Abstract

Assessment literacy is fundamental for teacher because it is related to decision making task which will then give impact to students’ future. Assessment literacy influences teachers’ routine practice of assessment in classroom. Without knowing the current assessment literacy among teachers, it is difficult to monitor or give relevant reinforcement to improve the quality of assessment practice. Therefore, this study is aimed to figure out the profile of science teachers’ assessment literacy through a 54-items questionnaire developed from Assessment Literacy Standard (ALS) from Michigan Assessment Consortium. The questionnaire consists of selected choice response and open-ended question. Fifteen secondary school science teachers voluntarily participated in this study which came from 9 school in West Sumatra. Then, data was analyzed with descriptive analysis technique. Our findings revealed that while most teachers agreed with the ideal condition of assessment practice stated in the questionnaire, most are not sure when it comes to analyzing data from assessment with statistic tools or taking the use of assessment result further to improve learning quality for both students and teacher themselves. Implication of these findings on the preparation program of science student teacher in Universitas Negeri Padang was discussed further.

Abstract

Tenaga pendidik yang selanjutnya kita sebut guru, pada hakikatnya dituntut untuk memiliki kompetensi yang meliputi empat kompetensi yaitu kompetensi pedagogik, kompetensi profesional, kompetensi kepribadian dan kompetensi sosial. Pada kompetensi professional, guru diharuskan menguasai bidang yang diasuhnya dan dapat melakukan perbaikan terus menerus sebagai bentuk usaha peningkatan kompetensinya. Salah satu usahanya adalah dengan melakukan kegiatan penelitian dan menghasilkan karya-karya ilmiah. Pemerintah sendiri juga memfasilitasi dan memotivasi guru untuk secara konsisten dan berkala mengembangkan kompetensi ini, salah satunya adalah mengharuskan guru menghasilkan karya ilmiah sebagai persyaratan pada kegiatan kompetisi guru seperti kegiatan guru berprestasi, guru teladan dan sebagainya. Selain itu, untuk kenaikan pangkat tertentu sekarang juga diwajibkan bagi guru-guru menghasilkan karya ilimiah maupun membuat Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) di kelas yang diajarnya yang tak lain adalah untuk menghasilkan SDM guru yang terbaik. Fokus Bimbingan Teknis yang diberikan yaitu berupa pendampingan dalam membuat proposal, item penilaian untuk pelaksanaan PTK dan pembuatan artikel dari hasil pelaksanaan PTK. Data awal dari subjek yang diteliti yaitu Guru IPA SMP Kota Solok dan Kabupaten Solok memperlihatkan sebagian besar subjek menemukan kendala dalam penulisan proposal PTK (88%) maupun dalam melaksanakan PTK (70%), sebagian besar belum pernah melaksanakan PTK (61%) serta sebagian besar belum pernah mempublikasikan hasil PTK (82%). Sisi positifnya adalah sebagian besar subjek telah pernah mendapatkan pelatihan terkait PTK (85%) dan merasa kurang dari pelatihan yang telah mereka terima (67%). Dari kondisi tersebut terlihat perlunya diberikan Bimbingan Teknis bagi subjek agar pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan kompetensi subjek, terkhususnya kompetensi professional. Setelah diberikan pembekalan, pendampingan dan pembinaan terhadap subjek yang diteliti, terlihat perubahan yang cukup signifikan. Sebanyak 50% guru mendapatkan peningkatan motivasi dalam melaksanakan PTK, 45% guru telah mengalami penngkatan dalam kemampuan berpikir, 59% guru telah dapat menyelesaikan kendala yang dihadapainya terkait PTK, 45% guru menilai kreativitasnya meningkat setelah mengikuti kegiatan bimbingan teknis serta 59% guru merasakan terciptanya bentuk kolaborasi antar sesama guru matapelajaran IPA dalam melaksanakan PTK.

Abstract

Respon guru merupakan salah satu aspek penting setelah suatu kegiatan berupa pelatihan selesai dilaksanakan, karena akan mempengaruhi hasil atau output. Sampel yang diambil adalah sebanyak 17 orang guru IPA se-kabupaten Pasaman dan kegiatan diadakan di SMP Negeri 1 Lubuk Sikaping, Sumatera Barat. Berdasarkan data yang telah berhasil kita himpun, respon guru terhadap kegiatan ini sangat beragam. Respon tertinggi yang diberikan pada kategori baik (efektifitas penggunaan waktu pelatihan), sedangkan kategori sangat baik tertinggi berada di aspek penguasaan materi pelatihan. Dengan adanya data berupa respon guru ini, diharapkan akan memperbaiki kualitas pada kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat selanjutnya.

Abstract

The intend of this study is to develop a valid and practical educational game. Expected this game can give rise to create a pleasurable atmosphere in the evaluation process of the concept of the breeding system in plants and animals in grade 9. The game is named “Weismann”, derived from the name of the scientist who originated the germplasm theory, August Friedrich Leopold Weismann. This research belongs to the type of Research and Development. The instruments used in this study were interview questionnaires, validation questionnaires, and practicality questionnaires. The data source came from the results of interviews with science teachers and students, the results of products assessments by experts, as well as the practicality test scores for the use of games by teachers and junior high school students. Based on study, two results could be stated. First, the educational game “Weismann” is in the very valid category with a value of 91.2. Second, the use of the “Weismann” educational game according to teachers and students is in the very practical category with values of 95.0 and 83.7, respectively. It could be inferenced that the educational game “Weismann” based on Google Sites, the concept of the breeding system of plants and animals in grade 9 is valid and practically to used in science learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the efectiveness of online class on fudamental biophysics class during COVID 19 quarantine. The sample of this research are 70 undergraduate students that is Registered in the even semester of the 2019-2020 school year. The method of this research is qualitative descriptive using google form to collect the data. The result shows that online class on fundamental biohysics during COVID 19 quarantine is not effective. Data shows more than 80% students disagree of studying fundamental biophysic using online class. The data shows that more 50% students not motivated during online learning.

Abstract

Etnosains adalah kegiatan mentransformasikan antara sains asli yang terdiri atas seluruh pengetahuan tentang fakta masyarakat yang berasal dari kepercayaan turun-temurun dan masih mengandung mitos. Kajian etnosains dapat dilakukan pada pembuatan sala bulek yang memiliki teknik tertentu agar sala yang dihasilkan menjadi renyah dan bagian dalam sala tidak terasa keras saat dikunyah. Sala lauak merupakan makanan tradisional rata – rata sebesar bola pimpong berwarna kuning kunyit. Tersusun atas tepung beras, cabe, kunyit, bawang-bawangan, garam, serta ikan asin. Rasa ikan asin inilah yang membuat 'sala' itu bernama Sala Lauak. Sala bulek merupakan jenis sala lauak yang bertekstur renyah di luar dan lembut di dalam yang berbentuk bulat teratur. Sala bulek biasanya mudah ditemukan di warung lontong di Kota Pariaman khususnya di Kampung Baru Padusunan.

Abstract

This article aims to describe about malam banai. Malam bainai is one of the important series in thepreparation for the wedding of the Minangkabau community in the city of Padang with the core of theevent, which is to redden the fingers of the prospective bride with a collision of henna leaves calledLawsonia inermis. The philosophy is to protect the prospective bride from all events that can disturb hersmooth running. the journey of the events to be carried out, both those imported by envious humans andby demons. There was a belief of old people, evil desires from someone can be input through thefingertips. Therefore the fingertips must be protected in red. In placing the henna on the finger, there isthe meaning of each finger that is attached to the henna. Lawsonia inermis L. leaves are effective againstvarious bacteria and have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects, so they are widely usedfor medicinal purposes.

Abstract

The incense tree is one of the native Indonesian trees that has medium to large sizes with a diameter of 20-30 cm and a height of 20 to 30 meters. Has a straight stem with slight branches and reddish skin. Frankincense single leaf arranged in a spiral and oval, round elongated with tapered leaf tips. Incense fruit is round and oval with a rather small size. The brown seeds are wrapped in a thick, hard flesh. The use of incense has been known primarily as a traditional medicinal ingredient in Sangir village, Kayu Aro sub-district, Kerinci district because it is effective in treating various diseases, one of which is measles. The substances contained in incense are cinnamic acid, benzoate acid, styrol, styracin, vanillin, coniferilsinamat, coniferil benzoate and a resin containing benzoresinol.

Abstract

Arecanut is a crop with many benefit, but has not yet been considered a special commodity. Betelnut production can reach 50-100/ spadix and 150-250 / spadix for the size of smaller fruit. In 2003 areca exporting volume reached to 77 126 347/kg with value of US$ 22 960 446. The tanin and alkaloid content are two dominant compound at areca seed. Tanin content about 15%, as a compound of polifenol which can in dissolve alcohol and gliserol, while alkaloid 0,3-0,6%. Using of betelnut as messed together with ingredient piper betel have come to habit hereditaryly at some certain area in Indonesia, but its limited consumer. Empirically, areca seed can overcome various disease type. Various benefit able to be obtained from using of seed propose to shall be as follows 1) as requirement of fundamental, source of energy and for the ceremony, 2) in the place of cigarette, arranging digestion and prevent sleepily, 3) cosmetic and slender 4) raw material of drug, and 5) as antidepresi.
