Jurnal Komunikasi Islam is the flagship journal, published biannually in June and December, of Islamic Communication and Broadcast Department, Dakwah and Communication Faculty, Islamic State University of Sunan Ampel (UINSA) Surabaya in collaboration with Indonesian Professional Dakwah Association (APDI). Jurnal Komunikasi Islam provides academic articles to the professional needs of both Islamic communication scholars and practitioners. The journal helps encourage in disseminating empirical and theoretical research findings, developing theory, and introducing new concepts related to Islamic oration and sermon, Islamic Journalism, mediated-dakwah and religious film, Islamic communication-related studies to its readership.

Dakwah bil hikmah mempakan salah satu metode dakwah yang tepat untuk diterapkan kepada obyek dakwah (mad'u) yang khusus seperti Pekerja Sex Komersial (PSK). Karena metode bil hikmah diterapkan dengan mempertimbangkan situasi dan kondisi obyek dakwah termasuk juga pendekatan dakwah yang di pilih. Faktor yang hams dipertimbangkan oleh da'i adalah meliputi faktor; pengetahuan, sosiologi dan mental, pekerjaan dan situasi yang melingkupinya yang menjadi kebutuhan dan keinginannya. Seorang da'i dalam menghadapi para PSK hams memahami situasi dan kondisi mereka sehingga dakwah yang dilaksanakan dapat mencapai hasil yang maksimal, yaitu mengentas dan menyadarkan mereka (PSK) untuk beralih pada kehidupan yang normal. Sedangkan model penerapan dalwah bil hikmah yaitu dengan rnernposisikan mereka (PSK) sebagai layaknya manusia normal adalah sangat tepat dalam menunjang keberhasilan dakwah dan Pendekatan dakwah yang dapat dipertimbangkan untuk dipilih sebagai pendekatan dakwah terhadap PSK adalah dengan pembinaan mental spiritual dan pemberian ketrampilan sesuai dengan keinginan dan potensi mereka.

This research attempted to explain the Friday sermon by analyzing the structure of its discourse, the selection and composing of its topics, the functions of its codes and code-switching, the function of its speech acts, and the characteristics of its language and specific terms. By using descriptive and qualitative, this study found that the Friday sermon contained oral discourse which has a regular and specific structure. The strategies of the composition of the topics consisted of quotation, storytelling, usage of popular expressions. Whilst the forms of the codes and code-switching involve Arabic, Indonesian, local languages [Javanese], and English languages. In addition, the utterances of the sermon contain all forms of speech acts and various terms appeared in the sermons indicating that the Friday sermon functions as a register or usage of language in a particular field.

This article examines the presence of cyber-religion, the worldwide increasing use of the Internet for religious purposes, in which religion is migrating online as its strategies of adaptation and shaping a new environment. It aims to look at the phenomenon of religious migration to virtual world and its possible implications for secularization thesis. The article argues that the massive emergence of online religion serves a (another) counterpoint to the prediction of the end of religion in modern society as proposed by the proponents of secularization theory. It also claims that religious use of the Internet among religion surfers has no significant impacts on the real world organized religions and their religious communal identity.

This paper discusses the results of research empirically on dakwah communication of the group of Wahdah Islamiyah in South Sulawesi. There are two focus were discussed, namely; the communication strategy and communication networks of dakwah. The results indicate that; (1) The communication strategy was developed by strengthening the competency of preachers in terms of formulating material of dakwah, communication skills and strengthening the quality of their personality. The dakwah messages that formulated related to the problems facing the peoples, and the earnest efforts conducted to do not happen social cultural inequalities between the preachers with the people by sending the preachers whom coming from the communities which have the same social cultural background; (2) The communication network of dakwah on the macro level developed by collaborating with the institutions of Government and the non-formal institutions in the countries of the Middle East, so the dakwah movement supported morally and materially; (3) the communications network at the micro level developed by Wahdah Islamiyah with emphasis on strength of personal communication network through the program “one cadre get one cadre (sks)”

The news balance is the key factor in the implementation of the Peace Journalism. This term became popular discourse to be applied in the writing of news media and a concept that was born out of the reality of the news circuit that generates a negative effect on media audiences. On the other hand, the news media tends to drift to war journalism (war journalism) that the message is more provocative “stirred” niche audiences heart. The provocative character of the news media is of course intended as well as the business area of media propaganda. Media can be likened to a double-edged knife that had the same sharpness in their respective functions. Media in reporting tends to fall asleep with a frame and forget about aspects of media business news politeness as the balance of news that can give peace to the audience. In this case, the concept of Islam in the news is to be consistent with the concept of reason and benefit of the people. The views, solicitation, or radical movements in the name of Islam is increasingly widespread. In various forms, the radicalism in the name of religion prompted an act of suicide bomb wrapped in jihad, hate speech over others, and disseminating views on religion despite the obligation to fight it through violence. Religious radicalism can only be combated using anti religious radicalism, which is now constantly made parties. This article analyzes the importance of planning communication strategy in order solicitation dissemination, understanding, a nd views on the importance of action away from radical religious order solicitation dissemination, understanding and views in the form of information campaigns that get the desired results.

Therapeutic communication is a mutual interaction between nurses and patients in the communication process that aims to solve the problems facing the patients. This article explores the therapeutic communication from the Islamic perspective. Therapeutic communication will be more meaningful when a nurse interacts directly with the patient, especially through strengthening of the spiritual elements that will be a positive suggestion for recovery. In this case, the nurse made himself or herself therapeutic through the optimal use of various communication techniques with the aim of leading the patient’s behavior toward a positive direction through strengthening the religious values.

The purposes of this study are: 1) To examine the influence of self confidence to the nervousness in public speaking, and 2) To examine the difference of nervousness in public speaking between the activists of student organization and those who were not. The population of this study was the students of Da’wah and Communication Faculty of Walisongo State Islamic University Semarang. Sampling was done by using stratified sampling technique. The instrument of data collection used in this study was the scale of nervousness in public speaking and the scale of self confidence. The data were analyzed by using simple regression analysis and test t. the conclusion of this study were: 1) There was the influence of self confidence to the nervousness in public speaking. 2) There was the difference of nervousness in public speaking between the activists of student organization and those who were not.

Komunikasi menurut Webster’s New Collegiate Dictionary (1977) adalah suatu proses pertukaran informasi di antara individu melalui sistim lambang-lambang, tanda-tanda atau tingkah laku. Dalam bahasa Arab, komunikasi sering menggunakan istilah tawashul dan ittishal yang merujuk pada kata dasar “washala”. Dimaknai sebagai proses yang dilakukan dua pihak untuk saling bertukar informasi sehingga pesan yang disampaikan dapat dipahami atau sampai kepada kedua belah pihak yang berkomunikasi. Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (2008) mengartikan komunikasi sebagai pengiriman dan penerimaan pesan atau berita antara dua orang atau lebih sehingga pesan yang dimaksud dapat dipahami.
