Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent and debilitating chronic condition that primarily affects the articular cartilage, leading to pain, stiffness, and loss of function. Despite significant advancements in understanding its pathophysiology, an effective cure remains elusive. This paper explores the integrative regeneration of articular cartilage using mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) combined with gene therapy as a precision medicine approach. MSCs are particularly promising due to their chondrogenic potential and ability to repair damaged cartilage. However, the inflammatory environment in OA often limits the survival of MSCs. Gene therapy emerges as a solution to modulate this environment, enhancing the regenerative capacity of MSCs. This study highlights the synergy between MSC therapy and gene therapy in promoting cartilage repair, focusing on the Vinski protocol. By targeting the joint's microenvironment and using MSCs in combination with gene therapy, this integrated approach aims to provide a more effective treatment for OA. The application of gene therapy is expected to not only sustain MSC survival but also improve their therapeutic effects, making this method a promising avenue for OA treatment.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of project-based short video making for Instagram Reels on the multimodal English production of EFL learners. Using a qualitative multiple case study approach, the research investigates learners’ collaborative processes, multimodal decision-making, and digital identity development. The findings show that integrating short-form digital storytelling in a project-based learning framework offers opportunities for authentic language use, creative expression, and multimodal composition. The project required active use of English, especially during scripting, rehearsing, and filming. Learners crafted messages for real or imagined audiences, improving fluency, confidence, and pragmatic awareness. They also enhanced their understanding of multimodal communication, combining verbal, visual, auditory, and gestural resources to convey meaning. Effective communication was seen as dependent not just on linguistic accuracy but on the orchestration of various semiotic modes. Additionally, the project fostered a sense of digital authorship, motivating learners to engage in modern online communication practices. This shift in identity increased motivation, engagement, and ownership, demonstrating the potential of social media–based learning tasks. The study highlights the effectiveness of Instagram Reels as an instructional tool in EFL classrooms, connecting language learning with digital practices while enhancing multimodal and digital literacies. Despite its limited scope, the study emphasizes the value of incorporating authentic, creativity-driven tasks into language education.

Abstract

This study explores revitalisation and tradition-based innovation as strategic approaches to achieving cultural sustainability through film media. In the era of globalization and rapid technological progress, local cultural values face challenges in maintaining relevance, particularly among younger generations. Revitalisation refers to the process of restoring traditional meanings and values, while innovation introduces new ways of expressing them within modern contexts. Film serves as a powerful medium to revive traditions through emotionally engaging and visually creative narratives that bridge the past and present. Using SWOT analysis and a strategic framework, the study highlights the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration, digital cultural archives, and ethical representation in film production. Drawing from cultural studies and visual anthropology, it concludes that cultural sustainability can be achieved when traditional values are revitalised through creative innovation that resonates with contemporary audiences.

Abstract

The rapid population growth and increasing demand for residential areas in Dili City, Timor-Leste, have led to the emergence of slum settlements, particularly in the Tasitolu area, which faces environmental, social, and economic pressures. This study aims to analyze the slum conditions in Tasitolu and formulate strategies for a slum-free Dili City using a sustainability-based approach. A mixed-methods approach was employed, collecting primary data through field surveys and interviews, and secondary data from planning documents and statistical reports. The analysis used seven indicators from the Kota Tanpa Kumuh (KOTAKU) model: building conditions, roads, water access, drainage, wastewater management, solid waste management, and fire protection. These indicators were grouped into social, economic, and environmental sustainability aspects. Results showed critical issues in the environmental and economic aspects, with relatively better conditions in the social aspect. Development strategies include in-situ upgrading, limited relocation, strengthening local economic activities, and enhancing government capacity in spatial planning and control. A phased roadmap of short-, medium-, and long-term actions is proposed to achieve a sustainable, slum-free Dili City.

Abstract

The era of multipolarity, characterized by competition among the United States, China, Russia, and the European Union, has intensified global security dynamics. This competition spans military, technological, and energy domains, making the stability of Indonesia’s airspace increasingly critical. In response, Indonesia has modernized its air power as a deterrence strategy to address both conventional and non-conventional threats. This study analyzes how Indonesia’s defense policies in the era of multipolarity shape the modernization of the Indonesian Air Force’s (TNI AU) weapon systems from 2015 to 2025. Using a qualitative approach with a case study design, the research includes document analysis, policy review, and air defense strategic assessment. The findings show that the modernization efforts are a strategic response to multipolar dynamics, particularly the increasing use of air power in the region, tensions in the South China Sea, and emerging threats like cyber intrusions, foreign UAVs, and hybrid warfare. The study reveals that modernization is driven by operational needs, global political dynamics, and Indonesia’s defense industry capacity. Key measures include the procurement of advanced fighter aircraft, the enhancement of radar networks, the integration of command and control systems, and the development of cyber capabilities. In conclusion, the modernization of TNI AU’s weapon systems strengthens deterrence, maintains regional stability, and enhances the ability to respond to multidimensional threats in the era of multipolarity.

Abstract

This conceptual study explores the ontological and epistemological transformation of music as the recording industry shifts from physical formats (atom) to digital streaming platforms (bit). Ontologically, music is no longer a tangible object but exists as infinite, immaterial data streams governed by algorithmic circulation. Epistemologically, knowledge about music, its value, popularity, and legitimacy, is increasingly constructed through datafication and platform-driven metrics. These dual transformations reshape the role of record labels: from centralized distributors of physical goods to curators and data analysts within a platformized ecosystem. Drawing on global trends with contextual insights from Indonesia, this research highlights how the convergence of digital ontology and computational epistemology alters not only the nature of music but also the institutional logic of its production and dissemination.

Abstract

Soil degradation is a major problem that threatens the resilience of agricultural production due to the decline in the soil's ability to support sustainable plant growth. This study aims to examine soil degradation and its challenges to agricultural production resilience from the perspective of soil characteristics. The method used is literature review with a narrative review approach to previous research scientific articles. The literature analyzed is publications from the last ten years relevant to soil degradation, soil physical and chemical properties, and agricultural productivity. The results of the study show that the degradation of soil physical properties, such as compaction, structural damage, and erosion, as well as the degradation of soil chemical properties, especially the decline of organic matter and nutrient imbalances, have a significant effect on the decline and instability of agricultural production. The literature synthesis confirms that soil degradation is a strategic challenge in maintaining the long-term resilience of agricultural production. Therefore, a soil quality-based approach is needed to support the sustainability of agricultural systems.

Abstract

The rapid transformation of digital content consumption toward short-form and vertical video formats has given rise to vertical micro-dramas as a distinct entertainment ecosystem with unique monetization challenges. While prior studies have examined value co-creation and monetization strategies separately, limited attention has been paid to how these two dimensions interact to sustain revenue in highly volatile, attention-driven environments. This study adopts a theoretical research design using a conceptual model development approach based on a systematic synthesis of international and national scholarly literature. Through thematic and comparative analysis, the study identifies key dimensions of value co-creation—engagement, community participation, data-driven feedback, and institutional collaboration—and maps their interaction with diverse paywall innovations, including microtransactions, hybrid advertising models, subscriptions, and access-based partnerships. The findings demonstrate that monetization resilience in vertical micro-drama ecosystems emerges from the dynamic alignment between participatory value creation and adaptive paywall design, rather than from isolated revenue mechanisms. The study contributes a conceptual framework that explains how co-creation processes, when integrated with flexible monetization architectures and contextualized by local market conditions, enable platforms to achieve sustainable revenue under conditions of rapid technological and behavioral change.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of CSR on tax avoidance and the moderating effect of political connections on the relationship between CSR and tax avoidance. The research was conducted on energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The sample used comprised energy sector companies for the 2023–2024 period, totaling 66 observations. Data were collected through documentation techniques from annual reports and sustainability reports published on the Indonesia Stock Exchange website and company websites. The method used was Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with classical assumption tests, including normality, multicollinearity, autocorrelation, and heteroscedasticity tests. The results indicated that CSR has a significant positive effect on tax avoidance, suggesting that higher CSR disclosure is associated with lower tax avoidance practices. Political connections have a significant positive effect on tax avoidance, indicating that politically connected firms tend to engage in more aggressive tax strategies. Finally, political connections weaken the relationship between CSR and tax avoidance, demonstrating that political ties reduce the effectiveness of CSR in mitigating tax avoidance behavior. These findings contribute to the literature on corporate ethics, tax planning strategies, and the role of political economy in emerging markets

Abstract

Blood cancers are among the most complex and emotionally challenging diseases, affecting millions worldwide. As scientific progress conventionally focused on cellular alteration, the modern conception of blood cancer increasingly puts into perspective the need for a combination of biological mechanisms with patient-centered perspectives. This paper discusses the trend from a strictly molecular-based perception of leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma to one that is holistic and humanized, integrating clinical biomarkers, socio-behavioral factors, and personalized decision-making in therapy. Recent advances in genomics, immune profiling, and artificial intelligence have now given clinicians the ability to decode disease patterns with unprecedented lucidity; however, these technologies realize their impact only when coupled with patient experiences, values, and narratives.This review, narrative-descriptive in nature and supported by epidemiological and clinical evidence, explores how liquid biopsy, CAR-T cell therapy, minimal residual disease monitoring, and machine-learning prediction models are reshaping care pathways. The paper also reviews emotional and psychosocial concerns shared by patients at diagnosis, during active treatment, and throughout survivorship, underscoring the importance of empathetic communication, shared decision-making, and culturally adaptable counseling. This paper argues that truly transformative blood cancer care must treat not only malignant cells but also the stories, fears, and hopes of those living with the disease by bridging the gap between advanced biomedical science and human experience.
