Abstract

E-commerce has reshaped shopping behavior, especially among Generation Z, who prioritize convenience and speed. While Shopee continues to improve the user experience, it faces challenges in maintaining satisfaction and loyalty among this selective and promotion-sensitive group. This study investigates how perceived usefulness (PU), perceived ease of use (PEOU), and satisfaction influence repurchase intention within the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) framework. A total of 182 Gen Z respondents from Lumajang, who had used Shopee in the past six months, were selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with the Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) approach. The data testing procedure included convergent validity, discriminant validity, and reliability testing to ensure the accuracy and consistency of measurement instruments. This was followed by structural model evaluation using R² and Q² values, as well as hypothesis testing through path coefficient analysis to assess the significance of the relationships among variables. The results revealed that most respondents were female (69.8%) and aged 20–21 years, with the majority having used Shopee more than five times. PU and PEOU significantly affect satisfaction and repurchase intention, while satisfaction mediates the relationship between PU, PEOU, and repurchase intention. These findings highlight the essential role of user experience in fostering repurchase behavior among Gen Z Shopee users.

Abstract

Employee engagement and performance are critical drivers of organizational success, yet many firms still rely heavily on extrinsic motivators such as compensation. This study investigates the effects of leadership, compensation, human resource management (HRM) practices, knowledge sharing, and organizational culture on organizational performance, with work engagement as a mediating variable. The research was conducted among 386 employees working in marine supply companies in Batam, Indonesia, using purposive sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software. The analysis included convergent validity, reliability, and mediation testing through a bootstrapping procedure of 5,000 subsamples. Results indicate that leadership, HRM practices, knowledge sharing, and organizational culture have significant positive effects on work engagement and organizational performance, while compensation shows no significant influence. The findings support Herzberg’s Motivation-Hygiene Theory and Social Exchange Theory, emphasizing that intrinsic motivators and positive workplace relationships play a more substantial role in enhancing engagement and performance than financial rewards. The study offers both theoretical and practical implications for improving employee engagement and fostering sustainable organizational growth.

Abstract

The manufacturing sector is currently under significant pressure to enhance productivity and sustainability due to rapid industry changes, technological advancements, and intensified global competition. This creates an urgent need for integrating sustainable Human Resource Management (HRM) practices to support long-term organizational performance. This study investigates the impact of sustainable HRM practices on organizational performance within the manufacturing industry in Batam, Indonesia. Employing a quantitative research approach, data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to 370 employees across multiple companies. The research involved several stages of data analysis, including validity testing, reliability analysis, and structural equation modelling (SEM), to evaluate the hypothesized relationships among variables. The results revealed that sustainable HRM practices significantly influence knowledge management, work engagement, and organizational culture, which collectively enhance organizational performance. These findings imply that manufacturing firms should emphasize the development of sustainable HRM strategies, such as effective knowledge sharing systems and fostering a positive organizational environment. Implementing such practices will improve employee engagement, promote innovation, and sustain competitive advantage. Overall, this research underscores the importance of integrating sustainability initiatives into HRM practices to achieve resilient and high-performing manufacturing organizations.

Abstract

Every business faces inevitable risks, especially amid economic uncertainty and competition. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) plays a vital role in protecting and enhancing firm value through informed decision-making. Good Corporate Governance (GCG) supports ERM by improving transparency and investor confidence. This study examines the effect of managerial ownership, institutional ownership, independent commissioners, Risk Management Committee (RMC), and auditor reputation on firm value in the banking sector, both directly and through ERM as an intervening variable. Using an explanatory quantitative approach with secondary data from banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (2019–2023), the analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares (PLS). The results reveal that managerial ownership, institutional ownership, and independent commissioners do not significantly affect firm value. The RMC and auditor reputation (especially from Big Four firms) positively influence ERM implementation, though auditor reputation does not directly affect firm value. However, ERM effectively enhances firm value and mediates the relationship between auditor reputation and firm value. Strengthening a comprehensive ERM framework is essential to improve corporate risk management and firm performance.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of work engagement as a mediator in enhancing organizational performance, particularly within the manufacturing industry. Employing a quantitative research design, the researchers collected data through structured questionnaires distributed to employees across four leading manufacturing companies in Batam, Indonesia. The sample size comprised 300 valid respondents, determined based on the total questionnaire items multiplied by ten, aligning with established sampling formulas. To analyze the hypothesized relationships, the study utilized Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), following the procedural guidelines of Ghozali (2021) and Hair et al. (2019). The data underwent rigorous testing, including assessments of reliability, validity, and multicollinearity, before conducting hypothesis testing. The results confirmed that work engagement significantly mediates the effects of organizational innovation and talent management on organizational performance, with all mediation effects supported by high T-values (>1.96). Meanwhile, the influence of HR practices and knowledge management on performance through work engagement showed mixed results. Based on these findings, the research recommends that organizations formulate effective strategies to foster work engagement, thereby improving overall performance. The study contributes to the theoretical understanding of the mediating role of work engagement and offers practical insights for organizational leaders.

Abstract

Urban villages in Indonesia are unique socio-economic entities that reflect local History, identity, and community-based economic practices amid metropolitan expansion. Rapid urbanization and modernization generate pressures such as gentrification, land conversion, rising property values, spatial segregation, and economic marginalization, threatening livelihoods and weakening traditional social structures. This study analyzes the urgency of strengthening the urban village economy and strategies for integrating it into a dynamic metropolitan system characterized by spatial transformation and rapid policy change. Using a qualitative approach through a Systematic Literature Review, this research identifies, evaluates, and synthesizes relevant academic and policy sources in a structured and transparent manner. The findings indicate that urban villages possess significant economic potential, including micro enterprises, creative economy activities, informal sector initiatives, and strong local social networks. These potentials can be enhanced through technological innovation, business digitalization, capacity building, and inclusive urban planning. Nevertheless, limited access to infrastructure, financing, formal markets, and public services remains a major barrier to economic transformation. The study concludes that integration into metropolitan policy must prioritize local economic resilience through spatial protection, UMKM empowerment, participatory planning, and collaborative governance to achieve inclusive and sustainable urban development.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of career identity, career success, and social support on turnover intention, with work engagement serving as a mediating variable among PT employees. Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk in Jakarta. The study aims to analyze the direct and indirect relationships among these variables and to examine the mediating role of work engagement in reducing employees’ intention to leave the organization. The population consisted of all employees working at the head office, branch offices, and regional offices in Jakarta. Using stratified proportional sampling, 277 respondents were selected. The findings reveal that career identity, career success, and social support significantly enhance work engagement. In addition, work engagement has a significant negative effect on turnover intention and partially mediates the relationship between the independent variables and turnover intention. Theoretically, this study enriches the literature on turnover intention by integrating career-related and social contextual factors within a mediation framework. The study is limited to a single organization and geographic area. Future research should involve multiple organizations, diverse sectors, and longitudinal approaches to improve generalizability and causal inference.
