Abstract

Hypertension is still a major health problem in Indonesia. Various efforts to overcome the problem of hypertension have been made, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. A therapy based on the patient's habits or culture will certainly be easier to implement and obey by. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the effect of self-acupressure on blood pressure, headache, and sleep quality of hypertensive patients. The research method used is a quasi-experiment, single-group pre-post-test design. The sample in this study were hypertensive patients who fit the inclusion and exclusion criteria at Wonokerto Health Centre, Pekalongan Regency. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate analysis. Bivariate analysis used paired group t-test technique. The results showed that there was an effect of self-acupressure in reducing systolic blood pressure (p-value: 0.004), headache pain scale (p-value: 0.001), and decreased sleep quality disorder score (p value: 0.000). Massaging at acupressure points has the effect of improving blood flow, stimulating endorphin hormones and providing a relaxing effect so that it can reduce blood pressure, headache pain scale and sleep quality disturbance scores. Recommendations for future research are to add a control group and/or compare it with other independent complementary therapy techniques.

Abstract

Al-hijamah, or cupping therapy, uses a cupping device to vacuum suction the skin. The recommendation and virtues of cupping are found in various hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). It has been used traditionally for centuries and is gaining recognition for its potential health benefits, especially in women's reproductive health. The aim of this review is to map the research results on the cupping method (Al-hijamah) as an evidence-based treatment method for addressing reproductive problems in women. This narrative review uses databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, EBSCO, and Grey Literature, as well as Google Scholar and Research Rabbit. Based on the results of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 13 articles were retrieved, and 2 themes were obtained, namely the role of cupping therapy for women's reproductive health and various combinations of cupping with other methods. Cupping therapy can have a positive impact on various aspects of female reproductive health, including menstrual disorders and infertility. Studies have shown improvements in menstrual cycles, reduction in menstrual pain, and increased fertility rates in women who undergo cupping therapy. In addition, cupping therapy has also shown promise in treating conditions such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and anemia associated with excessive menstrual bleeding.

Abstract

Peripheral neuropathy (PN) is a condition characterized by damage to the peripheral nervous system, resulting in symptoms such as pain, numbness, and weakness in the hands and feet. The most common causes include diabetes, thyroid disorders, vitamin B12 deficiency, alcohol abuse, chemotherapy, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Despite the availability of various treatments, neurological disorders remain a significant therapeutic challenge. The therapeutic effects of acupuncture are attributed to several mechanisms, including stimulation of nerve fibers, restoration of blood flow, release of neurotransmitters and hormones, modulation of the autonomic nervous system, anti-inflammatory effects, and increased neuroplasticity. These mechanisms collectively contribute to the relief of symptoms associated with peripheral neuropathy. Evidence suggests that acupuncture is beneficial in treating peripheral neuropathy. Studies have shown that acupuncture can improve nerve conduction study parameters in sensory and motor nerves, reduce neuropathic pain, and improve overall nerve function. Certain acupuncture points such as ST-36, GB-34, SP-3, SP-8, and BI-56 have been identified as particularly effective in managing symptoms of peripheral neuropathy. Although more rigorous studies are needed to fully characterize the effects of acupuncture on peripheral neuropathy, the available evidence supports its use as a complementary therapy. Standardized acupuncture protocols that combine anatomical correlation with peripheral nerves and traditional approaches to neuropathic pain management appear to be effective. Further studies with larger sample sizes and randomized comparisons to sham acupuncture will help establish acupuncture as a guideline for treating peripheral neuropathy. This review outlines the potential of acupuncture as a complementary therapy in the management of peripheral neuropathy.

Abstract

ABSTRACT  Honey is one of nature’s wonders. Allah Almighty has mentioned in the Holy Quran in Chapter 16 verse 68, ‘… There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colour, in which there is healing for people.’ The value of honey is mentioned in several hadiths, too. Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment."  Jabir bin Abdullah reported: I heard the Prophet (PBUH) saying, "If there is any healing in your medicines, then it is in cupping, a gulp of honey, or branding with fire (cauterization) that suits the ailment, but I don't like to be (cauterized) branded with fire." Honey is produced in most of the countries in the world. It has been used as a vital medicine in Unani, Ayurveda, and traditional medicines for centuries. It has been proven that even though honey is sweet, if taken in the right dosage as medicine, it does not harm diabetic patients. Honey has various properties, like anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and many others. It can be consumed as a multivitamin as well as a source of energy. It has been proven to be effective in various gynaecological problems like dysmenorrhoea, leucorrhoea, menorrhagia, abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility in both genders, and other ailments. It also strengthens the ovaries and uterus. Hence, honey is an effective prophetic as well as scientifically proven medicine.

Abstract

ABSTRACT  Indonesia Indonesia ranks second globally at 40.8% in gastrointestinal incidence in Asia, following India at 43%. (Farishal et al, 2018). The fig (Ficus Carica L) is a fruit that originated from West Asia and is very well known in the Islamic world, because it is mentioned in the word of God in surah At-tin 95 in the Quran. Research used ethanol and ethyl acetate solvents showed that figs contains many secondary metabolites, including flavonoids which have been used for centuries in traditional medicine for their health-promoting effects addressing gastrointestinal. Flavonoids have been pharmacological effects in the digestive tract, acting as antisecretory agents, cytoprotective agents, and antioxidants. The antioxidant properties of phenolic compounds have been extensively studied, but it has become clear that their mechanisms of action go beyond the modulation of oxidative stress.  Flavonoid compounds have also been reported to play a beneficial role in gastric ulcers, as flavonoids are believed to stimulate the formation of PGE 2. All parts of the fig tree can be used as herbal medicine and have been proven to be effective in treating various problems. Figs (Ficus Carica L) can be consumed by humans both fresh and dried. Ripe figs have thick skin, the flesh of the small seeds is sweet and soft and crispy when cooked and chewed. This article review aims to know the interpretative views on Surah At-Tin that can be applied to gastrointestinal diseases.

Abstract

At this time, there are several parties who perform ruqyah not in accordance with Islamic teachings, called ruqyah syirkiyyah. Many people cannot yet differentiate between ruqyah syar'iyyah and ruqyah syirkiyyah. Such incidents occurred before the time of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), during the era of ignorant Arabs. Then, ruqyah was transformed into ruqyah syar'iyyah during the time of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Ruqyah syirkiyyah is different from ruqyah syar'iyyah which was recommended by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Ruqyah syar'iyyah uses Quranic verses for treating various diseases, while syirkiyyah ruqyah uses ancestral mantras without clear origins. Moreover, the laws governing the two are different: ruqyah syar'iyyah is permissible, whereas ruqyah syirkiyyah is forbidden. In practice, ruqyah syar'iyyah can be performed independently by reciting Quranic verses and with assistance from people if needed
