Abstract

The State Elementary School (SD) of 2 Lontar is the closest school to the UPI Marine Station, Serang Campus, which is located in Lontar, Tirtayasa District, Serang Regency. Based on interviews with classroom teachers there, most said that mathematics is the most difficult subject to teach, especially in the form of story questions. Many students are fooled and wrong in answering the question form. Especially during a pandemic like now which presents its challenges for teachers there, both in terms of material delivery, media selection, and assessment. On the other hand, mathematical literacy (numerical literacy) is a criterion that is used as an assessment in the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM).  Referring to this, researchers will conduct community service with the target of SDN Lontar 2 teachers as an effort to improve the quality of learning, especially mathematics lessons with situational-based learning. The steps that the researcher will take are needs analysis and literature study followed by strategy formulation, implementation, direct practice, evaluation, and follow-up. The strategies compiled will be related to language skills which are a means of communication between teachers and students. The result of this empowerment is planting to identify problems and problem-solving strategies for elementary school children. The follow-up program invites teachers to continuously improve and implement situational-based learning. Teachers' understanding of the application of communicatively oriented mathematics learning methods has proven to increase after the training and the results of monitoring the implementation have also been observed

Abstract

The low level of human resources affects in terms of education and religion practice. One of the examples is the lack of ustadz who can teach reading and writing the Qur'an. The purpose of this activity is how to regenerate new prospective ustadz and ustadzah to assist in reading and writing the Qur'an in Langgeng Hamlet, Karangluhur Village, Kertek District, Wonosobo Regency. The community service method uses observation, interviews, and documentation. The stages are through a preliminary interview, direct observation, teaching practice, direction, support and supervision of prospective clerics and clerics in carrying out the practice of reading and writing the Qur'an at TPQ. The results of integrated service include: First, training and also learning that is followed by prospective ustadz and ustadzah can provide knowledge and also learn how to teach reading and writing the Qur'an. Second, mentoring and motivation are carried out so that prospective ustadz and ustadzah have enthusiasm and confidence in teaching reading and writing the Qur'an. Third, with this community service activity, initially there were only 2 ustadz in carrying out reading and writing activities of the Qur'an to be helped by the presence of new ustadz and ustadzah candidates. Fourth, the implementation of activities still has obstacles in the lack of motivation and awareness of the parents, but can be overcome with regular supervision. This activity was responded positively by the community, especially those that focus on religious education and can also be used as an alternative example of strengthening potential for villages or other areas with similar conditions

Abstract

The results of the TIMSS survey showed that Indonesia is in a lower position than several countries in Asia. One of the alternative ways to deal with that problems is elementary school teachers' training on developing High Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) questionss. The training is a part of community service to prepare the teachers with the hots questions concept. The training also provides them with examples of mathematics and social studies hots questions. The purpose of this training is to provide an understanding of HOTS questions concept and provide examples in developing mathematics and social studies HOTS questions for teachers. The method of the training consists of material presentation and reflection sessions. In the reflection session, the elementary school teacher made and presented their hots questions. The training also is expressed in three stages; preparation, implementation, and evaluation. There are seven teachers from the Elementary School of Teaching Laboratory of UPI Serang campus as participants. They gave positive responses to the training as they got experience in developing hots questions. They also develop their knowledge in designing the questions. The output of the program is sets of mathematics and social studies HOTS questions and the journal publication.

Abstract

Remote learning (distance learning) is a program conducted by the government to minimize toleration and severed the link between the covid-19 virus dissemination. These long-distance learning are made by utilizing various digital technologies ranging from Zoom, Gmeet, Gmail, and WhatsApp. But in practice these long-range studies suggest there are some positive and negative facets. Teachers endeavor to utilize various technologies in the enjoyable learning process. Based on this, this community service aims to expose the use of songs as a learning medium for elementary school students besides that students can be stimulated to develop learning sharing through the lyrics of a song. By listening to songs that are designed or adapted besides related to the learning materials, students can indirectly listen to the learning materials. This method of community service program is also conducted through three stages of planning, implementation and evaluation. Studies have shown that songs can be used as interesting learning media besides that learning is more fun and can minimize lower motivations for elementary school children.

Abstract

Google Form was one of Google's services primarily used in educational settings. One of its functions is to conduct surveys. Google Form can make learning neater. Many schools studied and used Google Forms as an alternative learning media during the Covid-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, it was assumed that Google Form was only operated in the survey or research activity even though it had much potential to be explored. Therefore, this community service activity focuses on assisting teachers in using the Google Form. The method in this activity is to provide an introduction and socialization about using Google Forms for teachers. This activity's target was teachers at State Elementary School of Panancangan 2. Through this activity, it is hoped that teachers at State Elementary School of Panancangan 2 can find out the benefits and use of Google forms. This community service aims to get an idea of the extent to which teachers in schools use Google Forms and help them develop the use of Google Forms in learning. The results of this activity are that teachers could use Google Forms, and students have the facilities and infrastructure to carry out online education. After a good understanding of the potential of Google Form, the teacher was expected to keep progressing delivery to other platforms to help them conduct online learning.

Abstract

Waste is one of the environmental problems that are difficult to deal with. Cloth and plastic waste is inorganic waste which is very difficult to decompose, therefore cloth and plastic waste often become an environmental problem because it is still used in large quantities. To avoid these environmental problems, it is necessary to use cloth waste in goods that have use value and are also useful as an alternative to polybags for parents who like to grow crops. Keseneng Village is a village located in Wonosobo Regency. Student parents' awareness of the importance of waste management is still relatively small. Therefore, we, KPM students at the University of Sains Al-Qur'an, Central Java, provided training on the utilization of cloth waste in pots. The implementation method is by experimenting with making pots before being demonstrated, outreach to the public about the use of fabric waste, demonstrations, and practices. The purpose of this training is to raise awareness of the people of Keseneng Village in processing patchwork waste into usable items. By holding this activity, parents' knowledge of the importance of waste management is increasing, especially in processing patchwork waste. This increased knowledge brought parents to be creative in processing patchwork waste where the waste is processed into useful pots.

Abstract

During a pandemic period, learning assistance for children is really needed, because in the recent time, sometimes children were not optimal in carrying out learning because they do not directly interact with the teacher. In online learning situation, the role of parents is very much needed in guiding children to carry out learning from home. The problem was, there were still many parents who did not understand their role as substitute teachers at home and there are still many parents who did not employ technology or how to use online learning media to assist their children learning. Seeing the situation and potential loss of learning, the authors conducted a student learning assistance program and strengthened the role of parents in guiding children which was carried out at State Elementary School of Tangkolo which is located in Tirtaatmaja Street, Tangkolo RT 25 RW 10 Kabandungan Village, Kabandungan District, Sukabumi Regency. This community service aimed at achieving goals in online learning, as well as accompanying parents in guiding their children to learn from home. The implementation of this program was carried out through introduction and socialization, intensive online assistance for children and parental assistance. Through this activity, parents found it helpful to be able to take advantage of their role as a substitute for the teacher during this online learning and help to motivate children to achieve children's learning. This activity is expected to trigger parental sensitivity to their child's educational situation in the future

Abstract

Advances in digital technology provide many positive influences in the world of education. The rate of information dissemination is growing with various types and provides information quickly as well as profile videos. Making a profile video is one of the author's leading activities in a series of UPI 2021 thematic community service program activities with the theme of building villages through the fields of education and the economy. Dissemination of information about schools that is limited and still conventional by word of mouth is often an obstacle for some parents in knowing the destination school for their children. Unfortunately, some schools did not take a position to have appropriate video profiles. This profile video creation activity aims to make it easier for the community, especially parents, to see the school's profile video and become a digital footprint for schools in promoting schools. The approach taken in this activity is a field approach, where the author tries to collect data and information intensively. This activity involves the Service Technical Implementation Unit of State Elementary School of Cinini in every stage of manufacture. This activity significantly impacted the dissemination of school profile information and boosted the school's popularity. This community service provided help to the community to reach information about the school.

Abstract

The use of information and communication technology in the learning process is one of the pedagogical competencies that must be possessed by an educator and education staff. In reality, many of them are not yet able to use ICT for learning, so assistance is needed for them. Through 5 mentoring strategies including delivering the benefits of Google Classroom, feature introduction, usage practice, one-on-one mentoring, and presentation of results, educators and education staff at MI Ma’arif Kebondalem Wonosobo can practice 4C-based online learning (Critical thinking, Creativity, Collaboration and Communication). With the Google Classroom. The purpose of community service is so that teachers understand how to use google classroom to improve the quality of student learning. A survey conducted on the ICT quality of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah teachers found that teacher competence in ICT was very low in the ability to use and utilize applications, which was 52%. Furthermore, a very low indicator is found in the experience aspect of participating in training at 57%. Through Google Classroom, an internet-based service provided developed by Google for e-learning activities, teachers feel making it easier for teachers to manage classes, and improve communication with students without using paper. This assistance to teachers is considered successful in solving teacher competence problems at MI Ma’arif Kebondalem Wonosobo.
