ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the speech disorder experienced by EFL student at SLB BC Kepanjen who suffer from dementia. Dementia is characterized by a progressive decline in cognitive abilities that affects communication and language skills. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a case study method. Data was collected from recorded conversations with a student with the initials MB, aged nineteen, who was diagnosed with dementia. Fifteen expressions identified based on Van Riper's (2003) theory were analyzed. From the analysis, it was found that the student experienced three types of speech impairment viz: phonation, articulation, and symbolization disorders. Out of the total fifteen phrases analyzed, seven were found to be in phonation disorder, which was the dominating finding, five phrases were identified as Articulation disorder. Then, three phrases showed symbolization disorder. This study emphasizes the need for more adaptive educational approaches and training for teachers in effective communication techniques. Furthermore, the results of this study indicate that speech impairment in EFL student at SLB BC Kepanjen is strongly influenced by the progressive condition of dementia. With a better understanding of the challenges student face, educators can provide more effective support to help student overcome language difficulties and improve their overall learning experience. This study opens up opportunities for future research into the long-term impact of dementia on language learning and the effectiveness of interventions implemented.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Think-Pair-Share (TPS) models on students’ creative thinking skills in Islamic Education at SMP Negeri 6 Watampone. Creative thinking is an essential competency in the Merdeka Curriculum that must be developed through innovative learning models integrating Islamic values with contemporary methodologies. The study employed a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design, involving 60 randomly selected seventh-grade students. Data were collected using questionnaires on the implementation of PBL and TPS, as well as creative thinking tests measuring four indicators: fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression with the assistance of Jamovi software. The results showed that the implementation level of PBL reached a Respondent Achievement Level (RAL) of 77.46%, while TPS achieved 73.7%, both categorized as high, with PBL demonstrating more consistent implementation. Students’ creative thinking was dominated by fluency (69.95%) and originality (69.4%), while elaboration was the main challenge (50.5%). PBL had a significant effect on creative thinking (R² = 29.3%, p < 0.001), TPS contributed (R² = 26%, p < 0.001), and their combined effect reached R² = 33% (p < 0.001), indicating a superior synergistic influence. This study confirms that the integration of PBL and TPS is effective in fostering students’ creative thinking in Islamic Education at SMP Negeri 6 Watampone. It further recommends optimizing elaboration skills through targeted programs and systematic, sustainable implementation.

Abstract

Mastering English pronunciation remains one of the greatest challenges for EFL learners, particularly in mastering stress, rhythm, and intonation. Traditional drilling methods often feel monotonous and ineffective, leading to disengagement and slow progress. This study explores rap music as a transformative tool that blends rhythm, repetition, and phonetics to enhance pronunciation learning. Implementing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, the study involved 15 advanced students at SMA Raudlatul Ulum Gondanglegi. The intervention combined rap music with phonetic symbols, providing a structured yet dynamic approach to pronunciation practice. Data were gathered through pre- and post-tests, classroom observations, and student feedback surveys. Results showed a remarkable improvement, with an average increase of 18% in post-test pronunciation scores. Moreover, students exhibited heightened confidence, engagement, and enthusiasm in speaking activities. These findings highlight rap music as a powerful and innovative alternative to traditional pronunciation instruction, offering a more immersive and motivating learning experience. Future research should examine its long-term effects and potential integration into broader language learning curricula.

Abstract

This article discusses legal engineering in the context of fulfilling the requirements for someone to become an heir according to Islamic inheritance law. In practice, there are certain conditions in which someone does not immediately meet the requirements as an heir due to various reasons, such as differences in religion, criminal acts against the heir, or a marital status that is not yet valid under Islamic law. Through a juridical-normative approach and literature study, this article explores the possibility of legal engineering within the limits of the sharia corridor to accommodate the needs of justice and welfare in the family. This study shows that legal engineering in the form of contemporary ijtihad, reinterpretation of nas, and utilization of positive law can be a solution to formal obstacles that hinder someone from obtaining inheritance rights. However, its application must still be based on the principles of justice, welfare, and not conflict with the basic values of Islamic law. This article is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic family law, especially in the field of inheritance.

Abstract

The study of Qur’an Surah An-Nisa verse 34 often becomes a crucial point in understanding gender relations within Islam. Textually, the verse positions men as qawwam (caretakers or leaders) of the family; however, its interpretation has evolved from traditional exegesis toward more contextual readings that are inclusive and gender-just. This research employs a qualitative approach through library research and Abdullah Saeed’s contextual hermeneutics to analyze both classical and contemporary interpretations of the verse. The findings indicate that male leadership in this verse is functional, grounded in social and economic responsibilities, rather than a form of domination or moral superiority. Patriarchal interpretations have often restricted women’s roles, particularly in access to education, economic participation, and leadership. In contrast, inclusive interpretations emphasize that men and women share equal spiritual standing before God and that their social roles are complementary rather than hierarchical. Patriarchal culture and social constructions remain major challenges in achieving gender justice. Therefore, a reinterpretation of religious texts based on maqasid al-shariah is necessary to build a just and harmonious social structure. This study contributes to reinforcing the understanding that Islam, as a religion upholding justice and compassion, supports gender equality as an integral part of its values.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the inclusion of cohabitation in the National Criminal Code (KUHP Nasional). The research method used is normative research which uses secondary data, such as legal rules, norms and expert opinions, as well as using a historical approach. This research does not only look at the reasons for including cohabitation but also discusses the regulation of cohabitation as a complaint offense delict (klacht delict). This research produces an important point that cohabitation is not something new in Indonesia but, long before it was regulated in the National Criminal Code, several regional regulations had previously regulated cohabitation. Apart from that, cohabitation is regulated in a limitative manner, that is, for people who are married, only the husband or wife can complain, and for those who are not married, only parents or children can complain, in this case cohabitation is a complaint offense delict. Thus, there needs to be a unified perception between Law Enforcement Officials including the police, so that in the future there will be no more random raids and the interests of each individual can be protected.

Abstract

his study examines the reconstruction of the Islamic Education Curriculum (PAI) in Indonesia with a focus on gender responsiveness and religious moderation. Amidst increasing identity-based polarization and gender-based discrimination, there is a growing urgency for an inclusive and transformative educational framework. This study uses a qualitative-empirical method using literature studies, curriculum analysis, and interviews with PAI educators. The research findings reveal that the curriculum is still heavily biased towards doctrinal teaching with limited space for gender equality and pluralist discourse. This study proposes a conceptual model that integrates gender-sensitive pedagogy and wasathiyah (moderation) values rooted in the principles of the Qur'an and national education goals. This reconstruction aims to foster critical awareness, tolerance, and social justice values in students. The implications of this study support the revision of the national curriculum content, teacher training modules, and the development of inclusive learning models in PAI.

Abstract

This article discusses how Islamic educational philosophy can be the foundation for designing a holistic and contextual curriculum through an integrative and humanistic approach. In facing the challenges of contemporary education that tends to be fragmented and oriented solely to academic achievement, this approach offers a comprehensive solution by touching on all dimensions of students' humanity, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and social. This study uses a descriptive qualitative research method based on literature studies, by reviewing relevant scientific literature in the last five years. The results of the study show that Islamic educational philosophy through ontological, epistemological, and axiological foundations places students as active subjects in the educational process that unites faith, knowledge, and charity. The holistic curriculum is designed to develop the potential of students as a whole, while the contextual curriculum links learning to the reality of life. The integrative approach avoids the dichotomy between religious knowledge and general knowledge, while the humanistic approach encourages recognition of the dignity and unique potential of each student. The implications of designing a curriculum based on this philosophy are seen in the learning pattern, the role of the teacher as a murabbi, and the evaluation model that touches on the affective and spiritual aspects. However, its implementation still faces challenges, such as limited teacher competency, inflexible curriculum structure, and lack of supporting facilities. Therefore, synergy is needed between policy makers, educators, and the community to realize Islamic education that is holistic, contextual, and meaningful spiritually and socially.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the decline in student character caused by the Distance Learning System (PJJ) during the Covid-19 pandemic. To address this issue, the Ministry of Education and Culture (Mendikbudristek) launched the Merdeka Curriculum along with its innovation, the Project Strengthening Pancasila Student Profile (P5). The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of P5 in shaping student character at MTsN 12 Jakarta. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection methods including observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis is conducted through data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings indicate that the implementation of P5 involves three stages: planning, implementation, and evaluation. During the planning stage, the formation of the P5 facilitator team, school readiness assessment, design of dimensions, themes, and time allocation, as well as the preparation of modules and reporting strategies, were carried out. The implementation stage includes monitoring, optimization, and project closure activities. Evaluation is conducted through two-way discussions, observation, and the use of rubrics and questionnaires. The P5 activities have successfully shaped various student characters, such as being religious, nationalist, independent, cooperative, and having integrity, which are reflected in their daily activities.
