Jurnal Baitul al-‘ulum : Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi terbit dua kali dalam satu tahun (setiap bulan Juni dan Desember) merupakan kumpulan hasil karya dosen, pustakawan, peneliti dan arsiparis dengan lingkup kajian perpustakaan, kepustakawanan, informasi (information studies) dan kearsipan, karena itu menjadi wadah pengembangan ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi yang kritis, dinamis dan aktual. Jurnal Al- Baitul al-‘ulum : Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi menampilkan karya tulis berbahasa Indonesia dengan fokus pada perkembangan keilmuan yang merupakan hasil penelitian atau kajian teoritis yang berkaitan dengan literatur perpustakaan dan informasi serta kearsipan. Jurnal ini diterbitkan oleh Jurusan Ilmu Perpustakaan dan informasi Fakultas Adab dan Humaniora UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, baik edisi cetak maupun online. Jurnal ini bertujuan untuk memunculkan hasil karya dari penelitian secara berkualitas berdasarkan data aktual dan asli yang berkontribusi untuk para dosen, pustakawan, peneliti dan arsiparis studi ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi. Dari aspek perpustakaan diharapkan akan dapat ditampilkan analisis terhadap konsep/ teori dan struktur kajian ilmu perpustakaan yang mencakup kepustakawanan. Serta dari aspek informasi (information studies) diharapkan akan dapat dimunculkan analisis tentang teknologi informasi, sosial informasi (information social) dan lain-lain secara konprehensif dan berkualitas.

This article aims to know about the learning process on majors lecture at library and Information science departement. This Research focussed on applying systems model the colaborative learning in the development of ability of students’s information literacy for student of library and information science departement of the Adab and Humaniora Faculty of the state Islamic University of SulthanThaha Saifuddin Jambi. The result of this research showed that the learning process condition of students of the fifth semester (A/B/C) of 2016/2017 academic was good even to lower category. The describt of learning result for the student’s ibrary and information science of the fifth (A/B/C) on 2016 / 2017 academic for six lectures were goodness have visible with the value estimation obtained by B or B+ predicate or 7 - 7,99 predicate. The factors that influenced lecturer in learning process to the students of the fifth semester ( A/B/C) of Majors of Library Science are; teaching method of lecturer, support of literatures; and the systems of teaching planning for lecturer. The collaborative learning model what expected in the improving efforts of the student information literacy are; Engagement, Exploration, Transformation, Presentation, and Reflection.

This research aims to understand the role of al-Hakim Biamrillah in developing of Dar Al-Hikmah library in Egypt during his leadership as Khalifah Daulah Fatimiyah. The research used a qualitative approach based on literature, both primary and secondary sources. This study found a number of important points related to the development of Dar Al-Hikmah library for the role played by the Khalifah al-Hakim. The first role played by al-Hakim is management of Dar Al-Hikmah library with the appointment of library managers to handle the library collections. The second role is the development of collection through procurement, especially related to the mechanism of purchasing books, both from local and other the countries. The last role concerns the library as a center for the development of science and teaching. As a center of science, this period is marked by the birth of great scientists, such as Ali bin Nu'man and Ibn Killis.

This paper aims to describe and ppreciate various efforts that have been done by the Indoneian government to design the prevention and eradication of to distribution of false information (hoaks), such as (i) Rules of informtion laws and electronic transaction (UU ITE) which gives smoe santions for internet users who distribute negative content and hoaks ; and (ii) release a communication and information ministry regulation number 19 of 2014 about blocking and screening sites and developing a system “TRUST” + Positive” system which the system provides a list of negatively charged sites, but this article also provides a critical note to note from both of it. This paper also emphasize that there are still many thinsg tht can be considered to improve the effectiveness of prevention digital literacy for the community. Reading very rapid and limitless information and tools communication used to obtain such information through digital literacy.

The rapid development of technology requires every library to improve services continuosly in various aspects. The improvement of Information technology becomes an absolute must tried to achieve the goal of a library. Implementation of automation in library is a process of application done in the library from manual way to digitalization which aims to facilitate librarians in every activity and also facilitate them in tracking information. The implementation of library automation is covered in several areas: cataloging, circulation, OPAC establishment, information alert services, and the procurement of books and magazines. Every services has been automated into one application called SLiMS except the procurement of books and magazines as well as information alert service is still by manual. The causes are constrained to infrastructure, human resources, the systems used are omgood and law of budget. The efforts they undertake, among others, are the submission of letters rectorate request in addition of tools, the asking addition of human resources, and enlarging of the budget.

This article aims to know the internet exploiting through handphone media to access informtion that used by the students of the state Islamic university Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin of Jambi. This result of research has depicted that; firstly, the orient of students in exploiting handpone in framework of self development ; to support the academic activity ( lesson and research), to add the knowledge, experience, and pass the time with the entertainment amusement information. Secondly, the students’s motivation of the state Islamic university Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin of Jambi in exploiting internet as communications media include; inquiring motif namely motivation to know the new things can add knowledge, to think sistimaticly, to have construction idea, and to add the empirical experience; to motivate to compet profesionally and percepcionist, to have effectivness learning method; to have social integration and to get appreciation from academic society. Thirdly, the students’s target to exploit handphone as communications media are; diversion namely to secede from some problems, medium of emotion release; personal relationship namely friendship, social benefit, wide assocciation, firmness contact with the family and others; personal identity namely x'self reference, eksplorasi reality, reinforcement assess, wish to strengthen the self identity, belief, individual status and stability. Fourthly, Form and method of information seeking by student through handphone as communications media through article, PDF, while browsing machine is used generally the Google and Yahoo. The browsing is done only download. Finally, the students’s expectation in exploiting internet for the ptoses of x'self development are; good behaviour namely appearance of student behaviour which like to read, like to discuse to hit the knowledge dynamics in so many angle; corner, to investigate the truth performing of research, like the loran or solitary than talking with others in fad.

This writing aims to express the library manager responsibility as lead in library management through principles of library management. As we know that the information services process at Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah Kota Jambi faced some problems. The problems iclude information technology facilities ; incomplete information retrieval media ; the human resources which less be professional, and fund limitation. The problems are coused by the library manager doesn’t has librarianship knowledge and library management ; the library development program that didn’t has data to develop library in the next time ; the social relation among bad librarian. The problems can be solved by efforts through conduct the professional organizational coorporation ; support librarians to partcipate erudite activity ; increas fund ; evaluate the program which is not advantage ; use information technology facilities ; make information retrieval media not only manual but also automatic.

This writing aims to express about the subject analyse system that be done by librarian who has choosed the vocabulary to represent a document. This system analyse is very important because it will impact to information retrieval system. The librarian must analyse a document not only its but also its content, so that he will choose some good vocabularies. The system that had been done by the librarians of Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah Kota Jambi where they focused the topic of document, the uncontrolled vocobulary (bahasa alami) was not be translated in to controlled vocabulary (bahasa indeks), they didn’t think the users who use library. The weakness factors are based on ; the librarian do not understand the foreign language, they can not be indexing, they do not understand the subject analyse process. This condition will affect on the unsatisfaction of users where they will not get a document that be needed, it is not effectiveness in searching, and it is more hingher acquirement than precision.

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bentuk pembinaan karir para pustakawan Dinas Perpustakaan dan Arsip Daerah Provinsi Jambi, faktor-faktor kendala dalam pembinaan karir serta upaya yang dilakukan guna mengatasi kendala tersebut.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif.Teknik pengumpulan data meenggunakan metodeObservasi, Wawancara dan Dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk pembinaan karir yang dilaksanakan melalui empat bentuk, yaitu pembinaan melalui pendidikan, pembinaan melalui pelatihan, pembinaan melalui posisi kerja berdasarkan jabatan dan keahlian, serta pembinaan melalui organisasi profesi. Kemudian terdapat beberapa kendala dalam pembinaan karir yaitu kurangnya dana dan kurangnya perhatian dari pemerintah. Upaya yang dilakukan guna mengatasi kendala tersebut yakni menjalin kerja sama dengan Komisi X DPR RI dan Dinas Perpustakaan yang ada di provinsi lainnya, memanfaatkan dan mengelola anggaran dana yang tersedia seoptimal mungkin untuk kemajuan Perpustakaan.

ABSTRAK Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan tentang perlindungan informasi. Dimana, tindakan perlindungan kekayaan intelektual atau disebut Hak Cipta ini bertujuan untuk melindungi seseorang agar terhindar dari kegiatan-kegiatan pencurian informasi dari para plagiator yang ingin mengklaim karya orang lain sebagai karyanya. Undang-undang yang mengatur tentang Hak Cipta di Indonesia dimulai sejak dekade 80-an dengan diberlakukannya Undang-Undang Nomor 6 Tahun 1982 tentang Hak Cipta yang kemudian berturut-turut diamandemen dengan Undang-Undang Nomor 7 Tahun 1987 dan Undang-Undang Nomor 12 Tahun 1997 sampai dengan diberlakukannya Undang-Undang Hak Cipta yang terbaru yaitu Undang-Undang Nomor 19 Tahun 2002 dan berlaku secara efektif dimulai pada tanggal 23 Juli 2003.

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengkaji secara filosofis menganai kesiapan perpustakaan perguruan tinggi dalam menghadapi industri 4.0. Pembahasan diawali dengan pemaparan singkat mengenai epistimologi, ontologi dan aksiologi. Pembahasan dilanjutkan dengan mengubungkan ilmu filsafat dan ilmu filsafat manajemen sehingga dari kedua disiplin ilmu tersebut ditemukan tiga elemen dasar ilmu manajemen adalah kepemimpinan, manajemen dan adminsitrasi.Terdapat beberapa pandangan ndalan kajian filsafat manajemen terhadap revolusi industri 4.0. Pandangan tersebut yakni penggunaan tekonlogi dapat memberikan efektifitas kerja, sehingga setiap proses pekerjaan dapat diselesaikan dengan baik (smart process). Ilmu filsafat manajemen dalam kaitannya dengan perkembangan revolusi industri 4.0 setidaknya harus menyikapi beberapa hal yakni, inovasi,penurunan biaya produksi marjinal dan munculnya platform yang dapat menyatukan dan mengkonsentrasikan beberapa bidang keilmuan.Ketiga, revolusi secara global ini akan berpengaruh besar dan terbentuk di hampir semua negara di dunia, di mana cakupan transformasi ini terjadi pada setiap bidang industri, dan bahkan akan mempunyai dampak menyeluruh di banyak tempat.
