Abstract

ABSTRACT – This study critically evaluates the effectiveness of Islamic governance on the financial performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia. Due to the absence of regulations defining optimal Sharia Supervisory Board (SSB) structure and qualifications, the research explores the empirical relationship between SSB characteristics and financial performance. Using a quantitative approach, the study analyzes data from 14 Islamic banks over a seven-year period (2014-2020). Multiple regression analysis reveals that SSB size, educational background, and financial/accounting expertise have minimal impact on financial performance. Interestingly, cross-membership on SSBs is found to have a negative effect. These findings, coupled with the observation of SSBs often lacking banking and finance backgrounds, suggest a potential disconnect between Sharia governance and managerial activities. The study advocates for clear and comprehensive regulations to strengthen SSB composition and competence, ultimately promoting the sustainable development of Islamic banking in Indonesia.========================================================================================================ABSTRAK – Hubungan Antara Tata Kelola Syariah dan Kinerja Keuangan: Bukti dari Perbankan Syariah Indonesia. Studi ini secara kritis mengevaluasi efektivitas tata kelola Syariah terhadap kinerja keuangan perbankan syariah di Indonesia. Mengingat belum adanya peraturan yang mengatur struktur minimum dan kualifikasi optimal Dewan Pengawas Syariah (DPS), penelitian ini bermaksud mengkaji secara empiris empiris hubungan antara karakteristik DPS dan kinerja keuangan. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, penelitian ini menganalisis data dari 14 bank Islam selama tujuh tahun (2014-2020). Hasil analisis regresi berganda menunjukkan bahwa ukuran DPS, latar belakang pendidikan, dan keahlian keuangan dan akuntansi kurang memiliki dampak terhadap kinerja keuangan perbankan syariah. Menariknya, cross-membership pada DPS ditemukan memiliki efek negatif. Temuan ini, ditambah dengan pengamatan terhadap DPS yang seringkali tidak memiliki latar belakang perbankan dan keuangan, menunjukkan potensi keterputusan antara tata kelola Syariah dan aktivitas manajerial. Studi ini merekomendasikan adanya peraturan yang jelas dan komprehensif untuk memperkuat komposisi dan kompetensi DPS, yang pada akhirnya mendorong pengembangan bank syariah yang berkelanjutan di Indonesia.

Abstract

This study explores the prevalence of fraud targeting Hajj and Umrah pilgrims in Indonesia and examines the government's role in protecting these pilgrims. Utilizing a qualitative approach, data were collected through observations and interviews with key stakeholders, including officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA), travel agency representatives, and Umrah pilgrims in an East Java district. The findings reveal that excessive trust in Hajj and Umrah travel agencies without verifying their licenses and track records is the primary cause of fraud. Additionally, Ponzi schemes by certain travel agencies, offering low-cost Umrah packages with uncertain travel schedules, further exacerbate the issue. The government's "Lima Pasti Umrah" (Five Guaranteed Umrahs) program is highlighted as a crucial preventive measure against fraud. This study enhances understanding of the protective measures available for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims in Indonesia and provides recommendations for improving fraud prevention programs for future pilgrims.======================================================================================================== ABSTRAK – Perlindungan Jemaah Haji dan Umrah dari Penipuan: Praktik di Indonesia. Penelitian ini mengkaji prevalensi penipuan yang menyasar jemaah haji dan umrah di Indonesia serta menganalisis peran pemerintah dalam melindungi para jemaah tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, di mana data dikumpulkan melalui observasi dan wawancara dengan para pemangku kepentingan utama, termasuk pejabat Kementerian Agama (Kemenag), perwakilan biro travel, dan jemaah umrah di salah satu kabupaten di Jawa Timur. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepercayaan berlebihan terhadap biro travel haji dan umrah tanpa memeriksa izin dan rekam jejak mereka menjadi faktor utama terjadinya penipuan. Selain itu, praktik skema Ponzi yang dilakukan oleh oknum biro travel, yang menawarkan paket umrah murah dengan jadwal perjalanan yang tidak pasti, semakin memperparah masalah ini. Sebagai langkah antisipatif, pemerintah membuat Program "Lima Pasti Umrah”. Hasil kajian diharapkan dapat meningkatkan literasi mengenai perlindungan bagi jemaah haji dan umrah di Indonesia dan memberikan rekomendasi program pencegahan penipuan bagi jemaah di masa mendatang.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Islamic marketing strategies, lifestyle factors, and pricing on pre-loved clothing purchase decisions, mediated by purchase intention. The study employs Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to analyze data collected through questionnaires distributed to 120 respondents in Banda Aceh City, following a sample size determined by the Hair formula. The findings reveal that purchase intention directly impacts purchasing decisions. Additionally, Islamic marketing strategies, lifestyle factors, and pricing all exert a direct influence on purchase intention. Interestingly, the study identifies that lifestyle factors do not have a significant direct effect on purchasing decisions. Furthermore, the analysis demonstrates that purchase intention partially mediates the relationship between Islamic marketing strategies, lifestyle factors, price, and pre-loved clothing purchase decisions. These results suggest that Islamic marketing strategies can be a valuable tool for businesses operating in the pre-loved clothing market.==============================================================================================================ABSTRAK – Pengaruh Pemasaran Islami, Gaya Hidup, dan Harga terhadap Pembelian Pakaian Pre-Loved: Minat sebagai Mediator. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh strategi pemasaran Islam, gaya hidup, dan harga terhadap keputusan pembelian pakaian pre-loved dengan minat beli sebagai mediator. Data dikumpulkan melalui sebaran kuesioner kepada 120 responden di Kota Banda Aceh, yang ditentukan dengan rumus Hair. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) dalam software AMOS 22. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa minat beli secara langsung memengaruhi keputusan pembelian. Strategi pemasaran Islam, gaya hidup, dan harga juga secara langsung memengaruhi minat beli. Selain itu, strategi pemasaran Islam secara langsung memengaruhi keputusan pembelian. Namun, gaya hidup tidak menunjukkan pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian. Lebih lanjut, minat beli memediasi secara parsial pengaruh strategi pemasaran Islam, gaya hidup, dan harga terhadap keputusan pembelian. Oleh karena itu, bisnis preloved disarankan untuk terus menerapkan strategi pemasaran Islam dalam menjalankan usahanya.

Abstract

This study examines the financing risk management practices of Bank Jatim Syariah, a prominent provincial-owned Islamic bank in Indonesia with total assets of IDR400 trillion, in response to the rising trend of Non-Performing Financing (NPF) in Islamic banking over the past decade. The research focuses on Bank Jatim Syariah due to its extensive service area, large customer base, and substantial financing portfolio. Employing a qualitative methodology, data was collected through interviews with the bank's financing committee and management, coupled with an analysis of pre-pandemic financing documents. The findings reveal that Bank Jatim Syariah has successfully implemented a robust NPF mitigation mechanism, including debt restructuring, debt scheduling, and both litigious and non-litigious dispute resolution strategies. These measures have effectively reduced NPF levels below 2.35%, minimized bank losses, and ensured the bank's continued ability to serve its 40 million customers in East Java. The study highlights the importance of proactive risk management strategies in maintaining the stability and growth of Islamic banking institutions.======================================================================================================== ABSTRAK – Strategi Mitigasi Risiko Pembiayaan pada Bank Jatim Syariah. Penelitian ini mengkaji praktik manajemen risiko pembiayaan Bank Jatim Syariah, salah satu bank syariah terbesar milik pemerintah daerah di Indonesia dengan total aset Rp.400 triliun. Hal ini sebagai respons terhadap tren peningkatan Non-Performing Financing (NPF) di perbankan syariah selama satu dekade terakhir. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada Bank Jatim Syariah karena wilayah layanannya yang luas, basis nasabah yang besar, dan portofolio pembiayaan yang substansial. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dengan komite pembiayaan dan manajemen bank, serta analisis dokumen pembiayaan pra-pandemi. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa Bank Jatim Syariah telah berhasil menerapkan mekanisme mitigasi NPF yang kuat, meliputi restrukturisasi utang, penjadwalan ulang utang, serta strategi penyelesaian sengketa, baik secara litigasi maupun non-litigasi. Langkah-langkah ini secara efektif telah mengurangi tingkat NPF di bawah 2,35%, meminimalkan kerugian bank, dan memastikan kemampuan bank untuk terus melayani 40 juta nasabahnya di Jawa Timur. Studi ini menekankan pentingnya strategi manajemen risiko proaktif dalam menjaga stabilitas dan pertumbuhan lembaga perbankan syariah.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of fintech peer-to-peer (P2P) lending on community well-being in Indonesia by analyzing its role in promoting Sharia financial inclusion. Using a quantitative approach, the research analyzes secondary data from 33 provinces in Indonesia spanning 2021-2022. The study employs panel data regression to assess the effects of fintech P2P lending borrower accounts and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) on Sharia financial inclusion. Additionally, Pearson's correlation analysis examines the relationship between Sharia financial inclusion and the Human Development Index (HDI). The findings reveal that both the number of borrower accounts and GRDP positively and significantly influence Sharia financial inclusion. Furthermore, the study demonstrates a positive correlation between Sharia financial inclusion and HDI. These results suggest that fintech P2P lending in Indonesia, by directing funds towards productive businesses, contributes to the improvement of community well-being through enhanced Sharia financial inclusion.========================================================================================================ABSTRAK – Peran Fintech Lending dalam Memperluas Inklusi Keuangan Syariah dan Pembangunan Manusia di Indonesia. Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh fintech peer-to-peer (P2P lending) terhadap kesejahteraan masyarakat di Indonesia dengan menganalisis perannya dalam mendorong inklusi keuangan syariah. Menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif, penelitian ini menganalisis data sekunder dari 33 provinsi di Indonesia selama periode 2021-2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan regresi data panel untuk menilai pengaruh jumlah akun peminjam fintech P2P lending dan Produk Domestik Regional Bruto (PDRB) terhadap inklusi keuangan syariah. Selain itu, analisis korelasi Pearson digunakan untuk menguji hubungan antara inklusi keuangan syariah dan Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jumlah akun peminjam dan PDRB berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap inklusi keuangan syariah. Lebih lanjut, penelitian ini menunjukkan korelasi positif antara inklusi keuangan syariah dan IPM. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa fintech P2P lending di Indonesia, dengan menyalurkan dana ke bisnis produktif, berkontribusi pada peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat melalui peningkatan inklusi keuangan syariah.

Abstract

ABSTRACT - This study refines Customer Relationship Management (CRM) as a strategic approach for the digital era. It proposes Customer Data Protection (CDP) as a crucial new dimension for a more holistic CRM framework. This revised framework addresses inconsistencies in past CRM definitions, which have contributed to implementation failures across industries. The urgency for this refinement is further emphasized by Indonesia's weak data security landscape. Employing a quantitative survey methodology, the study gathers data from 412 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) is then utilized to analyze each CRM dimension within the collected data. The empirical findings establish five significant dimensions of CRM, forming a strategic framework referred to as the "5C CRM." This framework encompasses processes for cultivating positive stakeholder relationships, preserving company value, and ultimately enhancing customer satisfaction. From an Islamic perspective, data protection aligns with the Maqāṣid Sharia principle of hifdz al-nafs (protecting life). By securing customer data, companies safeguard customers from potential dangers associated with cybercrime and unauthorized access. This aligns with the Quranic verse An-Nur:27, which emphasizes seeking permission before entry. This verse signifies the company's responsibility to secure and protect customer data from unauthorized access. Ultimately, businesses that actively safeguard personal information are more likely to cultivate customer satisfaction and loyalty. The findings suggest that prioritizing data security not only aligns with Islamic principles but also fosters stronger customer relationships.========================================================================================================ABSTRAK - Redefinisi CRM untuk Era Digital: Peran Perlindungan Data Konsumen dalam Perspektif Islam. Penelitian ini meredefinisi konsep Customer Relationship Management (CRM) sebagai pendekatan strategis untuk era digital dengan mengusulkan dimensi baru, yaitu Perlindungan Data Konsumen (Customer Data Protection - CDP), untuk menciptakan kerangka kerja CRM yang lebih komprehensif. Penyempurnaan ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi persoalan inkonsistensi definisi CRM yang berakibat pada kurang efektifnya implementasi di berbagai sektor. Urgensi penyempurnaan ini disebabkan oleh kondisi keamanan data di Indonesia yang masih lemah sehingga sering terjadi kebocoran data. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif yang mengumpulkan data melalui survei kuesioner dari 412 responden yang dipilih secara purposif. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) digunakan untuk menganalisis dimensi-dimensi CRM dari data yang terkumpul. Hasil kajian menetapkan lima dimensi kunci CRM yang membentuk kerangka strategis yang disebut “5C CRM”. Kerangka ini mencakup proses yang dilakukan perusahaan untuk membina hubungan positif dengan pemangku kepentingan internal dan eksternal, menjaga nilai perusahaan, dan meningkatkan kepuasan pelanggan. Dari perspektif Islam, perlindungan data konsumen sejalan dengan prinsip Maqashid Syariah, khususnya aspek hifdz al-nafs (melindungi kehidupan). Dengan pengamanan data konsumen, perusahaan akan melindungi pelanggan dari bahaya kejahatan dunia maya dan akses yang tidak sah. Hal ini sesuai dengan ayat Al-Qur’an An-Nur:27 yang menekankan pentingnya meminta izin sebelum memasuki suatu tempat, yang menandakan tanggung jawab perusahaan untuk mengamankan dan melindungi data konsumen dari akses tidak sah. Pada akhirnya, perusahaan yang secara aktif melindungi informasi pribadi cenderung meningkatkan kepuasan dan loyalitas pelanggan. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa prioritas terhadap keamanan data tidak hanya sejalan dengan prinsip Islam tetapi juga memperkuat hubungan dengan pelanggan.

Abstract

The implementation of Qanun (Islamic Law) Aceh No. 11 of 2018, mandating all financial institutions in the province of Aceh, Indonesia, to operate solely on Islamic principles from January 4, 2022, sparked protests from certain parties, and thus became a nationwide controversy. Some media reports often depicted the Qanun as causing heightened unemployment and poverty due to the exclusion of conventional banking. This research investigates the discourse contestation surrounding the prohibition of conventional banks in Aceh. Employing a philosophical qualitative approach, the study analyzes instances of miscommunication, misperceptions, and resistance concerning the Qanun's implementation. Primary data collection involved interviews with diverse stakeholders, including grassroots communities, members of the Sharia Economic Society (MES), the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (IAEI), Financial Services Authority (OJK) officials, religious leaders, and economists.  Researcher observations conducted in 2019 and 2022 in Aceh further enriched the data. Secondary data, comprising online news and relevant documents, supplemented the findings. Through triangulation techniques and an integration-interconnection paradigm, the study revealed that the perceived conflict was largely amplified by media portrayals of protests, often lacking comprehensive and objective analysis. Consequently, this study proposes solutions, strategies, and models to facilitate the effective implementation of the Qanun, aiming to realize its intended benefits and contribute to Aceh's sustainable progress through the advancement of maqashid sharia.========================================================================================================ABSTRAK – Transisi ke Keuangan Syariah di Aceh: Miskomunikasi, Mispersepsi, dan Resistensi. Qanun Aceh No. 11 Tahun 2018, yang mewajibkan penerapan prinsip keuangan syariah di seluruh lembaga keuangan di Aceh sejak 4 Januari 2022, memicu berbagai reaksi dan menjadi perbincangan nasional. Media massa kerap mengaitkan Qanun ini dengan peningkatan angka pengangguran dan kemiskinan di Aceh akibat pelarangan operasional perbankan konvensional. Penelitian ini mengkaji kontestasi wacana terkait pelarangan bank konvensional di Aceh menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif filosofis. Penelitian ini menganalisis miskomunikasi, mispersepsi, dan resistensi terkait penerapan Qanun Aceh No. 11 Tahun 2018. Data primer dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dengan berbagai pemangku kepentingan, termasuk komunitas akar rumput, anggota Masyarakat Ekonomi Syariah (MES), Ikatan Ahli Ekonomi Islam (IAEI), pejabat Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK), tokoh agama, dan ekonom. Observasi lapangan juga dilakukan pada tahun 2019 dan 2022. Data sekunder berupa berita online dan dokumen relevan lainnya turut dikaji untuk memperkaya analisis. Teknik triangulasi dan paradigma integrasi-interkoneksi digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa resistensi terhadap Qanun tersebut sebagian besar disebabkan oleh penggambaran media tanpa analisis yang komprehensif dan objektif, seringkali hanya fokus pada satu atau dua kejadian. Penelitian ini menawarkan beberapa solusi, strategi, dan model untuk memfasilitasi penerapan Qanun yang efektif dan mencapai manfaat yang diinginkan, serta berkontribusi pada kemajuan Aceh yang berkelanjutan melalui pemajuan maqashid syariah.
