Abstract

The increasing public interest in processed chicken cuisine in Jember Regency encourages an increased number of chicken cuisine entrepreneurs with various spices and flavors. One of these processed chicken culinary businesses is Ayam Oriental Sauce Homemade Jember. This culinary business was pioneered at the beginning of the 2020 pandemic by offering processed Korean. Due to limited capital, equipment, and labor, products are made of order. Capital limitations lead to a lack of production capacity; Chicken Oriental Sauce Homemade currently lacks the marketing knowledge to remain competitive. The marketing is still limited to neighbors and close friends. Business partners do not yet have a dedicated social network for product marketing and promotion. In addition, business and family finances are still related because partners lack the knowledge and skills to compile simple financial statements. Through the mentoring activities carried out, it is expected that this culinary Mitra will be able to integrate into the business through service activities in the form of management support and business development, resulting in quantitative and qualitative improvement of culinary chicken products.  With the increased knowledge and skills of marketing partners, including product packaging and online promotion through social media, wider marketing reach and higher product sales will be achieved, improving partner well-being

Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to evaluate if stocks indicated political content during the 2019 Indonesia’s presidential election in the form of price manipulation. This study uses a quantitative method by employing an independent sample t-test to test the hypothesis. Sample formation is divided into two broad categories which are affiliated company stocks and non-affiliated company stocks. Data gathered in this study are return, volatility, and liquidity from March 23 to April 17, 2019. The results show that there is no evidence of price manipulation during the presidential election in those three variables including return (0.0870), volatility (0.5630) and liquidity (0.0800). The overall null hypothesis cannot be rejected since the t-statistics is smaller than the t-table (2.0243). However, there is an indicative of the stock price decrease which occurred during a period of observation from the 2019 presidential election. Although the price manipulation is not evidence during the election, yet strengthening the stock market regulation is necessary in order to improve investor’s confidence to invest in Indonesia in particular during political events.

Abstract

This paper is aimed to validate the four-factor asset pricing model as an improvement towards the standard Fama-French three-factor model. Using U.S. monthly stock returns data from period January 1963 to December 2010, we construct 25 portfolios and the four-factor model includes the market factor (beta), the size factor (SMB), the book-to-market factor (HML), and the ‘momentum' factor (MOM). Similar time series method as in Fama and French (1993) are employed to elaborate the three-factor model and the four-factor model regression. Our findings show that the four-factor model to some extent has significant capability in explaining the variations in average excess stock returns. Although the R2 extracted from the four-factor model is just slightly higher than the three-factor model, yet it provides suggestive for the robustness of the four-factor model. In addition, our robustness test shows that January seasonal effect is absorbed by the risk factors including the market factors, SMB, HML, and MOM factor. The consistency of the four-factor model in explaining the U.S stock market return variations for the newest data, provide relevance to apply this model in emerging markets data in order to give guidance for investor in understanding the market condition.
