Abstract

Aluminum waste from practicum work in the CNC workshop and laboratory of Politeknik Negeri Sriwijaya is quite a lot and is wasted. This can cause pollution to the environment. Therefore, a casting process is carried out to reduce this impact, then the waste will be recycled again. Aluminum waste that has been recycled through the casting process can also become a product for reuse, especially in practical work in CNC workshops or laboratories. This casting is done using the gravity die casting method which uses a permanent mold to make it more efficient. To improve the casted product's quality, experiments are conducted. Three variables are used in this investigation, including melting temperatures of 700°C and 800°C., holding time in the mold: 10 minutes and 15 minutes, and quenching (cooling media: water and 20% brine). The methodology used in this research is Taguchi and Anova, which aims to find the influence and results of high hardness values to improve product quality. The highest hardness value result is with experimental temperature of 800℃, holding time of 10 minutes, and quenching of 20% salt water, which is 59.79 Kg/mm2.

Abstract

The development of today's technology encourages the innovation of Technological developments encourage innovation in slicing chips that are done manually, now developing using machines. The quality of the chips is determined by the taste, crispness, color and shape of the slices. This research aims to test and determine the best knife rotation speed on a chips chopper machine.The rotational speed of the knife is one of the determining factors for producing sliced chips that are in accordance with the wishes of consumers. This test will be carried out by adjusting the blade rotation speed using a dimmer, then slicing the chips according to the treatment. The treatment combination of blade rotation speed was 1303 rpm, 1355 rpm and 1375 rpm and the materials used were cassava, potatoes and bananas. Research data will be analyzed using quantitative methods. Based on research conducted that the highest effective capacity of the machine is at a blade rotation speed of 1375 rpm with cassava material of 26.74 kg/hour, the best yield of enumeration at a blade rotation speed of 1375 rpm with cassava material is 90%. The best percentage of intact slices was found at a blade rotation speed of 1303 rpm with potato material, namely 34%, half whole slices at a blade rotation speed of 1355 rpm with cassava material, namely 30%, and crushed slices at a knife rotation speed of 1375 with cassava material, namely 42%.

Abstract

The universal joint coupling or U-joint is the part of the motor boat that connects the engine to the propeller shaft. The U-joint of a motor boat made of aluminum often suffers damage such as breaking due to loads when operating. The purpose of this research is to improve the quality of this product with the squeeze casting method with the addition of magnesium 3% and 4% and pressure variations of 70, 85 and 100 MPa for casting universal joint coupling products. The casting process is carried out by melting aluminum and mixing it with magnesium and then pressing it using a hydraulic pressure tool. After the casting process is complete, the specimen is trimmed for hardness testing. The results of the hardness test obtained the highest value on the pressure parameter of 100 MPa. For 4% Al-Mg with an emphasis of 100 MPa, the average hardness value was 94.66 BHN. For Al-Mg 3% with an emphasis of 100 MPa, the average value was 90.06 BHN. While the raw material has a hardness value of 57.52. It can be seen that the hardness value has increased from before. It can be concluded that the squeeze casting casting method and the addition of magnesium can affect the hardness value of aluminum.

Abstract

Shifting lever merupakan bagian dari sistem kemudi pada traktor tangan yang menghubungkan shifting rod dengan shifting lever, tuas ini berfungsi sebagai pengendali pengemudi agar bisa melakukan pemindahan gigi transmisi sesuai dengan kondisi mengemudi yang diinginkan. Penghubung pada bagian-bagian shifting lever menerima gerakan naik turun saat kendaraan sedang dijalankan jadi shifting lever mengalami kerusakan akibat menerima gerakan naik turun pada traktor tangan. Dengan metode pengecoran logam squeeze casting dimana logam cair ditekan kedalam rongga cetakan dengan kondisi logam cair yang hampir membeku. dengan pengecoran aluminium daur ulang dengan penambahan komposisi 12,2% 12,6% dan 13,2% dan penekanan 70 MPa serta suhu penuangan 760ËšC. Penelitian ini diharapkan mampu menghasilkan produk pengecoran yang mampu menghasilkan nilai sifat material yang mendekati nilai kekerasan produk shifting lever pada traktor tangan. Pada hasil pengamatan didapat nilai kekerasan rata-rata pada komposisi 12,2% silikon sebesar 102,70 BHN, pada komposisi 12,6% silikon nilai kekerasannya sebesar 107,66 BHN dan pada komposisi 13,2% paduan silikon memiliki nilai kekerasan rata-rata 101,17 BHN yaitu nilai kekerasan yang paling rendah diantara ketiga komposisi tersebut dan nilai kekerasan paling tinggi terdapat pada komposisi silikon 12,6% dengan tingkat kekerasan rata-ratanya sebesar 107,6 BHN.

Abstract

Teknologi 3D Printing membawa perubahan besar pada dunia. Teknologi yang juga dikenal dengan sebutan Additive Layer Manufacturing. Dalam proses pengembangan 3D Printing dilakukan rancang bangun untuk membuat mesin 3D Printing. Keakuratan hasil cetak merupakan keberhasilan dari rancang bangun dalam proses pembuatan mesin 3D Printing. Kecepatan dan Temperatur menjadi hal yang paling berpengaruh dalam proses cetak pada 3D Printing. Dalam hal ini kelompok membuat mesin 3D Printing Core XY. Pembentukan specimen menggunakan data dari pemprograman Computer Aided Desin (CAD) yang telah didesain. Selanjutnya di save dengan data file STL kedalam software Repetier Host untuk menentukan Kecepatan dan Temperatur sehingga mesin dapat dioperasikan sesuai keiinginan dengan menggunakan filamen ABS. Hasil cetak 3D Printing dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA “One Ways”

Abstract

Rear derailleur is one of the components on a bicycle that functions to replace or change gears/speed by moving the bicycle chain from one wheel to another. In use, the rear derailleur requires an additional component to connect the rear derailleur to the bicycle frame, namely the rear derailleur hanger. Where the rear derailleur hanger is made of aluminum. In its application, the rear derailleur hanger often experiences damage caused by shock loading and breaks due to the collisions that occur. With the squzee casting method, the smelted material is put into the mold cavity which is then pressed using a hydraulic tool when the material is almost frozen with variations in the addition of the percentage of elemental magnesium by 2%, 4% and 5% with a pressure statement of 70 MPa and the melting temperature reaches a point of 660̊ C. In the results obtained the average value of the Impact price is at a composition of 2% magnesium by 0.0357 J/mm2, at a composition of 4% by 0.0951 J /mm2, and 6% composition of 0.0594 J/mm2, it can be observed that the highest addition was produced at a percentage addition of 4% and decreased in value at a percentage of 6%. From the results of the study showed an increase in the value of the value of the raw material that is equal to 0.0178 J/mm2.

Abstract

Variations of roller weights of 7 grams, 9 grams and 10 grams applied variation of the CVT spring from the standard, pressure strength 10 – 15%, as well as pressure strength 20% has an impact on fuel consumption. Because more gasoline or fuel is consumed in the combustion chamber on larger engine turns, this phenomenon occurs. Effect of fuel consumption on the use of roller weight variation using CVT spring variation on engine rotation variation. So as a whole the test data from the table as well as from the graphs can be taken that the best fuel consumption or efficiency, then the best choice is a roller of 10 grams using a standard spring at RPM 3000 yielding 11.33 ml/min and in RPM 6000 yields 23.50 ml / min rather than using a pressure spring strength of 10 – 15% and 20% even when the engine turns high at 9000 RPM that is 46.10 ml / minute rarely done using such RPM because of motorcycles used for day – day

Abstract

The wire drawing process is a metal forming process by pulling the wire bar through the dies by a tensile force. The purpose of this process is to reduce the diameter of the wire rod without reducing volume and mass. The material used in this study was AISI 1006. The percentage of reduction is 22.14%, 17.35%, and 14.26%. The microhardness of these wires was tested using Microhardness Vickers Method, the result is 37.6433 HV, 37.7666 HV, and 38.6233 HV respectively. The maximum tensile strength value of the wires is 197.8146 MPa, 111.271 MPa, and 71.005 MPa, while the yield strength is found to be 176.379 MPa, 100.926 MPa, and 64.593 MPa. With a greater percentage of reduction on the wire, the microstructure became elongated, flatter, and much denser.

Abstract

The availability of fuels, especially fossil fuels, is increasingly scarce, concerns about meeting energy needs in the future are increasing. In urban areas, fuel gas (LPG) is generally used for daily cooking, while in rural areas, kerosene is more commonly used. This significant oil content opens up the possibility to use castor beans as fuel directly. Therefore, in this study the author conducted an experiment entitled "The Effect of Jatropha Bean Size on Fire Intensity and Temperature produced on the Stove". The variable used is jatropha beans weighing 350 grams in each form of castor bean roughness, namely: whole, peeled, coarse and fine. Where the results obtained from the research that has been carried out are whole castor beans with a flame for 93 minutes and a temperature of 314.7 °C, peeled to produce a flame for 85 minutes and a temperature of 433.3 °C, coarsely crushed to produce a flame for 73 minutes and a temperature of 498.8 °C, and finely crushed to produce a flame of 65 minutes and a temperature of 519 °C. So it can be concluded from the data produced, the larger the size of the castor bean, the more time the fire is and the finer the roughness of the castor bean fence, the higher the resulting temperature.

Abstract

Peningkatan limbah kulit kopi akan menimbulkan dampak buruk bagi lingkungan jika tidak dikelola dengan baik. Salah satu cara dalam mengurangi limbah kulit kopi yaitu dengan memanfaatkan limbah kulit kopi sebagai bahan campuran dalam pembuatan kampas rem. Pembuatan kampas rem dilakukan dengan variasi komposisi dengan resin epoxy sebagai variable tetap serta kulit kopi dan MgO sebagai variable bebasnya dimana variasinya 40%:20%, 30%:30%, 20%:40%. Kemudian sampel kampas rem dilakukan pengujian keausan, koefisien gesek dan konduktivitas termal. Dari pengujian tersebut didapatkan hasil terbaik pada keausan kering dan basah pada variasi komposisi kulit kopi 20% dengan nilai 6,615 x 10-4 mm2/kg.m.dan 4,760 x 10-4 mm2/kg.m, pada pengujian koefosoen gesek dan konduktivitas termal mendapatkan nilai terbaik pada komposisi kulit kopi 40% dengan nilai 0,58666667 dan 0,1569145 𝑊/𝑚.ᵒK.
