Abstract

In the context of the ongoing pandemic, where traditional in-person learning has shifted to online platforms, this quantitative correlation study investigates the relationship between self-regulation in learning and academic stress among students. The research involved a population of 380 students, with a sample size of 192 from SMAN 1 Wonoayu, selected through simple random sampling. The research hypothesis postulated a negative relationship between self-regulation in learning and academic stress. Analysis using Pearson's Product Moment correlation revealed a significant coefficient of r = -0.439 (p < 0.05), underscoring the inverse connection. The study found that self-regulation variables contributed significantly, accounting for 19.2% of academic stress variance. This study sheds light on the crucial role of self-regulation in mitigating academic stress during the transition to online education, thereby guiding educators and policymakers in enhancing students' learning experiences.Highlights: The pandemic-driven shift to online education has led to increased academic stress among students. This study establishes a negative correlation between self-regulation in learning and academic stress. Self-regulation contributes significantly (19.2%) to mitigating academic stress, emphasizing its vital role in online learning environments. Abstract

This correlational quantitative study investigates the relationship between self-concept and self-regulation in learning among middle school students. With a sample of 270 respondents from SMPN 2 Taman Sidoarjo, employing proportional stratified random sampling, the research utilizes the Pearson correlation test for analysis. The study reveals a positive association between students' self-concept and self-regulation in learning (r = 0.357; p > 0.05). The independent variable contributes 12.7% to the dependent variable, implying that 87.3% of variance is attributed to other factors. These findings emphasize the significance of nurturing a positive self-concept alongside promoting self-regulation strategies to enhance students' cognitive development and long-term learning success. Highlights: Positive Self-Concept and Learning Success: This study explores the positive relationship between self-concept and self-regulation in learning among adolescents, highlighting the impact of a positive self-concept on students' overall learning outcomes. Quantitative Correlation Analysis: Utilizing a correlational quantitative approach, the research investigates the interplay between self-concept and self-regulation, offering insights into the strength of their association within the context of student learning. Abstract

In this study, we investigate the factors contributing to the inadequate investment in research programs within Nigerian tertiary institutions. Employing secondary data from both printed and online sources, we identify key issues such as the lack of political commitment in implementing research funding policies, declining national revenue, corruption, security concerns, limited private sector involvement, competition from other economic sectors, revenue source limitations, and high debt servicing as primary drivers of this problem. To address these challenges, our recommendations include the implementation of research funding policies, economic diversification, the establishment of effective monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for research funds, the creation of additional sources of research funding, and greater private sector engagement in supporting research endeavors across the nation. This study provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by the Nigerian higher education sector in fostering research excellence and offers practical solutions to enhance research investment for sustainable development. Highlights: Inadequate Funding: Insufficient financial support hinders research program growth. Political Will: Lack of commitment from policymakers affects research funding policy implementation. Private Sector Engagement: Greater involvement of private industries can boost research investment in Nigeria's tertiary institutions.
