Abstract

Orphans are a special group of children who are generally marginalized and vulnerable to mental disorders. Efforts that can be made are to provide education about the importance of maintaining mental health as an effort to improve mental health. So that education can be easily understood by school age children, education needs to be delivered using varied media, namely pop-up book media because pop-up books provide surprises on every page which will make the story even more real. This research aims to determine the effect of using pop up book media on the mental health of school-aged children. This research is a quasi-experimental quantitative research using a pretest-posttest control group design approach with 20 respondents divided into 10 intervention groups and 10 control groups. Data measurement with the SDQ instrument. Univariate data analysis using frequency distribution. Bivariate analysis uses paired t-test. The results of mental health research after being given pop-up book media were that in the intervention group, 10 respondents were in the normal category (100%) while in the control group 8 respondents were in the abnormal category (80%) and 2 respondents were in the borderline category (20% . which was tested using the paired t-test, the p-value was 0.001 or p < 0.05. This shows that there is a significant difference in mental health before and after being given education using pop up book media. There is a significant influence between mental health before and after being given pop-up book media at the Sumatra Rindang Foundation. It is hoped that the Sumatra Rindang Foundation can develop pop-up book media for a more interesting and effective learning process.

Abstract

Background: The most frequently encountered problem of individuals who are in transition period from childhood to adulthood is deteriorated cardiorespiratory endurance due to low physical activity. Adolescents had low physical activity because of their sedentary lifestyle. The exercise that could boost their cardiorespiratory endurance is long duration exercise with moderate intensity, such as skipping exercise. Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of skipping exercise on the endurance level of adolescents age 15-18 years in Gribin Volleyball Community, Surabaya. Methods: This study utilized an experimental analytics method with pre-test and post-test with control group design. The sample consisted of members Gribin Volleyball Community Surabaya aged 15-18 years. The endurance level was evaluated using PACER test, then the data was analyzed using Shapiro-Wilk test for normality prior to the next analysis. Then, in order to compare the data in-between and between groups, Paired T-test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank test, and Mann-Whitney U test were performed. Results: The mean of post-test VO2Max in the control group was 20.80 ± 0.94 ml/kg/min, while the mean of post-test VO2Max in the intervention group was 23.64 ± 1.85 ml/kg/min. The Mann-Whitney U test results showed a significant different of the post-test VO2Max between group with p-value of 0.000 (P<0.05). Conclusion: The skipping exercise had a significant effect on improving endurance level among adolescents age 15-18 years in Gribin Volleyball Community, Surabaya. Abstract

Stress is one factor that can cause dysmenorrhea, a menstrual disorder. Stress can increase the production of prostaglandin hormones, which can stimulate uterine muscle contractions, resulting in pain. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between stress levels and the incidence of dysmenorrhea in female students at SMP Negeri 4 Banyuwangi. The research method was descriptive correlational using a cross-sectional approach with a purposive sampling technique and 72 respondents. Key findings showed that among adolescents, 26.4% had mild stress, 26.4% moderate stress, 23.6% normal stress, 16.7% severe stress, and 6.9% very severe stress. Regarding dysmenorrhea, 48.6% reported moderate pain, 29.2% mild pain, 18.1% severe pain, and 4.2% unbearable pain. There was a statistically significant correlation between stress levels and dysmenorrhea incidence (t-test, p=0.000, correlation coefficient 0.74), indicating that higher stress is associated with higher intensity of dysmenorrhea. Further research is recommended to include other variables such as age at menarche and family history.

Abstract

Chronic energy deficiency (CED) is one of the nutritional problems commonly found in pregnant women in Indonesia, which can affect the health of the mother and fetus. CED in pregnant women is associated with various factors, including the mother's age and parity. At the Sawa Community Health Center in North Konawe Regency, the prevalence of CED in pregnant women is still quite high. This study aims to analyze the relationship between maternal age and parity with the incidence of CEM in pregnant women at the Sawa Community Health Center in North Konawe Regency. This study used a quantitative research design with a cross-sectional approach. This study was conducted in the working area of the Abuki Community Health Center, from July 4, 2025, to August 2, 2025. The population in this study consisted of all 222 pregnant women in the working area of the Abuki Community Health Center from January to April 2025, with a sample size of 158 respondents. The sampling technique used in this study was accidental sampling. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square statistical test with a significance level of p-value 0.05. The results of the chi-square statistical test on the variable of maternal age obtained a p-value of 0.033 and parity obtained a p-value of 0.000. There is a relationship between maternal age and the occurrence of chronic energy deficiency in pregnant women, and there is no relationship between parity and the occurrence of chronic energy deficiency in pregnant women. Therefore, more intensive prevention and intervention efforts need to be focused on this group of pregnant women to prevent CED and improve maternal and fetal health.

Abstract

Elderly individuals are an age group that is vulnerable to various health problems, one of which is the risk of falling. Falls among the elderly can lead to injuries, decreased quality of life, and even death. Therefore, it is important to identify factors associated with the risk of falls, especially among older adults living in social care institutions such as nursing homes. This study aimed to describe the risk of falls among elderly residents at the Budi Luhur Social Institution for the Elderly (PSTW) in Jambi City. This research used a descriptive quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 58 elderly individuals selected using a total sampling technique. The instrument used was the Morse Fall Scale to assess the level of fall risk. Data were analyzed univariately and presented in the form of frequency distributions and percentages. The results showed that most of the elderly had a high risk of falling, totaling 43 respondents (74.13%), while 15 respondents (25.86%) had a moderate risk of falling. The factors contributing to a higher risk of falls included muscle weakness, balance disorders, the use of walking aids, and a history of previous falls. In conclusion, the majority of elderly individuals at the Budi Luhur Social Institution in Jambi City had a high risk of falling. Preventive efforts such as physical exercises to improve strength and balance, fall prevention education, and creating a safe environment are necessary to reduce the risk of falls among the elderly.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) was an infectious disease caused by a rod-shaped bacterium (bacillus) known as Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It is transmitted through the saliva or phlegm of an infected person, which contains the pulmonary tuberculosis bacillus. Mycobacterium tuberculosis often attacks the lungs but can also affect the skin, lymph nodes, bones, and meninges. TB is both curable and preventable. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-acceptance and treatment adherence in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The population was all pulmonary tuberculosis patients within the Nguling Pasuruan Community Health Center (Puskesmas). A purposive sampling technique was used to select 30 respondents. The study instrument used the MMAS-8 self-acceptance questionnaire. Data analysis used the Spearman Rank test with a p-value ≤ 0.05. The Spearman Rank test results yielded a p-value of 0.000, meaning a p-value <0.05, indicating a strong relationship between self-acceptance and treatment adherence in pulmonary tuberculosis patients. Healthcare professionals are expected to assist patients by increasing their knowledge, providing psychological support, and fostering self-acceptance regarding their illness. It is hoped that with good self-acceptance, patients will be able to optimally comply with treatment.
