Abstract

Acute appendicitis is a surgical emergency that is often found in children with higher perforation rates at a younger age. Several examinations have been put forward as predictors of the incidence of appendix perforation. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of sodium and leukocytes as predictors of perforated appendicitis in children at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil, Padang.  This type of research is analytical with a cross-sectional study design. The study was conducted from August to October 2022 at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. The sample was taken by consecutive sampling with criteria aged 0-18 years and diagnosed with acute appendicitis at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil. In this study, a sample of 112 people with perforation occurred in 67 samples (60%). In the perforation group, most patients (55%) aged 6-11 years were male (67%), had hyponatremia laboratory results (91%) and leukocytosis laboratory results (86.5%) and underwent laparotomy procedures (57.2%). From the SPSS results, a significant difference was obtained between the incidence of hyponatremia in perforated and non-perforated appendicitis with a p-value of <0.001. The limit of the predictive value of sodium is ?134.5 mmol / L. Leukocytes were also found to be associated with perforated appendicitis with a p-value of <0.001 The limit of the predictive value of leukocytes is ? 14,025 cells / mm3.  There was a significant association between sodium and leukocyte levels and perforation incidence with predictive value limits of ?134.5 mmol/L and ? 14,025 cells/mm3, respectively.

Abstract

The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Food and Nutrition (SEAMEO RECFON), already has a pretty good system, but there are some problems and the need for up-to-date information on food and nutrition topics and service facilities that support all activities. To support the process of monitoring and evaluating program achievement targets. SEAMEO RECFON requires a database system not only for operations but also for monitoring and evaluation needs. The system must be able to store and manage data on the results of achievements from program activities, document the results of analysis and other information. In this study, an Integrated Database System has been designed and implemented to achieve the achievement of training programs in the field of food and nutrition, using the System Development Life Cycles (SDLC) method with a prototyping development model that helps in system development. This system can store and collect various types of achievements along with related information such as student data, teacher data, school data, types of training, research programs, and other detailed information that supports the research process. The system also provides a feature for users to be able to report and submit data on participants and guidance schools and new colleagues. The system is implemented in prototype form and tested against functionality, performance, and security. The results expected by the Integrated Database system can help the operations of the Organizational Staff both for operations and an integrated data collection process and facilitate the process of monitoring and evaluating program achievement targets.

Abstract

The incidence of breast cancer in Indonesia is the highest among other cancers in women, with an estimated prevalence of fatigue between 25-99%. The current study is a 6-week mixed methods action study on fatigue in breast cancer patients. This study aimed to develop a self-management intervention program to reduce empowerment-based fatigue with telenursing strategies and to seek evidence of its effect on fatigue levels, self-esteem, body image, and quality of life. The first stage describes the problem with a qualitative method by exploring the fatigue problem in the survivor's perception. The second stage is the intervention development stage, and the third stage is testing the effectiveness of the intervention, carried out in a quasi-experimental study with a pre-posttest control group design. The first stage produces five themes, and the second stage produces nursing interventions based on transitional nursing theory and telenursing strategies. The third stage of the study proved that the fatigue management intervention (IPK) effectively reduced fatigue levels, increased self-esteem and body image, and improved the quality of life in breast cancer patients. This study recommends oncology nurses consider empowering survivors using this intervention so that the transition period for breast cancer survivors achieves healthy physical and psychological health, achieving optimal health after a cancer diagnosis.

Abstract

Kersen leaf is a tree native to Southern America and Southern Mexico. In Indonesia, this tree is very easy to get because it grows a lot on the side of the streets. Empirically, Kersen leaves have been widely used by the public as one of the herbs or herbs to overcome various diseases, including DM disease. The study used True Experimental design with Pre and post Control Design design. The purpose of this study  was to test the effect of using Kersen Leaf Tea on Hepar and Kidney function. Hepar function will be measured by assessing levels of Alanain Transminerase (ALT) Aspartate aminotransferases (AST). For kidney function is assessed by measuring Creatinine and Ureum levels. The results of  the Shapiro test  normality test obtained data that were not normally distributed so that the Bivariate test used alternative tests, namely  the Kruscal Walis test and the Wilcoxon Test. The results of the study on the administration of kersen leaf tea there were differences between the Control group with the dose group of 2%, dose 4% and dose 6% at ALT levels (p = 0.000), AST levels (p = 0.005), and creatinine levels (p = 0.007) but there was no difference in Urium (P = 0.447). The results of the Wilcoxon test showed the effect of giving kersen leaf tea on ALT levels ( p = 0.018), AST levels (p = 0.000), Urium levels (p = 0.37) and creatinine levels (p = 0.038). The administration of kersen leaf tea improves liver and kidney function in Alloxan-induced male mice.
