Abstract

EEFCT OF COFFEE HUSK WASTE PRODUCT TREATED BY SIMPLE PROCESSING SUBSTITUTED WITH PART OF CORN IN RATION ON PERCENTAGE OF BROILER INTERNAL ORGAN. This study was conducted to evaluate the use of coffee husk waste product treated by simple processing substituted with part of corn in ration on percentage of broiler internal organ. Study was applied at Faculty of Animal Science, Sam Ratulangi University during 35 days. Total of 144 day old chick unsexed broilers, strain of CP 707, involving 36 experimental units of battery pens were used in this study. Each unit of pen was filled 4 birds under completely randomized design on factorial patter of 3x4. Factor A was focused on three processing treatments including coffee husk heated under sun light (A1), coffee husk immersed in the water (A2), and coffee husk boiled under water (A3). Factor B was focused on four treatments of substitution levels including ration containing corn without coffee husk substitution (B0), ration  containing corn substituted with 25% coffee husk (B1), ration  containing corn substituted with 50% coffee husk(B2), ration  containing corn substituted with 75% coffee husk (B3). Analysis of variance showed that interaction of processing treatments did not affect significantly on the percentages of lung, heart and gizzard. This study indicated that simple processing of coffee husk were not affected the percentages of broiler internal organ. The substitution levels significantly affected percentage of internal organ. Percentages of lung, heart and gizzard were 1.38-1.86%, 0.31-0.72% and 1.6-2.77%, respectively. This study showed that utilization of coffee husk waste product by above simple processing could substitute part of corn in ration of 25% producing high percentage of broiler internal organ. Keywords: Broiler, Coffee husk by product, broiler internal organ

Abstract

PROFIT ANALYSIS OF PIG FARMING IN WEST TOMOHON DISTRICT TOMOHON CITY. (Case Study On Mr. Okny Mende's Business. The goal of this study was to investigate profit  of pig farming  in West Tomohon  District Survey method was performed on Mr Okny Mende’s farming  in Tara Tara 2 Village West Tomohon District bycase study. The pig farmers’ challenge in the production process was the high cost of production. The increase of cost  production without profit tend to be problem for farmers because input material (production costs) was very important factors in the livestock business. The Pig farming business has the potential for development in the City of Tomohon due to investment in this business does not require large costs and land, besides that the return on capital is relatively faster and although the development of pig agribusiness is limited due to socio-cultural factors, but in North Sulawesi especially Tomohon City has good prospects because of high demand of local market and the surrounding area, and there are no socio-cultural constraints. The pig farm business located in Taratara Dua Sub-District, West Tomohon District is owned by Mr. Okny Mende's family, which is a nursery business by selling weaned piglets. Results of this study  shown that the average total cost incurred per period of production  as much as IDR  38.334.531. While revenue per period of production was IDR. 68.400.000. The profit per production period was IDR. 30.065.469.

Abstract

EVALUATION OF BIOLOGICAL VALUE OF COMPLETE FEED BASED ON CORN COB AND MIXED GRASS ON PRODUCTION PERFORMANCE OF ONGOLE. This study was aimed to obtain the feed formula, which is effective on the productivity of beef cattle (PO). This study consisted of two experimental stages, namely: 1). In vitro experiment, and 2). Biological (in vivo) experiment. t-test two sample assuming unequal variance was used as the statistical analysis on both experiments. The treatments of this research consisted of RA feed = 50% concentrate + 50% corn forage and RB feed = 50% concentrate + 50% mixed grass, and it was repeated 10 times. In vitro test was used to measure dry matter and organic matter digestibility and NH3 concentration (NH3). The biological experiment (in vivo) was used 20 PO cattles, 12-18 months of ages, with 120 - 180 kg of body weight to measure feed intake, nutrients digestibility DMD, OMD, Protein and energy digestibility, live weight gain (LWG) and feed conversion (FCR). The results showed DMD and OMD in vitro of RA were 67.88% dan 66.06%, respectively, lower than the DMD and OMD obtained in RB, i.e 71.15% dan 69.08%, respectively. Meanwhile, NH3 of RA was higher than RB, i.e: 3.20 vs 2.50 mM/L. The biological experiment showed the DMD, OMD, CPD, and DE (in vivo) of RA were 77.05%, 78.64%, 82.13%, and 83.48%, respectively, while the results obtained at RB were higher, i.e. 80.15%, 83.44%, 85.55%, and 87.46%, respectively. On the liveweight gain (LWG) of PO cattle, the RA ration produces 0.60 kg per head per day, lower than RB which produces 0.65 kg per head per day. The FCR of both ration was 0.11. It is concluded, complete feed based on forage corn and mixed grass can be used as standard feed for fattening of local beef cattle because it is able to give high nutrient digestibility and good feed conversion value Keywords: Complete feed, in vitro and in vivo digestibility, liveweight gain, feed conversion

Abstract

INTRODUCTION OF TECHNOLOGY IN SUPPORT FARMING OF DUCK IN PASLATEN VILLAGE DISTRICT OF KAKAS REGENCY OF MINAHASA.The purpose of raising ducks by members of the Kinakas Jaya group was to produce eggs and meat. The eggs produced were around 60-70 percent of the total number of duck members owned by group members. The low production and productivity of ducks causes low income received by group members and not continuous whereas the demand for duck products has increased from year to year. Duck farming in North Sulawesi has a very large development prospect in terms of the population that tends to increase every year. The problem with raising ducks by group members was still traditional and the availability of DOD was not continuous. Based on these problems, empowerment of group members was carried out, namely extension and introduction of hatching machines. The research was conducted with the aim to find out the extent of empowerment activities in supporting duck business in Paslaten Village, Kakas District. The research method used was a survey method. The sample location was Paslaten Village, which was determined by purposive sampling (a village with a group of duck farmers). Respondents were members of the Kinakas Jaya group who were empowered through the introduction of technology. The age of the respondents ranged from 42-50 years with junior high school level (37.5%) and high school 62.5%. Extension was done and responded well by group members. Furthermore, the process of hatching eggs was carried out by group members. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the technology was successfully adopted by group members, but the success rate of hatching eggs was still low. Suggestions submitted need to increase the frequency of counseling and application of technology
