Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study aims to analyze the effects of interest rates, exchange rates, world oil prices, and inflation on the IDX BUMN20 during the 2019–2024 period. The IDX BUMN20 represents state-owned enterprise (SOE) stocks that play a strategic role in the national economy and, in recent years, have shown relatively lagging performance compared to the Composite Stock Price Index. Background Problems: The performance gap between the IDX BUMN20 and the Composite Stock Price Index indicates differences in sensitivity to macroeconomic dynamics, making it important to examine the short-run and long-run effects of macroeconomic variables on the index. Research Methods: The study uses monthly secondary time series data from 2019–2024 obtained from the Indonesia Stock Exchange, Bank Indonesia, Statistics Indonesia, and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. The data are analyzed using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. Finding/Results: In the long run, the IDX BUMN20, interest rates, and world oil prices tend to have positive effects, while the exchange rate tends to have a negative effect in the initial period and inflation appears relatively weak. In the short run, the effects of the variables are dynamic and vary across lags. Conclusion: The findings confirm that the performance of state-owned enterprises (SOEs), as reflected in the IDX BUMN20, is strongly influenced by macroeconomic conditions. Therefore, strengthening corporate governance, managing exchange rate and financing risks, and ensuring policy stability are essential to sustain the strategic role of SOEs as development agents and contributors to government revenue.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: Rejuvenation method (replanting) in oil palm plants is the process of replacing old or unproductive plants with new, superior plants so that plantation productivity remains high and sustainable. The choice of rejuvenation method depends, among others, on the condition of the plant and the condition of the land. This study aims to determine the growth of immature oil palm and bulk density in several rejuvenation methods. Research Methods: The materials used are 2-year-old Tenera variety oil palm plants from Sampoerna Agro. The tools used are plastic plates, paint, cameras, stationery, meters, Global Positioning System, Dial thicknesses, sample rings and Krisbow light meters. The design used in this study is a Randomized Block Design  with one treatment factor, namely the oil palm rejuvenation method, namely L0: new land clearing method, L1: insertion planting pattern (underplanting), L2: total uprooting planting pattern. Each treatment was divided into three groups, with 10 plant samples taken from each group. Observed parameters were plant height, stem circumference, leaf thickness, soil density, and light intensity. Observational data were analyzed using ANOVA. If significant differences were obtained, the DNMRT test was performed at the α level of 5%. Finding/Results: The rejuvenation method significantly affected plant height and stem circumference growth. The interplanted oil palm rejuvenation method resulted in the highest average increase in stem height, while the highest growth in stem circumference and leaf thickness was found with the new land clearing method. The new land clearing method had the lowest bulk density, at 1.32 g/cm3.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study aims to analyze the development and impact of the School Participation Rate, Informal Sector, Child Workers’ Income, and the Number of Poor Population on the Number of Child Workers in the 10 provinces with the highest child labor rates in Indonesia during the period 2018–2024. Background Problems: Changes in national dynamics have influenced the development of the number of child workers in several regions of Indonesia, particularly in the 10 provinces with the highest number of child laborers. Research Methods: The study uses secondary panel data from 2018–2024 obtained from Statistics Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistik), the Sakernas website, and the ILO (International Labour Organization). Finding/Results: The Informal Sector (SI) has a probability value of 0.0000 < 0.05, indicating a positive and significant effect, while the Number of Poor Population (JPM) has a probability value of 0.0096 < 0.05, indicating a negative and significant effect. Meanwhile, the School Participation Rate (APS) has a probability value of 0.8651 > 0.05, indicating a negative but not significant effect, and Child Workers’ Income (PPA) has a probability value of 0.6747 > 0.05, indicating a positive but not significant effect. Conclusion: The results of this study confirm that the number of child workers in Indonesia is more strongly influenced by the informal sector and the number of poor people than by the school participation rate and child workers’ income.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study aims to analyze the determinants of economic growth in the provinces of Sumatra for the period 2020-2024, emphasizing the role of foreign direct investment (FDI), government spending, and human resource quality as measured by the Human Development Index (HDI), as well as formulating improvement strategies. Background Problems There is economic growth inequality among provinces in Sumatra, where the GRDP differs in each province even though this region is an important contributor to Indonesia's national economy. Research Methods: This study uses panel secondary data from 2020-2024 obtained from the World Bank, Ministry of Finance, Central Statistics Agency, and improvement strategies using the AHP model. Finding/Results: Government Expenditure (GE) and HDI have a significant positive effect on economic growth. Meanwhile, FDI has a probability value of 0.1481 > 0.05, meaning it does not significantly affect economic growth. Conclusion: The results of this study confirm that economic growth in Sumatra is more influenced by the effectiveness of government spending and the quality of human development than by the amount of foreign investment alone. Investment, fiscal, and human resource development policies are key to promoting more inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Sumatra.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study aims to analyze the determinants of poverty in the provinces of Sumatra for the period 2015–2024, focusing on the Human Development Index (HDI), unemployment rate, Provincial Minimum Wage (PMW), and economic growth, as well as formulating poverty alleviation strategies. The study is motivated by the persistent disparity in poverty levels among provinces, indicating uneven economic development. Background Problems: Poverty disparities across provinces in Sumatra indicate that economic development outcomes are not evenly distributed, despite the region’s significant contribution to the national economy. Research Methods: This study uses secondary panel data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The analysis employs panel data regression with the Random Effect Model (REM) and is complemented by Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) analysis for strategy formulation. Finding/Results: The results show that partially, the Human Development Index (HDI) has negative and significant effect on poverty, while the unemployment rate has a positive and significant effect. Meanwhile, the Provincial Minimum Wage (PMW) and economic growth do not significantly affect poverty, as indicated by probability values greater than 0.05. Conclusion: This study finds that poverty in Sumatra is primarily determined by human capital quality and labor market conditions. Human Development Index (HDI) has a significant negative effect on poverty, while unemployment has a significant positive effect. In contrast, economic growth and the provincial minimum wage (UMP) are not statistically significant, indicating that economic growth remains non-inclusive and does not directly reduce poverty.
