Abstract

Abstract

This research examines the determinant of bank risk with Bank Scale as the moderating variable. The determinants of bank risk in the study are Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non-Performing Loan (NPL), Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), Market Power (MP), Exchange Rate (ER), Interest Rate (IR), and Technology Investment (TI). Standard Deviation (STD) and Value at Risk (VaR) are proxies of bank risk. The bank scale is based on Bank Umum Kelompok Usaha (BUKU Bank). The unit of research analysis are conventional banks listed on the Stock Exchange of ASEAN-4 countries namely Indonesia Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand during the period of 2010 - 2019 with a total of 35 banks. Panel data regression is used to determine bank risk. The examination was conducted on banks in ASEAN-4 countries and Indonesia. The results found that banks in ASEAN-4 countries: CAR, MP, ER, IR, TI, and BB have significant negative effect on STD and LDR have significant negative effect on VaR, MP and TI have significant positive effect on VaR. For banks in Indonesia, ER positively affects STD, IR and IT negatively affect STD, NPL positively affects VaR, LDR and TI negatively affect VaR. BB has no effect on bank risk. The results of this study are expected to contribute in bank management to pay attention on bank-specific variables, especially technology investments and macroeconomic variables due to their enormous influence in increasing profitability and lowering risks.

Abstract

Environmental damage caused by individuals and household activities has increased the need to foster people to act pro-environmentally. Indonesia is an emerging country that has committed to encourage people to use reusable bag that can help reducing plastic waste and preserve the environment. However, people’s willingness to use reusable bag is far from being expected. This research aims to examine the internal and external factors as well as consequences of attitude towards using reusable bag. The questionnaire survey was administered to 300 respondents that have ever seen and understood the usability of reusable bag. Structural equation modelling was then used to analyse the data. The findings reveal that environmental knowledge, lifestyle of health and sustainability as well as moral norms do influence attitude towards reusable bag which leads to intention to use it, which is consistent with some previous studies. The study also finds that people’s attitude is not influenced by social influence from others. Managerial implications are given to the policy maker and retailers to promote reusable bag. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, no study has been conducted to integrate the external and internal factors of attitudes towards reusable bag and predicts the intention to use it. Future studies needs to test the model to other pro environmental behaviour and to conduct a cross-cultural study regarding it.

Abstract

The implementation of the values of Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI) is important to be applied and implemented in the education process to develop the quality of the lecturer's character so that its implementation can be seen through the behaviour that is reflected in a person which is a combination of all good values, including behaviour that must look like: humility, sharing and caring, discipline, professional, responsibility, and integrity. The benchmark is the courage to change its performance to become a positive and constructive work culture. This study uses a quantitative research design with a casual and interactive approach. This study found that: there is a positive and significant relationship between lecturer performance and the implementation of UKI values. The correlation coefficient is 0.612, determination is 37.4%, t-count (5,068) > (2,000), and the regression equation = 19.975 + 0.528X₁. The reciprocal relationship between lecturer performance and the implementation of UKI values is significant or positive. The higher the level of implementation of the UKI values, the higher the lecturer's performance. On the other hand, the higher the performance of the lecturers, the more they support the implementation of the UKI values. The conclusion is that implementing UKI values in academic activities or academic support will develop character qualities or personal qualities, which tend to determine the quality of one's relationships with other people and their relationship with the environment in which they are located.

Abstract

This article aims to broaden the understanding of the diversification of public responsibilities present in the intention of legislators to regulate the right to privacy and oblivion in Bill 7881/2014 and PLS 181/2014. The text adopts deductive reasoning, descriptive methodology combined with discourse analysis and theoretical framework in the General Theory of the State to explain the course of intervention that flows into the Regulatory State. The study identifies the international and economic inspiration of legislative proposals that aim to meet the demands of technological communication in a new market of data and information appropriation by corporations. The article strengthens the thesis of the diversification of public responsibilities and points out difficulties for the effectiveness of the proposed regulation due to the technical complexity and the asymmetry between users and research providers regarding the access and use of contents stored in the virtual world. The article points out contractual risks of the intense flow of exchanges on the internet and warns of the absence of a transnational State that will protect the right to privacy and oblivion globally, in the face of the power of large corporations.

Abstract

One of the duties of the regulatory agencies is precisely the solution of conflicts between players in the sector at the administrative level. When analyzing the forms of dispute resolution in the European Union, a peculiar behavior can be highlighted. In major disputes that occur on the continent, it is more common to use arbitration than the judiciary. In fact, arbitration can be used by ANATEL as an important tool to ensure a broad, free and fair competition between providers of telecommunications services, as it dodges the slowness of the judiciary and the possibility of sham litigations, enabling the rapid adoption of a decision that often affects the rights of a great number of users of telecommunications services. The high prestige enjoyed by these methods of dispute resolution pays homage to their characteristic of being a neutral forum positioned far from a regulatory agency of a specific country and close to referees chosen by common agreement, or even connected to international institutions that provide the arbitration services in commercial disputes.

The KIR e-test program is a service innovation by changing the manual KIR test system using an IT-based system so that the KIR e-test application can simplify and shorten the service time for people who will do the KIR test. This study uses a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. The data collection techniques used include observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. From the results of the study, it was concluded that the implementation of the KIR e-test program had been implemented but encountered several obstacles, including information on changes in testing procedures from manual to electronic has not been informed to the public, so there are still people who think that the testing procedures carried out take a long time, so that vehicle owners prefer to use the services of brokers in testing the UPTD PKB Dishub Garut still lacks testers, especially testers who are certified and do not have a backup of e-KIR infrastructure. Implementing the KIR e-test is still prone to illegal levies because there are still brokers who call themselves service bureaus in collaboration with unscrupulous officers.
