Abstract

The listening skills of third-grade students at Primary School II Latihan SPG Ambon were initially suboptimal. This study aims to enhance these skills through the storytelling method. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, the study was conducted over two cycles involving 28 students (15 boys and 13 girls). Data collection techniques included observation, tests, and interviews to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of student progress. The findings demonstrate a consistent and significant improvement across all research phases. The classical mean score rose from 62.42 in the pre-test to 67.85 in Cycle I, ultimately reaching 77.42 in Cycle II. More impressively, the student completion rate increased dramatically from 23.8% in the pre-test to 100% by the end of the second cycle, surpassing the established success indicators. Analytical results highlight that the most substantial growth occurred in the character understanding dimension, which saw a 50.7% increase, driven by the teacher's expressive delivery and narrative gestures. The study concludes that the storytelling method is highly effective in creating an engaging, imaginative, and meaningful learning environment. Consequently, it is recommended as an innovative, student-centered instructional approach to improve listening comprehension and literacy foundations in lower primary school grades.

Abstract

The low effectiveness of conventional learning models in improving students' in-depth understanding and learning outcomes in the digestive system often results in suboptimal learning outcomes. This study aims to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with a deep learning approach on student learning outcomes in the digestive system. The method used was a quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The study population included six classes with samples consisting of two classes: Class XI C as the experimental class (PBL model with a deep learning approach) and Class XI D as the control class (direct instruction method) at High School 1 Batang Kuis. The research instruments included essay tests and student response questionnaires. Results: The findings showed an increase in the average score in the experimental class from 47.1 to 87.5 (an increase of 85.7%), higher than the control class which increased from 46.7 to 81.2 (an increase of 73.8%). The learning completion rate in the experimental class reached 34 students, surpassing the control class which consisted of 27 students. Student responses to the deep learning approach were categorized as very positive, supported by indicators of mindful learning (82%), meaningful learning (72%), and joyful learning (89%). The hypothesis test showed a significant value of 3.649 x 10-5 (<0.05), confirming a significant effect. Practically, this study proves that the integration of PBL and the deep learning approach is an effective strategy for improving learning outcomes and creating meaningful learning experiences for students in complex biology material.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of student learning independence in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at High School 13 Bandar Lampung, where the self-consistency indicator only reached 19%. This phenomenon indicates the need for innovative learning models that can foster students' self-confidence and responsibility for learning. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Think Pair Share (TPS) Cooperative Learning model in improving learning independence, especially in the aspect of student self-consistency. This type of research is a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample was selected using a simple random sampling technique consisting of an experimental class (TPS model) and a control class (conventional method). Data was analyzed using the Independent Samples T-Test after fulfilling the prerequisite tests of Shapiro-Wilk normality (Sig. X = 0.154; Y = 0.173) and Levene's homogeneity (Sig. 0.330). The research findings show that the TPS model has a highly significant partial effect on the dependent variable with a t-value of 57.326 and a significance of 0.000. The mechanism of individual thinking, pair discussions, and sharing results has proven effective in building self-confidence, courage to express opinions, and student responsibility. Theoretically, this study provides novelty in the application of the TPS model in the context of Islamic Religious Education at the high school level, especially in proving that academic procrastination behavior is a reliable predictor of students' levels of self-efficacy and independence. Practically, this study recommends the use of the TPS model to strengthen character and create a participatory classroom atmosphere.

Abstract

This research is driven by the urgent need to explore Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning resources rooted in local wisdom, specifically focusing on the integrative acculturation within the Ngejalang tradition of the Lampung Saibatin community in Pekon Gunung Kemala Timur. Amidst modernization, this tradition persists as a vital cultural identity containing significant educational content, yet it faces the risk of shifting meanings if not formally reconstructed as scientific learning material. Consequently, this study aims to analyze the fundamental values of faith, sharia, and morals within the Ngejalang tradition to position it as a contextual PAI resource. Employing a descriptive qualitative method with an ethnopedagogical approach, primary data was gathered through participant observation and in-depth interviews, utilizing interactive analysis to examine Ngejalang as 'urf sahih’ (sound custom). The findings reveal that Ngejalang represents a unique manifestation of acculturation that transforms pilgrimage rituals into instruments for strengthening the pillars of Islam. Faith is internalized through the concept of tauhid via tadzkiratul maut (remembrance of death), while sharia values are implemented through the principle of al-'aadatu muhakkamah, where Islamic law serves as an active filter for ritual processes. Furthermore, moral values are reflected in a "character laboratory" that fosters ta'dzim (respect), generosity, and social cohesion. Ultimately, this study confirms that the Ngejalang tradition holds strong relevance as an ethnopedagogical PAI source, successfully integrating cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains to internalize divine values and religious character while maintaining the absolute purity of monotheism.
