Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: Music education in elementary schools is an essential component of holistic child development, contributing to students’ character formation, creativity, motor coordination, and emotional intelligence. However, the implementation of music learning is often suboptimal due to the limited availability of instructional tools and the lack of engaging teaching methods. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of using the melodica (locally known as pianika) as a concrete and accessible musical instrument to improve students' engagement and understanding in music education. Research Methods: Conducted at SD N 1 Mijen, this research uses a descriptive qualitative approach involving participatory observation, semi-structured interviews with a music teacher and six fourth-grade students, and documentation of the learning process. Finding/Results: The findings indicate that the use of the melodica increases student motivation, enhances comprehension of basic musical notation, and supports the development of performance confidence. Teachers reported that the pianika facilitates structured, step-by-step learning and provides an effective means of formative assessment through direct practice. Students responded positively, becoming more active and enthusiastic during lessons. Additionally, the instrument allowed students to express themselves musically in a collaborative and supportive environment. These results suggest that simple musical instruments like the pianika can serve not only as effective learning tools but also as media that foster emotional and social development. Conclusion: This study supports the integration of practical, engaging, and multimodal strategies in elementary music education to enhance learning outcomes and student participation.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study aims to develop and test the feasibility and effectiveness of DEKASI (Location Plan) learning media to improve understanding of location and direction in grade 1 elementary school students. The background of this study comes from the need for concrete and fun learning media so that students can understand the concept of space visually. The phenomenon raised in this study is the low understanding of students regarding the direction and position of objects in space. This study has an element of novelty in the development of interactive media based on location plans, presented in an interesting and easy-to-understand manner by students in early grades.  Research Methods: This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative and quantitative approach, involving a validation process by experts and limited trials on grade 1 elementary school students. The instruments used in the study were validation sheets and student response questionnaires. Finding/Results: The validation results showed that this media was very feasible to use (90% feasibility), while student responses showed high enthusiasm and ease of understanding of the concept of direction and location. Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that DEKASI media is effective and interesting to use in learning the topic of location and direction in grade 1 elementary school. The implication of this study is the need for integration of visual and interactive media in basic learning to improve students' spatial understanding.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using pianika media in learning the national song “Ibu Kita Kartini” to instill Pancasila values in elementary school students. Research Methods: The researcher used a narrative qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were 13 grade II students and one teacher at Kayuapu Elementary School. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles & Huberman model with validation through source and technique triangulation. Finding/Results: The results showed that the use of pianika in learning national songs was able to increase students' enthusiasm, active involvement, and understanding of the meaning of songs and Pancasila values. Students look more active, happy, and show a sense of pride when playing songs using the pianika. Conclusion This study shows that pianika media is effective in learning national songs because it is able to combine cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. In addition, this media is also able to strengthen the cultivation of character and nationalism values through a fun and meaningful learning experience.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study aims to explore and understand the implementation of entrepreneurship education at the elementary school level, specifically in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Several madrasahs in Padang City—namely MIN 1, MIN 3, and MIN 6—have been identified as reference institutions for successfully integrating entrepreneurial values into their educational practices. Research Methods: Employing a qualitative approach, this research relies on secondary qualitative data obtained through library research. The data analysis technique involves three stages: data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. To ensure data validity, source triangulation was applied across various references. Finding/Results: The findings reveal that the implementation of entrepreneurship education in madrasah ibtidaiyah follows three essential phases. The first is the planning stage, which includes formulating program goals, defining the vision and mission of the entrepreneurship program, selecting learning materials, and embedding entrepreneurial values into lesson plans (RPP). The second is the implementation stage, where entrepreneurial education is delivered through classroom instruction, subject integration, self-development activities, and fostering a school culture that promotes entrepreneurship. The third is the evaluation stage, focusing on assessing students’ internalization and application of entrepreneurial values through observable behaviors and participation in school activities.
