Abstract

There are various ways to measure service quality, including the ServQual Model and the LibQual Model. This study aims to determine the service quality measurement model that is more suitable for the Balai Layanan Perpustakaan DPAD DIY. This study uses a comparative descriptive approach by comparing two research objects, namely the ServQual Model and the LibQual Model. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be seen that there are differences between the ServQual Model and the LibQual Model. All dimensions in the ServQual Model have been covered by the LibQual Model. In addition, the Libqual Model also has dimensions of Library as Place, Personal Control, and Information Access. The difference in dimensions causes differences in measurement indicators in the ServQual Model and the LibQual Model. In addition, there are differences in the results of measuring service quality using the PANRB Regulation No. 14/2017 Model with the LibQual Model. This study is able to contribute as a consideration for the Balai Layanan Perpustakaan DPAD DIY in choosing service quality measurement tools, as an aid in policy formulation and service development, and advancing library science through the provision of study materials.

Abstract

The transformation of conventional libraries into digital libraries has resulted in many significant changes, especially in the generation of digital natives to access information. This research aims to analyze the role of digital libraries in supporting the learning process of the digital natives generation, which refers to the Garuda database-indexed literature review. This research uses a narrative literature review method by analyzing various references to find new knowledge. The number of references analyzed in this study amounted to 15 references out of a total of 30 references taken from the Garuda database with a range of years from 2015 to 2024. Researchers used the Garuda database because it has the advantage of easy access to articles and many articles from Indonesia are of high quality and free. The results and discussion show that digital libraries have an important role in supporting the learning process of the digital natives generation. First, digital libraries play a role in providing digital literacy education for digital natives so that the search for information needed is relevant, valid, and can be utilized properly. Second, digital libraries play a role in providing complete, quality, and easily accessible online collections anytime and anywhere. Third, digital libraries play a role in providing responsive services to digital natives such as email, Instagram, and website services. In carrying out this role, librarians who understand digital libraries and can meet the information needs of digital natives are needed.

Abstract

This research aims to develop the library collection according to the needs of the community to empower the community in information management. This research uses the Participatory Action Research method, which involves four research stages to identify the information needs of the village community. The stages are 1) Planning, 2) Action, 3) Observation, 4) Reflection. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation, and literature review. The research results show that at the planning stage, the people of Kadujaya village want an information centre in the form of a village library. Based on the discussion results, the researchers conducted an information mapping to determine the types of collections needed. The action stage was then carried out by procuring library collections through purchases and submitting proposals to relevant institutions, such as the National Library, BRIN, Taman Baca Arcamanik, and individuals. At the observation and reflection stage, the researchers found that the collection of the Kadujaya village library needs further development to ensure the diversity of information accessible to the community. The results of this study indicate that the development of the village library collection must be adjusted to the dynamics and evolving information needs of the community.

Abstract

After the COVID-19 pandemic, students' behavior and habits in lectures have changed, which has an impact on visits to the library. This research aims to identify areas of improvement in library services as user behavior changes, so that libraries remain relevant and maximal in improving academic quality in universities. A quantitative approach is used with data collection through questionnaires. The questionnaire consisted of demographic data of respondents, the behavior of new students' visits to the library, their orientation and motivation for visiting, and expectations for the library's contribution in supporting the success of the study. The instruments are structured based on the theory of Uses and Gratifications. The results of the study showed that there was a shift in the orientation of library visitors, although it was not too significant. Conventional services such as borrowing and returning books and user guidance tend to decline. Meanwhile, the need for new services that are recreative in nature is increasing. Overall, the study concludes that the majority of students expect libraries to be comfortable places to study, read, and rest.

Abstract

The emergence of Society 5.0 demands that libraries innovate in their promotional strategies to adapt to digital transformation and shifting user behaviors. This study aims to identify the promotional strategies employed by libraries and the challenges encountered in their implementation. Utilizing a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, this research analyzed 12 peer-reviewed articles published between 2017 and 2023, sourced from the ProQuest database. The findings reveal that libraries have adopted a variety of promotional techniques, including the use of social media, library exhibitions, promotional products (such as websites and email services), and special programs or events like user orientations and seminars. Among these, social media platforms—particularly Facebook, WhatsApp, and YouTube—are the most frequently utilized tools. However, several challenges persist, including inadequate infrastructure, the absence of institutional regulations, limited budget allocations, and insufficient technical competencies among librarians in managing digital promotion tools. This study concludes that while libraries have made considerable efforts to adapt promotional strategies in the digital era, institutional support and capacity-building initiatives for librarians are crucial to enhancing the effectiveness and sustainability of library marketing practices.
