevent complications in elderly T2DM patients. Incorporating such exercise programs into primary healthcare practice is strongly recommended to support comprehensive diabetes control management.
