Jurnal Baitul al-‘ulum : Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi terbit dua kali dalam satu tahun (setiap bulan Juni dan Desember) merupakan kumpulan hasil karya dosen, pustakawan, peneliti dan arsiparis dengan lingkup kajian perpustakaan, kepustakawanan, informasi (information studies) dan kearsipan, karena itu menjadi wadah pengembangan ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi yang kritis, dinamis dan aktual. Jurnal Al- Baitul al-‘ulum : Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi menampilkan karya tulis berbahasa Indonesia dengan fokus pada perkembangan keilmuan yang merupakan hasil penelitian atau kajian teoritis yang berkaitan dengan literatur perpustakaan dan informasi serta kearsipan. Jurnal ini diterbitkan oleh Jurusan Ilmu Perpustakaan dan informasi Fakultas Adab dan Humaniora UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, baik edisi cetak maupun online. Jurnal ini bertujuan untuk memunculkan hasil karya dari penelitian secara berkualitas berdasarkan data aktual dan asli yang berkontribusi untuk para dosen, pustakawan, peneliti dan arsiparis studi ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi. Dari aspek perpustakaan diharapkan akan dapat ditampilkan analisis terhadap konsep/ teori dan struktur kajian ilmu perpustakaan yang mencakup kepustakawanan. Serta dari aspek informasi (information studies) diharapkan akan dapat dimunculkan analisis tentang teknologi informasi, sosial informasi (information social) dan lain-lain secara konprehensif dan berkualitas.

Abstract

This research examines the implementation of preventive preservation activities for the painting collection at the Indonesian National Gallery (GNI) as a form of preserving national cultural heritage. The importance of this study lies in the urgency of protecting national collection paintings from the threat of damage due to environmental, handling and institutional factors. The method used is a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation studies. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model of content analysis techniques and data triangulation to ensure the validity of the findings. The research results show that preventive preservation activities at GNI have been carried out through careful collection packaging, storage space control, and documentation of collection conditions, but are still not standardized as a whole. The main problems lie in limited microclimate control, uneven distribution of facilities, and the absence of SOPs and sustainable preventive financing. The conclusion of this research states that the implementation of preventive preservation at GNI is still partial. Institutional policies, special budgets, as well as improvements in infrastructure and human resource capacity are needed to create a systematic and sustainable preservation system. This research recommends the preparation of preservation policies that are integrated with institutional policies and technical practices in the field.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the promotion strategy of the Bangkit Library in fostering a culture of literacy in the community of Kota Baru District, Jambi City, and identify the obstacles faced. The low interest in literacy in some Jambi communities shows the urgency of a study on the effectiveness of library promotion. A descriptive qualitative approach was used to collect data through interviews, observations, and documentation. Key informants included library managers and community representatives. Data analysis was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The promotion strategy of the Bangkit Library includes oral promotion, distribution of pamphlets, and use of social media (Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube). Cooperation with the Archives and Library Service of Jambi City, Posyandu, and schools has also been established. Internal obstacles include limited funds, duplicate human resources, and limited collections. The main external factor is the lack of public interest. The findings show that although promotional efforts have been made, this obstacle hinders the optimization of increasing literacy. The Bangkit Library has implemented various promotional strategies, but is constrained by internal issues (funds, human resources, collections) and external issues (public interest). It is recommended to develop a "Thematic Mobile Library" program with interactive activities and recruit "Community Digital Literacy Ambassadors" from local residents. This innovation is expected to overcome obstacles and make promotions more effective and attractive to the community. Keywords: Promotion Strategy, Information Literacy, Public.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi program kelas menulis komunitas Kanot Bu terhadap literasi informasi. Aspek evaluasi dan literasi informasi mencakupi bentuk kegiatan program, dampak terhadap literasi informasi, perubahan cara mengakses informasi, umpan balik peserta dan anggota komunitas, penghargaan dan pengakuan serta kendala yang dihadapi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Pengumpulan data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Subjek dalam penelitian ini 5 orang peserta dan 3 orang anggota komunitas yang dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tahap reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan data yang ditemukan di lapangan, komunitas Kanot Bu telah berupaya dalam memperkuat budaya literasi informasi melalui tulisan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa program ini menghasilkan pandangan yang positif dari peserta terhadap kegiatan menulis serta meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis mereka dalam mencari dan mengakses informasi menggunakannya dalam tulisan mereka. Meskipun demikian, terdapat beberapa kendala yang dihadapi peserta yaitu keterbatasan waktu, akses yang sulit menuju lokasi serta rendahnya tingkat kepercayaan diri terhadap kemampuan menulis peserta. Oleh karena itu, program ini disarankan untuk dipertahankan dan dikembangkan agar dapat menjangkau lebih banyak peserta dalam memperkuat literasi informasi.

Based on the writing that was done, the following results and conclusions were obtained: The Role of the Jambi Province Library and Archives Service in Growing Public Interest in Reading Through Digital Reading Corners at the Jambi City Samsat, therefore it can be seen that the Role of the Jambi Province Library and Archives Service is: Collaboration with Various Agencies One of which is the Samsat Digital Reading Corner, Increasing Accessibility of Books and Information, Literacy Programs and Socialization. Abstract

This article aims to find out and see the role of the library through the literacy class service program at Telkom University's Open Library. The research method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive research method, with data collection techniques carried out through observation, observation, and literature study. The type of data collected is subjective which explains in detail the events or phenomena that are or have occurred. The results of this study indicate that the material taught in the literacy class program is to provide special knowledge related to the academic activities of the community and also especially in writing scientific papers. The modules that have been compiled by Telkom University OpenLibrary librarians in this literacy class program include: Information Search Module, Reference Manager Tools Module, and Academic Integrity & Plagiarism Module. It is hoped that through the literacy class program and also the learning provided which cannot be obtained in the classroom is expected to help and provide additional knowledge, especially students in improving their abilities in writing scientific papers.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Students need relevant information to support productivity in their studies. This study aims to identify the information-seeking behavior of students at the University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo (UMPO). This study used a descriptive qualitative method with observation and in-depth interviews with four students of the Islamic Library and Information Science (IPII) Study Program from various intakes (2022–2024). Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, verification, and conclusion drawing, and interpreted based on Ellis's information-seeking behavior model theory. The results showed that most informants had systematically applied the stages in Ellis's model, starting from starting, chaining, browsing, differentiating, monitoring, extracting, verifying, to ending. However, it was found that a small number of informants did not use any of these stages. This finding illustrates that the majority of students have a structured information-seeking pattern in accordance with Ellis's theoretical framework. Abstract

Sebagai salah satu jenis koleksi perpustakaan yang paling rentan mengalami kerusakan, koleksi tercetak perlu perhatian lebih dalam upaya pelestarian koleksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor penyebab kerusakan koleksi tercetak, serta upaya pencegahan dan perbaikan kerusakan koleksi tercetak di Dinas Kearsipan dan Perpustakaan Kabupaten Boyolali. Metode yang digunakan yaitu kualitatif bersifat deskriptif, data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kerusakan koleksi tercetak di Dinas Kearsipan dan Perpustakaan Kabupaten Boyolali disebabkan oleh faktor internal yang berasal dari kualitas kertas dan lem perekat, serta faktor eksternal yang berasal dari faktor lingkungan, seperti paparan cahaya, suhu dan kelembaban, debu serta faktor manusia dari pengguna perpustakaan. Pencegahan kerusakan koleksi tercetak dilakukan dengan memasang kaca film dan tirai, menghidupkan AC dengan suhu 20° Celcius selama jam layanan, membersihkan debu pada koleksi, mengatur jarak koleksi, pemberian kapur barus, memasang poster peraturan perpustakaan, menyediakan kotak khusus pengembalian koleksi, serta memasang fire sprinkler. Perbaikan kerusakan koleksi tercetak dilakukan secara mandiri oleh pustakawan dengan membedakan tingkat kerusakan menjadi tiga, yaitu kerusakan ringan, kerusakan sedang, dan kerusakan berat.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the nine library accreditation instruments at the MA Darul Ulum Banda Aceh library, which has received an A accreditation rating. The quality of library services is the main focus, as it support the teaching and learning process and contributed to achieving national standards. The research employs a cased study approach, involving semi-structured interviews, observations, and documentation analysis of accreditation forms. The results show that the library successfully achieved a total score of 92.02 out of 100, indicating excellent service quality, particularly in the areas of library services and management. The main challenges identified include limited collection development due to budget constraints and the need to enhance staff competencies of library staff through continuous training. Innovations such us form of literacy activities and the establishment of reading communities also helped strengthen the library's role as an active learning center.

Abstract

Introduction. The dissemination of public information through digital video at the Office of Communication, Informatics, and Statistics (Diskominfotik) of West Sumatra Province focuses on the editing process and the content standards applied. This study is important because digital video has become a primary medium for government communication in delivering information to the public in a fast, accurate, and transparent manner in the digital era. Data Collection Methods. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with three informants who were directly involved in the video content production process.. Data Analysis. Data were analyzed through stages of observation, interviews, data reduction, and conclusion drawing to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the workflow of the video editing process. Results and Discussion. The findings indicate that the video editing process at Diskominfotik is conducted based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that refer to public information disclosure regulations and government communication ethics. The editing stages include footage selection, message structuring, voice-over recording, subtitle insertion, and multi-level review by relevant officials as a form of information gatekeeping. Technical obstacles such as audio quality issues, field conditions, and visual synchronisation problems are addressed through editing techniques and content adjustments. Conclusion. The video production strategy implemented by Diskominfotik is effective in enhancing the accuracy, accessibility, and effectiveness of public information dissemination. Future studies are recommended to examine audience perceptions of government video content.
