Abstract

Fine motor skill acquisition represents a foundational aspect of early childhood development, underpinning children's later readiness for writing and independent daily activities. A preliminary observation at Kristina Waur Kindergarten, Kei Besar, Southeast Maluku Regency, found that most class A children aged 4-5 years had not yet mastered adequate fine motor coordination, shown by difficulty gripping coloring instruments, limited wrist flexibility, and untidy coloring within picture outlines. This study was carried out to describe how crayon coloring activities can be used to strengthen young children's fine motor abilities. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design based on the Kemmis and Taggart spiral model was applied over two cycles, each comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection stages, involving 13 class A children as research subjects. Data were gathered through non-participatory observation, interviews with the school principal and class teacher, and documentation, then processed using a percentage-achievement formula referring to four developmental categories: Not Yet Developing (BB), Starting to Develop (MB), Developing According to Expectations (BSH), and Very Well Developed (BSB). The findings revealed that in Cycle I, 3 children (23.08%) remained in the Not Yet Developing category, 6 children (46.15%) were classified as Starting to Develop, and 4 children (30.77%) reached the Developing According to Expectations category. Following refinement of the coloring activities in Cycle II, the results improved markedly: 1 child (7.69%) was recorded as Starting to Develop, 4 children (30.77%) as Developing According to Expectations, and 8 children (61.54%) as Very Well Developed. These results confirm that theme-based crayon coloring activities, reinforced by consistent and individualized teacher guidance, are effective in accelerating fine motor development in children aged 4-5 years. Early childhood educators are encouraged to design varied, patterned coloring tasks as a routine part of daily learning to optimize children's fine motor readiness ahead of formal schooling.

Abstract

Sea turtle conservation ecotourism at Kili-Kili Beach (PTKK), Trenggalek, faces dual sustainability challenges stemming from high tourism potential and coastal geo-hazards. This study aims to analyze sustainability dynamics using the DPSIR framework (Driving-Pressure-State- Impact-Response) and assess community disaster resilience using the Hazard-Vulnerability- Capacity (HVC) framework to formulate structured mitigation strategies. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method through in-depth analysis, evaluating suitability indices (IKW: 84.93%; IKH: 77.77%) and primary data from interviews with the Community Watch Group (POKMASWAS) and area managers. DPSIR results showed a critical conflict where IKW exceeds IKH, driven mainly by educational tourism and weekend visits controlled by strict Village Regulations. Although POKMASWAS achieved highly effective local success (95% hatching rate), systemic decline (population decrease since 2013) suggests pressures beyond local management. HVC analysis highlighted high Vulnerability to Tsunami (near the Austroasian Trench) and Abrasion, exacerbated by residential areas being flat with sea level and the lack of structural Early Warning Systems (EWS). Mitigation capacity is strong in Eco-DRR (mangrove and pandanus planting), favored over expensive Giant Sea Walls, but weakened by reliance on signs and daytime WhatsApp communication for tsunamis. Therefore, a transformation is necessary: shifting from reactive management to data-based coastal landscape management using 60 biodiversity inventory points, formalizing Ecologically Essential Area (KEE) zoning, and strengthening POKMASWAS institutional capacity to reduce anthropogenic risk and build holistic resilience.

Abstract

Early childhood education plays a crucial role in supporting children's growth and development, particularly in the cognitive domain. Cognitive development enables children to think, explore, solve problems, recognize concepts, and understand their surrounding environment. However, many children still experience difficulties in cognitive activities such as recognizing colors, classifying objects, understanding simple concepts, and solving basic problems. One of the learning media that can stimulate children's cognitive development is colored sand media, which provides direct sensory experiences through exploration, manipulation, and creative play activities. This study aims to determine the effect of using colored sand media on the cognitive abilities of children aged 5–6 years at TK Negeri Pembina 1 Bengkulu City. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design. The participants were children aged 5–6 years enrolled at TK Negeri Pembina 1 Bengkulu City. Data were collected through observation, assessment sheets, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using statistical techniques to compare children's cognitive abilities before and after the implementation of colored sand media in learning activities. The findings indicate that the use of colored sand media has a positive effect on children's cognitive abilities. Through activities involving colored sand, children demonstrated improvements in recognizing colors, classifying objects, understanding simple concepts, exploring their environment, and solving problems during learning activities. The hands-on and sensory-based experiences provided by colored sand media increased children's engagement, concentration, creativity, and active participation in the learning process. Therefore, the use of colored sand media can be considered an effective learning medium for enhancing the cognitive abilities of children aged 5–6 years. The implementation of attractive and interactive learning media is essential in supporting optimal cognitive development and creating meaningful learning experiences in early childhood education

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh aktivitas meronce terhadap keterampilan motorik halus anak usia 5-6 tahun di PAUD Al-Fikri, Desa Nanti Agung, Kecamatan Semidang Alas, Kabupaten Seluma. Keterampilan motorik halus merupakan salah satu aspek perkembangan anak usia dini yang perlu dirangsang melalui aktivitas yang menarik dan sesuai dengan karakteristik anak. Salah satu aktivitas yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan ini adalah aktivitas meronce karena melibatkan koordinasi mata dan tangan, ketelitian, kelenturan jari, dan keterampilan mengendalikan gerakan tangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode eksperimental. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi-eksperimen dengan kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 120 anak usia 5-6 tahun yang dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, yaitu 60 anak di kelompok eksperimen yang diberi perlakuan aktivitas meronce dan 60 anak kelompok kontrol yang diberi aktivitas bermain plastisin. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah... Analisis dilakukan menggunakan uji prasyarat analitis dan uji hipotesis (uji-t). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan motorik halus anak setelah diberikan aktivitas meronce. Pada kelompok eksperimen, sebelum diberikan perlakuan, sebagian besar anak berada pada kategori belum berkembang (BB), sedangkan setelah diberikan aktivitas meronce, sebagian besar anak meningkat ke kategori sangat berkembang (BSB). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa aktivitas meronce berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keterampilan motorik halus anak usia 5-6 tahun di PAUD Al-Fikri, Desa Nanti Agung, Kecamatan Semidang Alas, Kabupaten Seluma. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa aktivitas bermain menggunakan media seperti manik-manik, sedotan, tutup botol, dan biji-bijian efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan motorik halus pada anak usia dini. This study aims to determine the influence of meronce activities on the fine motor skills of children aged 5-6 years at PAUD Al-Fikri, Nanti Agung Village, Semidang Alas District, Seluma Regency. Fine motor skills are one of the aspects of early childhood development that need to be stimulated through activities that are interesting and in accordance with the characteristics of the child. One of the activities that can improve this ability is meronce activities because it involves eye and hand coordination, precision, finger flexibility, and skills in controlling hand movements. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method. The research design used was a quasi-experiment with the experimental group and the control group. The research sample amounted to 120 children aged 5-6 years who were divided into two groups, namely 60 children in the experimental group who were given meronce activity treatment and 60 control group children who were given plasticine play activities. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, tests, and documentation. Data were analyzed using analytical prerequisite tests and hypothesis tests (t-tests). The results of the study showed that there was an increase in children's fine motor skills after being given meronce activities. In the experimental group, before being given treatment, most of the children were in the undeveloped category (BB), while after being given the meronce activity, most of the children improved to the very good developed category (BSB). The results of the analysis showed that meronce activities had a significant influence on the fine motor skills of children aged 5–6 years at PAUD Al-Fikri, Nanti Agung Village, Semidang Alas District, Seluma Regency. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that meronce activities using media such as beads, straws, bottle caps, and grains are effective in improving fine motor skills in early childhood.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) hardware has enabled autonomous systems to make life-and-death decisions without direct human intervention. From self-driving vehicles that navigate urban streets to military drones equipped with lethal autonomous capabilities, and surveillance systems that algorithmically profile individuals, AI has transcended its origins as mere software to become embedded in silicon chips, sensors, and embedded systems. This phenomenon raises profound theological questions: When machines make decisions affecting human life, does human moral agency remain intact? How should the concept of Imago Dei (the image of God) be understood when electronic systems process decisions of life and death? This article employs a systematic theological-normative methodology, integrating hermeneutical analysis of biblical texts (Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 8, Colossians 1:15), doctrinal synthesis from patristic to contemporary theology (Irenaeus, Augustine, Barth, Pannenberg, Zizioulas), and empirical data from autonomous vehicle incidents, military AI applications, and surveillance technologies. The findings demonstrate that between July 2021 and November 2025, autonomous vehicles were involved in 5,202 reported incidents in the United States alone, resulting in 451 injuries and fatalities, while military AI systems have raised critical concerns regarding meaningful human control and moral accountability. Theologically, this article argues that human moral agency remains irreducible to algorithmic processes, grounded in the ontological distinctiveness of Imago Dei which encompasses relational covenant with God, intrinsic moral consciousness, and eschatological destiny. While AI hardware functions as an extension of human creativity reflecting the imago Dei, it cannot possess the spiritual-relational essence that constitutes human personhood. The conclusion offers ethical-pastoral guidelines for navigating the tension between technological progress and theological anthropology, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining human moral oversight in autonomous systems.

Abstract

The rapid development of smart technology demands the adjustment of human resource competencies in various technological, business, and industrial sectors. However, field observations revealed that Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) alumni, both entrepreneurs and employees in engineering fields, experienced competency gaps because smart technology material and sustainability principles had not been comprehensively accommodated in the previous curriculum. This activity aimed to align competencies and facilitate sustainable digital transformation for UM alumni through training and mentoring in Smart Green Technology and Sustainability. The activity was carried out through an interactive project-based approach divided into six effective face-to-face meetings. The methods applied included in-depth needs analysis, delivery of theoretical materials, programming and hardware installation workshops, and analysis of environmentally friendly technology implementation in the participants' business units. The results of this community service activity showed significant improvements in technological literacy, practical skills, and awareness of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability among alumni. The pre-test and post-test assessments recorded an average increase in technical understanding of 48.5%, with 70% of participating entrepreneurial alumni successfully designing an initial prototype for integrating an IoT-based monitoring system into their business units. This activity demonstrates that collaborative synergy between universities and alumni can bridge the barrier of high external training costs while accelerating UM alumni's progress in remaining competitive, adaptive, and environmentally conscious amid the rapid dynamics of the digital era
