Abstract

This study examines the effect of the addition of Sikacrete-W and Viscocrete-3115N additives on the compressive strength of concrete in waterlogged bore pile casting work. Concrete is an important construction material, but underground casting can lead to washout and segregation, which negatively impacts concrete quality. In this study, variations of Sikacrete-W addition of 3%, 5%, and 10% and 0.6% Viscocrete-3115N were used to improve the cohesion and viscosity of the mixture. The test results showed that the average compressive strength of concrete with the addition of additives was lower than that of normal concrete, with the largest decrease occurring in the 10% Sikacrete-W mixture. Meanwhile, a 5% Sikacrete-W mixture yielded an optimal compressive strength of 31.74 MPa, suggesting that the addition of additives could affect the characteristics of concrete under special conditions.

Abstract

The aging process leads to skin changes such as wrinkles and loss of elasticity, often accelerated by premature aging caused by factors like UV radiation and reactive oxygen species (ROS). Elastase, an enzyme responsible for degrading elastin in the skin’s extracellular matrix, plays a critical role in this process. This study aimed to investigate the anti-elastase potential of koro komak (Lablab purpureus) extract, a plant rich in polyphenolic compounds, through in vitro testing. A quasi-experimental design was employed, using different concentrations of the extract compared to ascorbic acid as a positive control. Phytochemical screening confirmed the presence of flavonoids, phenols, and tannins. The extract exhibited moderate anti-elastase activity with an IC?? value of 128 ?g/mL, and at 200 ?g/mL concentration, it inhibited elastase enzyme activity by 65.90%. These findings suggest that koro komak extract has promising potential as a natural anti-aging agent by protecting skin elasticity through elastase inhibition.

Abstract

Waste has become a serious global issue experienced by almost all regions of the world, including Indonesia. The prevailing stigma in waste management within society has been that the government handles waste from the source, to temporary disposal sites (TPS), and then to final disposal sites (TPA). Waste management is a major challenge often faced by urban communities, including the city of Samarinda. Samarinda has various destination areas with tourism and economic potential that attract the attention of local residents as well as international visitors. One such place is Kampung Ketupat, a tourism village located in Samarinda Seberang District, Mesjid Subdistrict, specifically in the Mangkupalas Road area. This area is officially managed by the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), which reports that some residents still frequently dispose of waste into the river without proper waste disposal management. Kampung Ketupat has great potential to become a sustainable community-based ecotourism area. Strategic steps in distributing information related to independent waste management by involving creative industry players and local communities will not only help reduce environmental impacts but also increase public awareness of the importance of environmental sustainability as a tourism asset. Kampung Ketupat can serve as a model for community-based waste management in line with Samarinda City Regional Regulation Number 5 of 2021 concerning waste management. This activity aims to implement a community-based service model in Kampung Ketupat, Samarinda City, involving Pokdarwis as well as the local government. The activities include training, seminars, public discussions, and community awareness campaigns. Regular evaluations will be conducted to ensure the sustainability and success of this program. It is expected that the residents of Kampung Ketupat, Samarinda City, will be more actively involved in independent waste management and the creative industry as a potential ecotourism industry.

Abstract

Indonesia has a huge potential for solar energy, but its utilization until 2024 only reach 573.8 MWp. The low utilization of solar energy is caused by the limited vacant land for solar power plant installations, especially in urban areas. Rooftop solar power plants are expected to increase the use of solar energy in urban areas. Choosing the right solar panels on rooftop solar is necessary to get the best performing solar panels even though they are placed on limited land. The development of cell arrangement and shape technology in solar panels has resulted in full cell, half-cut cell, and shingled cell solar panels. The weather parameter observed in this study is sunlight radiation. Direct observation was carried out for 4 days at 08.00-16.00 WIB in the Kediri Meteorological Station (BMKG Kediri), with data collection every 5 minutes. The results of the study show that sunlight radiation has a significant influence on the output power of solar panels. The determination coefficient (R2) value of sunlight radiation against solar panels is 0.60 in monocrystalline full cells, 0.65 in monocrystalline half-cut cells, and 0.66 in monocrystalline shingled cells.

Abstract

Marital infidelity has become increasingly prevalent, often leading to the destruction of marriages and families when discovered. However, some individuals successfully conceal their affairs through strategic deception. This qualitative study explores the communication strategies employed by cheating spouses to hide their infidelity. Using a phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with five individuals (three men and two women in their 30s) engaged in long-term extramarital affairs without being caught. Turner's typology of deception—lies, exaggeration, half-truths, secrets, and diversion—served as the conceptual framework. The findings revealed that all informants utilized these deception types to mislead their spouses, with lies being the most common tactic. Half-truths and diversion were also frequently employed to avoid suspicion. The study highlights the manipulative behaviors and psychological dynamics underlying these strategies, suggesting a potential link to narcissistic traits. The research contributes to the understanding of deceptive communication in marital relationships and underscores the need for further studies on protective communication factors to mitigate infidelity's harm.
