Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the WOW Crossword application as a part of Game-Based Learning in teaching vocabulary through students’ feedback. This study is a descriptive quantitative approach. The subject of the research is the students at SMK N 1 Warureja. There were 36 students majoring in X AKL.3. The data was gained from students’ feedback consisted of 15 statements, which were categorized into 4 rating scales in the level of Very Poor (1), Poor (2), Good (3), and Very Good (4). The feedback form will then be analysed and tabulated to determine the students’ Feedback performance, vocabulary achievement of the students, and students’ Feedback interpretation criteria in each meeting. The average feedback scores started at 51.5 to 60, which indicates that a significant majority of the students expressed high levels of satisfaction, motivation, and enjoyment during the learning process. Furthermore, feedback scores showed relatively low standard deviations, such as 3.2 in Meeting 5 and 4.3 in Meeting 4. The study also examined the development of students’ vocabulary acquisition at each of the meetings. The average vocabulary scores ranged from 13.78 to 22.67, reflecting the increasing familiarity of students with both the content and the game mechanism, as well as more targeted or appropriately challenging vocabulary tasks in those sessions. The minimum total score obtained by a student was 1854, while the maximum was 2044, out of a possible maximum value of 2160, which was then categorized into Good to Very Good. The Students consistently provided high feedback scores across all meetings, indicating strong motivation, enjoyment, and satisfaction with the learning method. These results confirm the potential of game-based tools to create an interactive and stimulating classroom atmosphere.

Abstract

Educational administration and supervision are two fundamental, interrelated aspects of educational resource development. Administration functions as a manager who plans, organizes, and oversees the efficient use of resources, while supervision plays a role in improving the quality of teaching and teacher performance through constructive guidance and evaluation. This study aims to identify the nature of administration and supervision and their roles in developing the professionalism of educators and improving the quality of education. Through a literature review, it was found that collaboration between effective administration and targeted supervision creates a conducive learning environment, supports the growth of teacher competencies, and contributes to the achievement of the educational vision. The results of the study indicate that administration and supervision are two important elements that serve as the main foundation in educational resource development. Administration provides a structure and governance that regulates resource allocation, planning, and organization that ensures the continuity of the educational process efficiently and in alignment with the school's vision. Supervision, on the other hand, plays a role in providing guidance, evaluation, and motivation for educators to continuously improve their competence and teaching quality. The synergy between administration and supervision not only supports the professional development of teachers and other educational staff but also creates a conducive learning environment and improves the overall quality of educational services. With structured administration and effective supervision, schools are able to achieve higher educational standards, meet community expectations, and contribute to the formation of a more qualified generation

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of holistic education through annual activities in shaping the character of female students at Darussalam Gontor Putri 8 Modern Islamic Boarding School. Holistic education at Gontor is not limited to classroom instruction but is also embedded in various extracurricular and institutional traditions such as Khutbatu-l-‘Arsy Introduction Week (PKA), Porseni, Panggung Gembira, and scouting activities. These activities serve not merely as formal events, but as systematic platforms for internalizing core character values including discipline, responsibility, leadership, cooperation, and independence. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research collected data through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, with participants comprising fifth- and sixth-grade female students, supervising teachers, and archival records of annual activities. The findings reveal that students’ active involvement in planning and organizing these activities fosters comprehensive character development. They acquire leadership experience, decision-making ability, conflict resolution skills, teamwork, and accountability across diverse roles. Moreover, the activities nurture honesty, managerial competence, and solidarity within the student body. In conclusion, annual activities at Gontor function as a vital mechanism in implementing holistic education, effectively cultivating sustainable character values among female students. This study contributes to the discourse on character education by demonstrating how structured extracurricular traditions within Islamic boarding schools can serve as integral instruments of holistic education. It provides practical insights for educators and policymakers seeking sustainable models of character formation that extend beyond classroom learning, thereby reinforcing the role of institutional culture in shaping students’ moral and social competencies

Abstract

Tropical glaciers, such as those in Puncak Jaya, Papua, are among the most climate-sensitive ice masses on Earth, yet their small size, complex topography, and persistent cloud cover hinder accurate monitorin. Conventional threshold-based mapping methods, including the Normalized Difference Snow Index (NDSI), often misclassify debris-covered ice and bright bedrock, limiting their applicability in tropical mountain environments. This study develops and evaluates an integrated Linear Spectral Unmixing Analysis (LSUA)–Geographic Information System (GIS) methodology for high-fidelity mapping of glacier extent and surface composition in Puncak Jaya. Multispectral Landsat 8 OLI imagery was processed using LSUA to generate fractional abundance maps of clean ice, debris-covered ice, supraglacial water, and surrounding terrain. These outputs were integrated with Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) in a GIS framework for glacier area computation, elevation-based change detection, and spatial context analysis. Accuracy assessment using confusion matrices and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) metrics against high-resolution reference imagery demonstrated that the LSUA–GIS workflow outperformed conventional NDSI mapping, particularly in detecting debris-covered ice, with an overall classification accuracy exceeding 90%. Results revealed continued glacier retreat, with the most significant ice loss occurring at elevations 4.884 MASL. The proposed workflow offers a reproducible and scalable approach for mapping small, fragmented tropical glaciers, providing critical data for climate impact assessment, hydrological planning, and long-term monitoring in remote mountain regions.

Abstract

The Islamic tradition of aqiqah is normatively prescribed by the slaughter of a goat as a form of gratitude for the birth of a child. However, the people of Torosiaje Jaya Village practice the qukkor tradition by slaughtering a chicken as an alternative form that has developed through generations. This study aims to uncover the meaning and implications of using chickens in the aqiqah tradition and examine the implementation of living hadith in this local cultural practice. Using qualitative methods with an anthropological and historical approach, as well as thematic hadith analysis (maudhu'i), this study found that the qukkor tradition reflects the adaptation of hadith values in the socio-economic context of the community. In addition to preserving local culture, this practice strengthens social solidarity and the community's religious identity. Differences in community understanding between the slaughter of chickens and goats reflect the dynamics of the meaning of hadith in everyday life, making this tradition a concrete representation of living hadith that develops in the local cultural realm.

Abstract

The digital transformation in the Islamic finance industry presents complex challenges to the effectiveness of the Islamic supervisory system. This study aims to analyze the strategic role of the Islamic Supervisory Board (SSB) in the digital financial ecosystem and identify key challenges and policy directions needed to strengthen its supervisory function. The research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods and case studies based on secondary literature, encompassing national regulations, policy reports, and recent scientific articles. Key findings indicate that the SSB faces structural, regulatory, and technological constraints that impact its supervisory effectiveness, particularly in the face of developments in financial technology such as Islamic fintech and digital banking. The lack of specific regulations, low technological literacy among SSB members, and limited institutional capacity hinder adaptive supervisory integration. The study also highlights the importance of utilizing real-time audit technology and strengthening regulations based on the principles of maqasid sharia to support the sustainability of the digital Islamic financial system. The study's conclusions emphasize that strengthening Islamic supervision in the digital era requires regulatory reform, increased human resource capacity, and technology integration based on Islamic governance principles. This study has implications for policy design and the development of an innovative and sustainable Islamic supervisory system.

Abstract

Technological advances in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0 eras have facilitated access to information, but have also led to negative impacts such as identity and spiritual crises, known as "westomania." Current national education practices, dominated by the Intellectual Intelligence (IQ), Emotional Intelligence (EQ), and Spiritual Intelligence (SQ) approaches, often fail to shape strong character and noble morals. This study introduces a new paradigm, namely the Ruhiology Quotient (RQ), as a solution to bridge the gap between academic intelligence and spiritual depth. RQ is defined as the ability to present soul energy (God Light), which functions as a source and driver and glue for other intelligences (IQ, EQ, SQ, and Artificial Intelligence/AI). This concept is rooted in the Islamic view of the spirit, which is the core of human existence and the source of all true intelligence. Through a qualitative-descriptive approach, this study examines the urgency of restoring Ruhiology to achieve the goals of national education as a whole. The results show that education centered on RQ will produce a golden generation that is not only intelligent, but also possesses spiritual depth and noble morals, and is able to balance technological advancement with humanitarian values. The implementation of Ruhiology through holistic education offers a model that transintegrates science and technology and faith and piety, thus creating individuals who are adaptive, productive, and virtuous.

Abstract

Student engagement is a crucial indicator of the success of the learning process. Engagement is demonstrated not only through physical involvement, such as participating in discussions, asking questions, or answering questions, but also through mental engagement in understanding and reflecting on the material. However, in practice, many students still exhibit low levels of engagement, resulting in learning that tends to be one-way and suboptimal. This low engagement can result in a lack of learning motivation, weak critical thinking skills, and poor overall learning outcomes. This study aims to improve student engagement through the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model combined with the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), conducted over two cycles, with students of grade X-C at SMANOR Tadulako Palu as subjects. The research instrument was an engagement observation sheet, while data analysis was descriptive to describe the level of student engagement from cycle to cycle. The results showed an increase in student engagement. In cycle I, the average student engagement rate was only 58.71%, which is considered moderate. After improvements were made to the learning process in cycle II, the engagement rate increased to 75.75%, which is considered good. This improvement occurred because the PBL model enabled students to be more active in problem-solving, while the CRT approach made learning more relevant to their cultural context. Thus, it can be concluded that the combination of PBL and CRT has proven effective in creating a contextual, collaborative, and student-centered learning environment. This model is able to increase student motivation, self-confidence, and engagement in Biology learning.
