Abstract

Nepenthes is one of plant species that found in Indonesian tropical forests. This plant has uniqueness and many benefits make this plant being hunted and exploited, caused the existence of its population are decreasing. Nepenthes inhabit in various conditions, one of the site is in lowland secondary forest. This study aims to find out site diversity of nepenthes in various secondary forest land cover conditions in Bukit Batu Village. This research is expected to be a baseline information on nepenthes diversity for the goal of protection and use fullness of nepenthes. This research employed survey method with purposive sampling on plot placement. Plot size was 20 m × 20 m with sub plot was of 10 m × 10 m. The results show that secondary forest of Bukit Batu Village which were varied on coverage condition, on open canopy 4 species of nepenthes were found such as N. ampullaria jack., N. bicalcarata Hook.F., N. rafflesiana Jack. and N. gracilis korth., under medium canopy coverage there was 3 nepenthes species found, which was N. ampullaria jack., N. bicalcarata Hook. F. and N. rafflesiana Jack., and under closed canopy conditions there was 2 species of nepenthes found N. ampullaria jack. and N. bicalcarata Hook. F. The results showed that only few nepenthes species found in this forest area and species nepenthes found more under open canopy condition, due to those species needed more light to survive. Keywords: Canopy Cover, Diversity, Nepenthes spp, Secondary Forest

Abstract

Puri (Mitragyna speciosa Korth) is one of the plant species in Indonesia forest area which has a high economic value. especially in Kapuas Hulu has been exploited extensively by the community by taking the leaves of the puri that grows naturally in the forest. This research aims to determine the results of composting on alluvial soil as a medium for the growth of stem cuttings of puri. This research was conducted for 10 weeks. The method was Completely Random Design, which consisted of 5 treatment with 10 replication. Each treatment consisted of alluvial without compost, alluvial 4 + compost 1, alluvial 3 + compost 2, alluvial 2 + compost 3, alluvial 1 + compost 4. The variables observed were live percentage, number of shoots, number of leaves, number of roots and length of roots. The results showed that adding compost on stem cuttings of puri at alluvial 4 + compost 1 had a significant effect on the growth parameter of the number leaves, a number of roots and a very significant effect on the parameter of the length of roots. The percentage growth of stem cuttings of puri was 52% Keywords: Compost, Mitragyna species Korth, Stem Cuttings of Puri

society with mangrove forest ecosystem and brackish forest ecosystem that raises the existence of public awareness in preserving the function of mangrove forest and brackish forest. The method used is survey method with descriptive associative and used interview techniques with instrument a questionnaire. There are two types of data analysis namely  descriptive analysis used to see the general description characteristic of respondents and the level of public awareness and inferential analysis used to know different levels of income people who worked as fishermen and does not worked as fishermen by using independent sample t-test and  to know the factors that affect the level of public awareness by using multiple linear regression models. The level of public awareness coastal in preserving function mangrove forest and brackish forest is tend high. The results of independent sample t-test indicated there was no significant difference between the average income levels of  people who worked as fishermen with an average income levels of people who does not worked  as fishermen. Based on the analysis used multiple linear regression models was knowledge variables and cosmopolitan variables significantly influence the level of public awareness, while age variables, income variables, and perceptons variable were not significantly influence the level of public awareness. Abstract

The Semuntai Villagers have preserved existing forest honey by not destroying the forest where honey is located, so it can be harvested several months to increase economic income for the villagers. The study of people’s perceptions of the potential of forest honey in Desa Semuntai, Kecamatan Ketungau Hilir, Kabupaten Sintang, has not been carried out, so the research on the forest honey is needed. The purpose of this study was to examine people’s perceptions of the potential of forest honey and examine the factors that influence the perceptions of the Semuntai villagers on the potential of forest honey. This study used a survey method with interview techniques that are assisted by questionnaires. The sampling was conducted using purposive random sampling technique. The data analysis was carried out by descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The results showed that the people’s perception of the potential of forest honey in Desa Semuntai, Kecamatan Ketungau Hilir tended to be neutral, were people who knew the potential of forest honey and felt the benefits of forest honey themselves but did not understand the purpose and function itselves. The villagers that tended to have a moderate level of knowledge do not mean they have less understanding but are based on what they see. The highest income level is the medium category, which is Rp.8,795,513.70-Rp.16,186,024.76 with 50 respondents. The level of income respondents vary due to the different sources of income for each respondent, the main job of the dominant respondents is rubber farmers and farming as a side job. People who tend to have a moderate cosmopolitan level are people who have moderate knowledge of the potential of forest honey. They obtain and seek information from television or radio to get information about the potential of forest honey. Keywords: Community Perception, Potential Forest Honey, Semuntai
