Abstract

This research aims to evaluate ammoniated corn straw's nutritional content and determine the best urea dose. Corn straw is one of the alternative feed sources from waste in the livestock industry. They contain crude 6.38%protein, 30.19%crude fibre, 2.81%crude fat, 51.69% EMWN, 8.94%ash, 53.12%TDN, 22.5% hemicellulose, 10.6% lignin, and 32.9% cellulose. However, the nutritional quality of corn straw can be affected by various factors, such as the high lignin content. It can bind to cellulose and hemicellulose, reducing digestibility and utilization as animal feed, so it needs to be processed first, one of which is ammoniation technology using urea. This research used 500 grams of corn straw and urea for the ammoniation process based on dry matter (DM) of corn straw for urea doses. The research designed by a complete randomized design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 4 replications, namely T1= only corn straw (control), T2= corn straw with 2% urea, T3= corn straw with 4% urea and T4= corn straw with 6% urea. The variables measured were crude fiber, crude fat,, and TDN. The results showed that urea used in the ammoniation process of corn straw showed a significant effect (P<0.05) on increasing the content of crude fiber, crude fat,, and TDN. Urea can stretch the bonds between ligncellulose, It was concluded that the best urea dose is at 6%, with 25.91% crude fibre, 2.65% crude fat, and 60.91% TDN respectively.

Abstract

Oil is one of the most popular media for the ozonation process compared to other media such as water or saline methods or direct exposure to blood. Ozonated oil has an advantage over other ozone therapy methods because ozonated oil has an antiseptic activity that is several hundred times higher than ozonated saline. Sumbawa oil is one of the local wisdom products of the Sumbawa tribal community, which is generally used as medicine or massage therapy to heal injuries such as broken bones, tendonitis, bruises, back pain and treatment of various skin wounds. An ozonation process can be carried out to increase the ability of Sumbawa oil to regenerate skin and repair tissue. Ozonation uses a Double Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DDBD) plasma reactor. The DDBD Plasma Reactor is a reactor that can produce ozone gas with very high purity. Pure ozone gas is very well applied in the medical world. This research aims to increase the peroxide levels in Sumbawa oil by ozonation using a Double Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DDBD) Plasma reactor. The flow rates used were 0.1 L/minute, 0.4 L/minute and 0.7 L/minute for 1 hour, 3 hours and 5 hours. The results showed that the peroxide value increased with increasing oxygen flow rate and ozonation time. The highest peroxide value was obtained at a flow rate of 0.7 L/minute for 5 hours, namely 332.03 mg Eq/kg Sumbawa oil. Increased by 282.71 mg Eq/kg; the peroxide figure for Sumbawa oil without ozonation was 49.32 mg Eq/kg.

Abstract

Several sub-districts are cities that are pretty or even very vulnerable to flood disasters. Therefore, the Government must observe which areas are highly prone to flooding to anticipate safety precautions. One of the relevant methods for handling this case is k-means clustering using the Silhouette Coefficient and Davies-Bouldin Index evaluation. This research uses a quantitative approach using the Silhouette Coefficient and Davies Bouldin Index Analysis method. Based on the research that has been carried out, the results can be obtained that cluster 1 consists of the sub-districts of Medan Polonia, Medan Johor, Medan Selayang, Medan Baru, Medan Tuntungan and Medan Barat. Cluster 2 only has one member, namely the Medan Maimun sub-district; Cluster 3 consists of Medan Sunggal and Medan Belawan sub-districts, and Cluster 4 consists of Medan Marelan, Medan Helvetia and Medan Timur sub-districts. The results of the clustering evaluation that was carried out obtained a Silhouette Coefficient value of 0.505539942 and a Davies-Bouldin Index value of 0.30055. This means that the grouping carried out in this research is accurate.

Abstract

In this study, rambutan (Nephelium Lappaceum L.) seeds were used to fabricate green carbon dots (gCDs) by employing a hydrothermal process. The synthesized CDs were evaluated using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for the structural properties as well as UV-Vis and fluorescence spectrophotometry for the optical properties. UV-Vis examination revealed that the produced gCDs showed emission-dependent photoluminescence excitation, with two absorption peaks at 265 nm and 330 nm. The presence of functional groups and chemical composition such as C=C, C=O, -COOH, and -OH on the surface of gCDs was confirmed by the results of FTIR and XPS spectra. Consequently, gCDs present several opportunities for exploration in a range of applications.

Abstract

This paper reports on the Cangkuak from the fermentation of meat and bones using bamboo shoots, added rice and salt stored in a container (anaerobic conditions). The cangkuak was obtained from the Riau (Indonesia). The cangkuak may contain lactic acid bacteria (LAB), which are essential in the fermentation process. Most LAB is gram-positive bacteria with some health benefits, such as antibacterial. This study investigated the isolate and characterized LAB from cangkuak by an antibacterial activity test. The bacteria used Bacillus Cereus, S. Aureus, E. Colli, and Salmonella sp. Bacterial isolates were grown on MRS agar media, to which 0,5% CaCO3 was added and then purified using the streak method. The results obtained were pure isolates. The results of the cangkuak isolation showed 8 LAB isolates. The eight isolates were characterized by standard Bergey's manual of systemic bacteriology (genus Lactobacillus sp). Furthermore, an antibacterial test revealed differences in ineffectiveness against the inhibition zone. Cangkuak (CK) 3.1 isolate was most effective in inhibiting bacterial growth. The size of the inhibition zone for Aureus, E. Colli, and Salmonella sp. were 10.82 mm, 12.65 mm, and 12.29 mm, respectively. This result could indicate the presence of LAB isolates from fermented foods that have the potential to be antibacterial.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the ethnoscience of the Terbang Gembrung percussion instrument of the indigenous community in Kampung Naga, Tasikmalaya, West Java, and its potential as a local context in physics education. The Terbang Gembrung percussion instrument of Kampung Naga employs an acoustic membrane of goat leather with an air column of albasia or manglid wood. The research methodology encompasses qualitative descriptive methods, including literature study and interviews, as well as observation methods involving the measurement of sound frequency generated using the Decibel X smartphone application under conditions where the instrument produces typical sound. The Terbang Gembrung tradition holds religious value and is commonly performed during significant celebrations such as Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, and other religious festivities. Based on the observation results, it was found that four types of percussion instruments produce sound frequencies at four harmonic levels according to the membrane size. The first harmonic has a frequency of approximately 199.0 Hz, the second harmonic around 211.5 Hz, the third harmonic approximately 231.5 Hz, and the fourth harmonic around 261.0 Hz. The design of the percussion instrument is in the form of a half-spherical cone, with the cross-sectional area decreasing from the membrane to the end of the air column. The potential application of science principles to the Terbang Gembrung percussion instrument makes it a cultural artifact that can serve as a local context in physics education at the high school level, focusing on the topics of sound waves, especially sound intensity and sound frequency.

Abstract

Rats are rodents that have a negative impact on society, both in agriculture and industry. Rodents roaming around in the house can damage electrical connections, which can trigger fires and cause fires, as well as causing economic losses. This research used a PIR sensor to detect movement and an ESP32 cam to stream live video on the blynk application. Box two contains a series of ultrasonic sound generators emitted through speakers. Additionally, tool tests were carried out using a 12 V battery test, PIR sensor test, relay test, ESP32 Cam, ultrasonic generator PWM test, Blynk test, and tool test on mice. This research aims to design a device for detecting and repelling mice in homes based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The design of this tool uses an ESP32   microcontroller as the main controller. This tool also has components such as an ESP32   cam, relay, ultrasonic speaker, 3.7-volt battery, PIR sensor, servo motor, and ultrasonic sound generator module. This tool has a working system in the form of a PIR sensor that detects mouse movement. Then the ultrasonic sound automatically comes on, the servo motor moves and the ESP32   cam connected to the Blynk application will stream live video. This tool also has an on and off button system via the blynk application. The test results carried out by the PIR sensor were able to detect the presence of objects at a distance of 5 m. The frequency issued by the ultrasonic module and measurements made via an oscilloscope has an average percent error of 1,02%. This proves that the performance of the designed prototype tool works well. The results of tests to repel mice using ultrasonic sound, which could disturb the mice, were at 40-50 kHz. The overall test results for the home IoT-based mouse detection and repellent system worked well.

Abstract

Chili is one of the vegetables cultivated by Indonesian farmers because of its high market value and many health benefits. Manual watering of plants still has weaknesses because water use is unlimited, especially for chili plants. Therefore, IoT is needed to water plants automatically and in real-time based on soil moisture and can monitor chilli plants' air temperature and pH. This research aims to replace manual watering with automatic watering. The system was tested and installed in a greenhouse using UV plastic measuring 70cm × 70cm × 70cm. The microcontroller used is ESP32. Other components are RTC DS3231, capacitive soil moisture sensor, DHT22 sensor, soil pH sensor, water pump, and blynk application. This device operates when reading input from the RTC, namely 07:00 WIB and 17:00 WIB. The watering pump will work at humidity <60% and stop at humidity >80%. At temperatures <24˚C, the lamp will be active and at temperatures >33˚C to <55˚C, condensation will be carried out using a nozzle sprayer. The soil pH sensor detects soil conditions, namely acidic, neutral or alkaline. The results of this research are quite good and follow the designed program. The average % error on the DHT22 sensor is 1.433%, and the soil pH sensor is 0.74%. Capacitive soil moisture sensors are also quite good at reading soil moisture conditions. Likewise, the RTC test has a time difference of only 6 seconds with the comparison tool.
