Abstract

Introduction: The nursing profession, which constitutes the largest professional group within the healthcare system, plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of nursing services and patient safety. Currently, the world is facing a serious challenge in the form of a nursing shortage, with an estimated deficit of about 5.7 million professional nurses globally by 2030. Studies have shown that Southeast Asia and the Pacific have the highest nurse burnout rates, at 13.68%. 24 This job burnout indicates that nursing is one of the professions with higher levels of stress and workload because it involves patient care. The work stress resulting from excessive workload leads to nurse turnover intention. The turnover intention for nurses in their first year of work is 27.1%.27 The heavy workload drives nurses to leave, and this turnover intention contributes to the nursing shortage. Objective: This literature review aims to determine the relationship between nurse turnover intention, work stress, and job satisfaction. Method: A literature review study was conducted using databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, ProQuest, and Scopus. Article selection followed the PRISMA protocol, including identification, screening, eligibility, and analysis of 11 articles. Result: The analysis results showed a significant relationship between work stress and job satisfaction with nurse turnover intention. Conclusion: Addressing the work stress experienced by nurses and improving job satisfaction is expected to mitigate the turnover intention among nurses.

Abstract

Introduction: Indoor air pollutants can cause respiratory irritants and trigger allergic asthma complaints, especially in children with a history of atopy. Previous research has found that air pollutants, including PM2.5 and TVOCs, pose risks to respiratory allergy complaints in children. Children spend a significant amount of time at school, so the air quality in classrooms affects their health and productivity. The study was conducted at SMPN 19 Surabaya, located alongside a major road and with a variety of classroom types, potentially exacerbating asthma complaints in children. The research aimed to identify the relationship between exposure to PM2.5, TVOCs, physical environmental factors, and atopy history with asthma complaints in 13-14-year-old children at SMPN 19 Surabaya. Objective: The study aimed to identify the relationship between exposure to PM2.5, TVOCs, physical environmental factors, and atopy history with asthma complaints in 13-14-year-old children at SMPN 19 Surabaya. Method: The research was a quantitative study with an analytical observational design using a cross-sectional approach. The sample size for the study was 69 students aged 13-14 years, selected through purposive sampling from two different characteristic classes, at SMPN 19 Surabaya. An air quality detector was used to measure PM2.5, TVOCs, temperature, and humidity in both classes as well as observe the class's physical condition. Data was collected from student interviews using the ISAAC questionnaire. Data analysis used a bivariate test. Result: The research results showed a relationship between a history of atopy and allergic asthma complaints in children aged 13-14 years in classes 7G and 8A at SMPN 19 Surabaya (p=0.000) and (OR=23.368). However, for indoor pollutant levels PM2.5 (OR= 1.710), TVOCs (OR=1.710), and physical environmental factors such as temperature and humidity did not show a relationship with allergic asthma complaints. Conclusion: It can be concluded that a family history of atopy is associated with asthma complaints in classes at SMPN 19 Surabaya. Therefore, increased awareness and supervision of children with a history of atopy are necessary to prevent or manage potential asthma complaints.

Abstract

Introduction: Cases of death and infection due to COVID-19 in Indonesia are the highest compared to other countries in Southeast Asia even though there are various types of Covid-19 vaccines in Indonesia. Although the Covid-19 vaccine has several benefits, there are side effects caused by vaccine administration (AEFI). Many studies have been conducted on AEFI of Covid-19 vaccine in the general public, but the number of studies that discuss special groups needs to be studied further. Objective: This research aims to find out AEFI from more diverse community groups so that the results can be used as material for consideration in policy making. Method: This type of research is a quantitative study with a research design using a cross-sectional study design and using the chi-square test. The sample amounted to 656 respondents who were taken using simple random sampling. Data collection was conducted in September 2023 based on a web survey through Google Forms. Questions regarding diet refer to the General Guidelines for Balanced Nutrition, sleep quality refers to the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and anxiety refers to the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HARS). Data will be processed using Stata 18 data processing application. Result: There was no correlation between the factors studied and post-immunization adverse events (AEFI). However, history of atopic disease had an effect of 1.355 times greater than the dietary category which only had an effect of 0.725 times. Conclusion: Factors associated with post-immunization adverse events (AEFI) such as socio-demographics, history of illness, diet and breakfast, history of allergic disease, history of atopic disease, history of anxiety, vaccine complaints, post-vaccine reactions did not have a significant association with AEFI.

Abstract

Introduction: Student academic performance is very important for first-year students because it will determine their success in the lecture period. Factors that affect student academic performance include self-efficacy and self-adaptation. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and self-adaptation to student academic performance. Method: This study used correlational quantitative research methods. The population in this study were first-year nursing students at one of the Tangerang Private Universities, totaling 440 students. Data collection in this study will use a non-probability sampling technique, namely a consecutive sampling technique. The sample in this study was 220 students. The instruments used are the GSES (General Self Efficacy Scale) questionnaire, SACQ (Student Adjustment to Collage Questionnaire), and first-semester grade point average. The analysis in this study used univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. This research was conducted in January-April 2024. Result: The results showed a significant relationship between self-efficacy and academic performance with a p-value of 0.047 <0.005. However, there was no relationship between self-adaptation and academic performance, with a p-value of 0.575>0.05. The results of this study indicate that student academic performance can be influenced by self-efficacy but not by student self-adaptation. Conclusion It can be concluded that the higher students' self-efficacy, the better their academic performance, but self-adaptation does not affect students' high or low academic performance. Therefore, it is hoped that future researchers can develop research by using a broader measuring instrument to measure academic performance and find other variables that can affect student academic performance.
