Abstract

Distance Learning during the Covid-19 pandemic that lasted almost nineteen months have brought a negative impact by decreasing students' learning motivation. By allowing the implementation of Limited Face-to-Face Learning, it is necessary to make some efforts to increase students’ learning motivation, one of them is by presenting the interesting teaching materials in the form of Student Worksheets (LKS). This research article aims to describe the PITA based Student Worksheet to improve students’ motivation in Social Studies. The PITA based Student Worksheet is Print teaching materials in the form of sheets of paper containing a summary of the material, presentation of tasks to be done and work steps, equipped with pictures and tables for easy understanding and learning. This research is a descriptive qualitative development reseach. Data collection techniques are carried out through documentation, observations, interviews with VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Wadasintang related to the teaching materials used in the school. Development of PITA based Student Worksheet is structured in four stages, namely 1) analysis, 2) design, 3) development and 4) implementation. The result of this research is in the form of the PITA based Student Worksheet which is adapted to the basic competencies and learning materials. By the use of the PITA Student Worksheet, it is hoped that it can guide students in learning and applying the concepts learned in Social Studies, increase students' learning motivation.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students on the subject matter of Social Sciences (IPS). The learning outcome is caused by the teachers only using conventional learning methods and the student being less involved in the learning process. Therefore, teachers need to change the way of learning by using appropriate learning methods so that they are not dull. One of the learning methods used is the Snowball Throwing learning method. Students must be more responsive to receiving messages from others and conveying them to their group friends. A pleasant learning atmosphere makes maximum learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the improvement of social studies learning outcomes with the Snowball Throwing learning method in elementary schools. The subjects in this study were fifth-grade students at SDN Belang for the 2021/2022 academic year, with 21 students consisting of 12 male students and nine female students. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles. Data to determine students' social studies learning outcomes were collected using test results in multiple-choice tests and analysis with percentages. Based on the data analysis, the number of students who finished studying in the pre-cycle was 12 people or 57.14%, after the first cycle, there were 16 people or 76.19%, the second cycle was 19 people or 90.48%. These data indicate that cooperative learning with the Snowball Throwing method can improve social studies learning outcomes in elementary schools.

Abstract

Blended learning is a learning model that combines face-to-face and online learning by utilizing a variety of media and technology to support independent learning and provide student learning experiences. The blended learning model is relevant to the learning system during the Covid-19 period, but in Indonesia, especially elementary schools, there are still few that implement it. This study aims to describe the implementation of the blended learning model and its effect on students so that elementary school teachers are interested in implementing the blended learning model in their schools, especially in social studies subject matter. The method used is a systematic literature review through three stages, including collection, reduction, and article review. The results show that the blended learning model can be used as an alternative social studies learning model during the covid-19 pandemic. Blended learning can be applied in elementary schools by offline or hybrid learning using various online platforms.

Abstract

The new archetype of Indonesian education has brought about a change in the position of teachers and students in teaching and learning activities. In the past, the teacher was the source of all information, but along with the development of science and technology, the teacher served as a facilitator, mentor and at the same time a learner. Meanwhile, students are no longer reminders of facts and principles but have the position of reviewers, problem-solvers, and strategy creators. One of the things that can be done to synergize the position of teachers and students in the millennial era is by using learning models that are in accordance with technological developments and integrated good character development. This article aims to describe the stages in using the ATM learning model (inviting, accompanying, and independent) in elementary schools in social studies learning. The purpose of implementing the ATM learning model is to determine the plan and implementation of learning, increase student activity, and increase student social studies learning outcomes in cognitive and psychomotor aspects. The application of this ATM learning model in cycle II was able to improve the results of teacher performance so that it could achieve the target of 100%. Then able to increase the activeness of students to reach the target of 83.33%. Student learning outcomes increased to reach the target of 87.50% both from the cognitive aspect and the aspect of skill performance presenting the results of the identification of the use of natural resources.

Abstract

Social Sciences (IPS) is one of the subject matter contained in the thematic learning of the elementary school curriculum. Social studies learning does not only require the achievement of knowledge competence as indicated by the achievement of the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM), but also applicable knowledge that is useful in the environment. Social studies learning in elementary school is one of the lessons that is not popular because of the breadth of material consisting of geography, history and economics. This makes social studies learning outcomes low. The success of learning is influenced by internal and external factors. The use of innovative, fun and meaningful learning media is one of the causes of external factors. In this problem, teachers are required to be able to use various media, models and learning methods that can attract students to learn. One of the innovative learning models is the Jigsaw model. The formulation of the problem in this study is whether the application of the Jigsaw type cooperative learning model can improve social studies learning outcomes. This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The method of collecting data is through tests, observing student learning activities, and teacher performance during learning. Indicators of the success of this research are the average value of student learning outcomes is equal to 72, with a minimum mastery percentage of 75%, student activity in learning activities of at least 75%, and teacher performance score of at least B (71). The results showed that in the first cycle the average value of student learning outcomes was 73.95 with classical learning completeness 73.69%, student activity in the learning process was 74.60% with high criteria, and teacher performance scores were 85.21 ( A). In cycle II the average value of student learning outcomes is 81.84 with classical learning completeness 78.95%, student activity in the learning process is 81.47% with very high criteria, and teacher performance value is 92.86 (A). These results indicate an increase from cycle I to cycle II. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the Jigsaw cooperative learning model is proven to improve student learning outcomes and activities, as well as teacher performance.

Innovative learning models are needed in social studies learning. Learning becomes interesting so that it can increase the creativity and learning outcomes of students. One of the innovative learning models is the Mind Mapping learning model. This study aims to determine the increase in creativity and learning outcomes of Class VI elementary school students. This type of research is classroom action research. The research was conducted in three cycles, each cycle three times meeting through the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were students of class VI SD Negeri Nglaris Bener Purworejo with a total of 11 students consisting of 6 male students and 5 female students. Data collection techniques in this study used observation and written tests. The data analysis technique in this study used descriptive qualitative analysis techniques on the results of observations and quantitative analysis techniques on student learning outcomes. Based on the research results, it is known that the application of the mind mapping learning model can increase the creativity of social studies learning, namely in the pre-cycle 9.09%, the first cycle 9.09%, the second cycle 36.36%, and the third cycle 90.91%. The application of the mind mapping learning model can improve social studies learning outcomes, namely in the pre-cycle 9.09%, the first cycle 54.55%, the second cycle 72.73%, and the third cycle 81.82%.
