Abstract

Jabon  that is known  as  Anthocephalus cadamba, is one species of species and that has high prospects for industrial tree plantations because growth is very fast and has the ability to adapt onvarious site conditions. Jabon to improve the growth of jabon that can grow succesfully, so this plant need help to be introduced by  biological agents one of which is the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. The purpose of this study was to known study 1  The number of spores and genus AMF associated with jabon, level of association that occur between the AMF with jabon age of 1, 1½ and 2years. Research was carried out for 2 months, starting with the taking of 3 samples jabon age of 1, 1½ and 2 years randomized rural in village Semberang districts Sambas Counties Sambas West Kalimantan. Observation of soil and root samples was carried out in the laboratory of Faculty of Forestry Silviculture Uvinersity Tanjungpura. This  method of isolate spores was been trough a gradual process of wet screening on the ground, them it the coloring on the roots and determine the characteristics of the spores to the genus level and calculate the percentage of infected root AMF. The results of this study were found 6 genus Glomus ang 1 genus Gigaspora and the rage percentage of root infection was 60 % (high) – 97 % (very high) included in the classifications of root infection grades 4 and 5. Abstract

Forest ecosystem and flora and fauna variety are a basic capital for national development which benefit for human’ s life in particular at Tembangan forest located in Mensiku Bersatu village of Binjai Hulu sub-district of Sintang.  Tembangan forest located in Mensiku Bersatu village of Binjai Hulu sub-district of Sintang has a lot of flora and fauna and one of its familiar animals is squirrel. For several reasons, squirrel conservation is considered as an unimportant action since this wild animal is often regarded as one of potential pests. In fact, squirrel has several significant roles in maintaining the sustainability of forest ecosystem since this animal can perform as a flora distributor or a insect controller that distribute seeds around Tembangan forest. The purpose of this study is to investigate the type of squirrel species at Tembangan forest located in Mensiku Bersatu village of Binjai Hulu sub-district of Sintang. The study result is expected to have significant contribution regarding the required data for management, protection, and conservation of Tembangan forest.  The setting of this study is in Tembangan forest located in Mensiku Bersatu village of Binjai Hulu sub-district of Sintang. Survey method and purposive sampling technique are applied in this study to identify the squirrel’s main territory around Tembangan forest. Based on the results of observation and identification, it can be concluded that Tembangan forest located in Mensiku Bersatu village of Binjai Hulu sub-district of Sintang has 5 species of squirrel specifically Spotted Squirrel (Tupaica picta), Slim Squirrel, (Tupaica gracilis), Small Squirrel (Tupaica minor), Javan Treeshrew Squirrel (Tupaica javanica),and Beautiful Squirrel (Tupaica splendidula). There are approximately 183 squirrels living in Tembangan forest and Spotted Squirrel (Tupaica picta) is the most common type of squirrel found in there and Tembangan forest has 82 spotted squirrel (Tupaica picta), 36 slim squirrels (Tupaica gracillis), 45 small squirrels (Tupaica minor), 13 Javan Treeshrew Squirrel (Tupaica javanica), and 7 beautiful squirrels (Tupaica splendidula). Abstract

This research aims to find out about the daily behavior of orangutan in the Sintang Orangutan Rehabilitation Center. The main activities of Sintang Orangutan Center are rescue, rehabilitation, and realease of the animal into is natural habitat. The method used was focal animal sampling or by observing and recording the behavior of one individual during a certain period of time as long as the individual is always visible. Collecting data in this research was focused on the individual orangutan as the object or goal in each observation. Data recording was made every minute on daily behavior as “point sample”. This method works with semi-solitary orangutans with a character of slow movement. Observations of orangutan behavior were conducted the whole day, from  wake-up time in the morning (at around 5:00 a.m. to 17:oo PM) until bedtime and did not do activities in the evening (at around 6:00 p.m. to 19:00 pm). The results showed that orangutans use a lot of time for feeding activities, while the minor activities are making a nest. Orangutans targeted in this research used 22.96% of the time daily for motion, 44.48% for eating, 20.78% for taking a rest, 8.29% for social activities, 1.43% for the activity of building nests and 2.03% for other activities.   Keywords: Behavior, Orangutan, Pongo pygmaeus, Rehabilitation.

Abstract

Pasak bumi (Eurycoma longifolia Jack) is a native plant to Indonesia which has many properties and benefits. Howevel the population in the natural forest is increasingly rare due to excessive exploitation. Pasak bumi has recalcitrant seeds type phenological conditions it is a monopodial type plant so that its multiplication can be produced vegetatively by stem cutting. This research aimed to get the suitable method for pasak bumi plant propagation. This study an experimental method by comparing generative with seeds and stump method and used vegetative cuttings. Seed germinated an moss began on day 12 th with a percentage of 38,84%, whereas on sand media did not germinate at all. Stump survival percentage was 84,5%, new shoots grow out after 1 month after planting. The growing percentage of cuttings was 20,8%. Both seedling stump and cutting were growing sprout from the shoots and was stems, with a varying number of buds. Environmental conditions such as air temperature, humidity, and light intensity affected the processes of the pasak bumi propagation. Abstract

The mangrove forest is a community plant or an individual plant species that form a community of mangrove ecosystem in coastal area. This ecosystem has unique characteristics, distinctive and has the potential of biological richness. Coastal marine ecosystem is a natural resource that is productive as a provider of energy for community life in it. Tanjung Saleh village in Sungai Kakap district Kubu Raya regency has a mangrove forest which cover around 5000 hectare. The community in Tanjung Saleh village especially in Sub village Parit Pangeran has utilized the mangrove forest resources to fulfill their daily needs. The vegetation consist of Avicenia sp, Bakau (Rhizophora sp), Berembang, Coconut, Umbal wood, and Nipah (Nypa fructicans). The research aimed to determine the perception and attitude of community in Parit Pangeran sub village towards mangrove forest and to evaluate the relationship between knowledge, cosmopolitan, perception and attitude on mangrove forest of community in Parit Pangeran sub village. Data was collected with in-depth interview to the people in Parit Pangeran sub village with total responden was 120 people. The result showed that 52 responden (43.33%) has a positive perception on mangrove forest, meanwhile 47 responden (39.17%) was neutral and 21 responden (17.5%) has a negative perception. There are a relationship between level of knowledge and attitude of the community on mangrove forest.
