Abstract

Judaism's ideas of Ebed Yahweh and the Messiah are tasked with mending the false connection between Yahweh and his people and guiding them toward the disposition God has given them via his appointment. It's not implausible to think that the Ebed figure Deutero-Isaiah refers to lived up to his ideals and eventually went back to Jerusalem to continue his prophetic work. The qualities of Yahweh, the issue of evil, and theodicy are just a few of the topics covered in the writings of the Old Testament philosopher viewpoints on the entire ancient Israelite religion. To determine if Jesus serves as the Servant of God referred to in Deutero-Isaiah, the paper contextualizes Isaiah chapters 53 and 61. The evolution of Heilsgeschichte alludes to Ebed Yahweh’s figure. The researcher concluded that even in Palestine and mainstream crucial element thought could show that such a concept existed, it was, at best, improbable and flimsy. However, this does not change the reality that the Suffering Servant of God and the Suffering Prophet are linked. The Synoptic did apply ideas, death and Ebed's restoration covenant between God and his people to himself.

Abstract

Early relationship is very significant in developing a healthy personality. What a child experience during first three years of life can have a lifelong impact. Early relationships not only act as a template of the brain, but also mold and shape the child’s ability for future relationships with others. Early relationship also becomes the determinant of normal or pathological splitting. Splitting is universal and not all splitting cause a pathology. Maternal-availability is essential during first three years of life. Normal splitting can happen when good-enough mother on some occasion is unavailable or unable to attend to the infant and meet his needs. The child can tolerate the good-enough mother’s unavailability at certain times because he or she is in ‘holding environment’ that makes the child feel secure, protected, and not excessively frustrated. Pathological splitting can happen when the infant receives excessively unsatisfying, frustrating and abusive experience. Severe splitting makes one to see everything in terms of black and white. He or she is not able to accept bad and good at the same time or cannot accept paradoxical qualities in others. A normal person can accept this paradoxical quality, but a personality disorder person cannot accept this paradoxical quality. Finally, early relationships influence one’s relationship to God, how he or she sees God and experience God. Three studies have found that early relationship with parents, whether secure or insecure relationships can influence how one sees God and relates to God (Gravitt, 2011; Pehr Granqvist, 2007; Rosalinda Cassibba, 2013). One who has a secure attachment with his or her parent, tend to trust God and has a secure relationship with God as well. As a therapist, it is essential that we provide a secure base for our patients or clients. Psychodynamic therapy is the kind of therapy that proved to help patients with Personality Disorders. Successful treatment should not only relieve symptoms but also make intrapsychic change by providing patients with a relationship that enables them to resolve the splitting of their ego.

Abstract

Divine healing sometimes sparks fervent debates among Bible-believing individuals about its central role in the Bible. The undeniable fact is that divine healing occurred in both the Old and New Testaments, indicating that it is not in conflict with the teachings of the Bible. When Jesus healed someone, as He frequently did, His motive was never self-glorification but rather to aid those in need. He is a compassionate Healer, a Savior, addressing both physical and spiritual ailments. In Acts of the Apostles, Chapter 3, a divine healing event is recounted, and it holds significance for evangelism. To ensure accurate and accountable data in this study, the author employed library research and exposition studies using inductive methods. The primary goals of this study were, first, to provide a clear and detailed explanation of divine healing based on Acts Chapter 3. Second, to elucidate the close relationship between faith and divine healing. Lastly, to explore the impact of divine healing on evangelism as reflected by its followers. In conclusion, divine healing is a manifestation of God's work for those who have faith in the name of Jesus. It serves the purpose of bringing individuals closer to God, nurturing love for God, inspiring a life dedicated to glorifying Him, and producing positive impacts on others.

Abstract

This study presents the influence of leadership, character, and sanctity of the congregational pastor on the spiritual growth of church members, specifically those attending the Alfa Omega Ketintang Baru Church in Surabaya. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between leadership, character, and sanctity of the congregational pastor and the spiritual growth of church members, particularly those attending the Alfa Omega Ketintang Baru Church in Surabaya. The study employs a survey method to collect data on the influence of leadership, character, and sanctity of the congregational pastor on the spiritual growth of church members. The research sample consists of 150 church members of GPdI Alfa Omega Ketintang Baru in Surabaya. Data is gathered through questionnaires and analyzed using linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis indicate a positive correlation between leadership, character, and sanctity of the congregational pastor and the spiritual growth of church members. The research finds that improvements in leadership, character, and sanctity of the congregational pastor are associated with an increase in the spiritual growth of GPdI Alfa Omega Ketintang Baru church members in Surabaya. The results are as follows: When looking at the population, a t-value of 4.321 for leadership, 3.378 for character, and 5.721 for sanctity is obtained, which is significant at a < 0.05 level. This implies that the variables of leadership, character, and sanctity of the congregational pastor significantly influence the spiritual growth of GPdI Alfa Omega Ketintang Baru church members in Surabaya. Future studies could expand the scope of this research by involving more variables that affect the spiritual growth of church members. Additionally, it is essential to conduct evaluations of church programs, collaborate with mission agencies, and implement effective management systems to enhance the spiritual quality of Christians, the analysis also yielded an R-squared value (Coefficient of Determination) of 0.790 or 79.0%. This means that the contribution of the variables Leadership, Character, and Sanctity of the Congregation's Leader in shaping the Spiritual Growth of the GPdI Alfa Omega Congregation in Ketintang Baru, Surabaya, is 79.0%, while the remaining 21% is influenced by other factors outside the research model.

Abstract

The text of Psalm 68:19, quoted by Paul and used as a citation in Ephesus, is categorized by biblical scholars as a crux interpretetum, one of the verses that are difficult to interpret. There are two problems found in Paul's use of the quotation from Psalm 68:19 in his writing in Ephesians 4:8, making this a challenging verse to interpret. First, there is no apparent textual connection between Psalm 68:19 and Ephesians 4:3. Second, the motif and meaning of Paul's use of Psalm 68:19 as a reference in Ephesians 4:8 have not been clearly identified by the author. Among the eight biblical scholars, six different answers have been found, each differing from the others. The approach used to analyze the use of Psalm 68:19 in Ephesians is an intertextual approach, which is a method to find solutions to the three issues mentioned above. The result of this research is that Paul quotes Psalm 68:19 in Ephesians 4:8 as the foundation of his kerygma, asserting that his teaching in the context of Ephesians 4 is the same truth as the teaching in Psalm 68:19, which also harmonizes with the context of Numbers 8. The quotation of Psalm 68:19 in Ephesians 4:8 by Paul affirms that what he teaches is the same truth as the Old Testament. God and Jesus Christ are the same Person acting on His people, both giving and receiving among humanity.

Abstract

Habakkuk 2:4 conveys the contrast between the life of a proud person עפל (`aphal) or a person with all pride and dishonesty contrasted with a righteous person דִּיק ( tsaddiq ) who lives with faithfulness. Habakkuk has given an understanding that each person has a personal relationship with God and must live in loyalty to Him. People who are arrogant depend on human strength and abilities, while righteous people live by relying on faith in God. This verse quoted by Paul (Rom. 1:17, Gal. 3:11) and the book of Hebrews (Heb. 10:38). This section provides teaching about the importance of living with loyalty to God and relying on Him in every aspect of life and the implications in Biblical Counselling.

Abstract

This research highlights the significance of leadership in the spiritual growth of the congregation within the context of the Indonesian Christian Holy Church (GKKI) in Jabodetabek. The correlation analysis results indicate that Shepherd Leadership holds a substantial relationship with Spiritual Growth (correlation coefficient = 0.693, Sig < 0.1). These findings demonstrate that the comprehension and execution of vision and mission by a spiritual leader have a considerable impact on enhancing the quantity of faith among the congregation. This study suggests that spiritual leaders need to have a thorough understanding of their roles and responsibilities in order to lead effectively, mitigate conflicts, and shepherd competently. Furthermore, the research findings shed light on challenges faced by the congregation, such as difficulties in spiritual growth. This research makes a significant contribution to understanding the dynamics of spiritual leadership within the GKKI context in Jabodetabek.

Abstract

The Book of Jonah contains the word 'yarad' four times, which constitutes one of the recurring motifs in the text. Its usage is often interpreted as indicative of multidimensional degradation and is even associated with foreshadowing Christ's redemptive work. However, a critical question arises: What was the author of the Book of Jonah attempting to underscore through the repeated inclusion of the word 'yarad'? This study aims to delve into the occurrences of 'yarad' in the Book of Jonah through stylistic analysis to discern patterns, thereby elucidating the author's intent in employing these repetitions throughout the narrative. The methodology employed is stylistic analysis, with particular attention paid to the repetitive element. Consequently, discernible patterns emerge in 1:3b, 1:3c, 1:5b, and 2:6a, which exhibit a tendency towards diminishment yet encompass contrasts and pivotal moments. Consequently, it becomes evident that the author of the Book of Jonah strategically employs the word 'yarad' four times to accentuate contrasts, degradation, and pivotal shifts.

Abstract

Faith is the main theme in James chapter two. Again, James has his exhortation and reason (purpose) to back up his exhortation. In this chapter, however, James uses a personal (2:4, 6), theological (2:5, 7, 19-20), and scriptural reflection (2:8-11, 21, 23, 25) in his reason (purpose). These reflections reveal that James exhorts his readers that are familiar with a Jewish background and his exhortation is personal. Interestingly, James provides his commentaries on Biblical quotations (2:22, 24, 26).

Abstract

Every member of the church is expected to experience ideal faith growth. However, in reality, many congregations still struggle to achieve this ideal growth. Even at GBT Kristus Ajaib Surabaya, several congregations face challenges in attaining ideal faith growth. These challenges include a tendency to become complacent with online worship, leading to laziness in attending physical services, and a misguided motivation for worship, driven by expectations of economic assistance in the form of money or groceries. The objective of this study is to investigate whether the pastor's leadership style influences the faith growth of the congregation at GBT Kristus Ajaib Surabaya. This research employs quantitative methods, with 78 church members participating as respondents. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire and analyzed using simple linear regression. The leadership style instrument utilized in this study is based on the dimensional theory proposed by Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard, while the faith growth instrument is based on the dimensional theory by Benson, Donahue, and Erickson. The analysis reveals a positive correlation between the pastor's leadership style and the congregation's faith growth. The study concludes that the pastor's leadership style significantly impacts the congregation's faith growth at GBT Kristus Ajaib Surabaya, accounting for 60.1% of the variance. Therefore, collaborative efforts are necessary from government bodies, synods, and local churches to foster further growth in the congregation's faith.
