This study aims to see the effect of Jigsaw techniques in improving students’ reading comprehension. The population in this research was students of X grade SMK Handayani Luwuk. The research sample involved all students using total sampling technique. The main instrument in collecting research data is test. Data analysis used t-test analysis to compare students’ means score. The calculation result shows that the t-counted value 8.271 is higher than the t-table 1.795. it means that improving students’ reading comprehension by applying Jigsaw technique was effective. The alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of Jigsaw technique is effective in improving students’ reading comprehension.

This research aims to find out the effectiveness of the Presentation, Practice, Production (PPP) method in developing students’ speaking skills at MA Al-khairaat luwuk. This research employed a pre-experimental research design involving one-group pre-test–post-test design. The independent variable of this research was Presentation, Practice, Production (PPP) method and the dependent variable was students’ speaking skills. The research population was eleventh-grade students of MA Al-khairaat Luwuk. There were two classes in this population namely one religion class consisted of 20 students and one science class consisted of 12 students. The sample of this research was the religion class. The test included pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed statistically. Having analyzed the data, the result revealed that the t-counted was (9.87) with a degree of freedom 19 and a significance level of 0.05, t-table was (1.72913). Therefore, the t-test result was higher than the t-table. It means that the hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, the result showed that there was a significant effect using the Presentation, Practice, Production (PPP) method in developing students’ speaking skills at MA Al-khairaat Luwuk.

The purpose of this research is to find out the improvement of students’ reading comprehension in eleventh grade at SMA Muhammadiyah Luwuk. To know whether the method is effective or not, the researcher used one-group pre-test and post-test to be applied in eleventh grade. The research conducted eight meetings. The first meeting was for pre-test and sixth meetings were for treatments, and the last meeting was for post-test. As the quantitative method, the researcher analyzed the data using t-test. The results showed that there was significant diffrence on the students’ reading acievement with humorous stories. In the pre-experimental, the students’ mean of pre-test was 36.64 scores, and the students’ mean of post-test was 82.14 scores. The result showed that the t-counted = 8.73 was greater than t-table 1.771. In other words, humorous stories can improve students’ reading comprehension for the eleventh class of senior high school.Keywords: Humorous Stories; Reading Comprehension; Mahasiswa EFL.

This research aimed to find out the effectiveness of using Berlitz method in teaching vocabulary in terms of noun and verb at first year of SMA PGRI Sungguminasa. The researcher applied experimental method with one group pretest-posttest design. One group was pretested (O1), exposed to a treatment (X) and post-tested (O2). The researcher conducted the treatment in six times meetings. It employed vocabulary test as instrument. The subject of the research were 21 students in XIPS class.The result of statistical analysis of t-test with degree of freedom (df) = n-1, where n=21, (df=20) at the level of significance 0.05 indicated that there was a significance differences between the mean score of the post-test and pre-test. The mean score of pre-test was 30.53 and the mean score of post-test was 56.36. thus, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected, while alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. Therefore, the hypothesis of the research states that There is a significant difference between the students’ vocabulary mastery after using Berlitz method at the first grade of SMA PGRI Sungguminasa in academic year 0f 2014.

The purpose of this research was to determine the correlation between students’ self-confidence and speaking ability at SMA Negeri 1 Peling Tengah. The design of this research was quantitative research with the name correlational design. The population of this research were students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Peling Tengah and the sample was class XI science students, totaling 25 students. In collecting data, the researcher used a questionnaire and speaking scores from the English teacher. The researcher used SPSS 23 for the correlation between students’ self-confidence and speaking ability. After analyzing the questionnaire data, the result or rxy of 0.87 were obtained, the results of a signifinance level of 5% from rtable were 0.413. Therefore the rxy value was higher than the rtable value; 0.87>0.413. It is assumed that there is a correlation between students’ self-confidence and speaking ability at SMA Negeri 1 Peling Tengah in the academic year of 2021. The level of correlation coefficient between variable X and variable Y is 87%, which is a very high correlation or has a correlation.

Abstract The purpose of this research is to know whether the initial stage can improve writing skill, to find out how their paraphrase capabilities result using the initial stage, and to know the students’ writing skill. This research employed quasi experimental design. Independent variable of this research was the initial stage technique and the dependent variable was the students’ writing skill. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students of MAN 1 Luwuk Banggai in 2020/2021 academic year. The way of taking the sample was by using purposive sampling. The samples were class XI IPA 1 as the experimental group and class XI IPA 2 as the control group. The test consisted of pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed statistically. After analyzed the data, the result revealed that the t-counted was 14.38 with a degree of freedom 70 and a significance level of 0.05, t-table was 1.666. Therefore, the t-test result was higher than the t-table. It means that the hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, the result showed that the initial stage technique of paraphrasing can develop writing skill of the eleventh grade students’ of MAN 1 Luwuk Banggai. This research aims to find out whether diary activities can improve students’ writing skill or not. This research is also quantitative research using quasi experimental research design with non-equivalent control group design. The population of this research was student of SMPN 1 Luwuk grade VIII. The sample of this research was 50 students, 25 students from class VIIIa (experimental class) and 25 students from class VIIIb (controlled class). The instrument of this research was test, where it was divided into pre-test and post-test. Treatment was given after giving pre-test in experimental class for about six meetings. Five aspects were assessed in order to find out the result. They are content, organization, vocabulary, language use and mechanism. The result of shows that the t-test of 73.9644 was higher than the t-table of 1.6772 with a significance level of 0.05 with 48 degrees of freedom. Therefore, the hypothesis of “Diary writing can improve the writing skills of the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Luwuk” is accepted. In conclusion, diary activities can be used to improve students’ writing skill at SMPN 1 Luwuk significantly.

The aim of research is to know the correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of eleventh grade students of SMK Negeri 2 Luwuk. This research used correlation design. The population were the students in class XI and consist of 32 students. In collecting data, the researcher used test and statistic SPSS 26 for measuring the score of vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of students. After analyzing test score, the researcher found that the result rxy was 0.902, the result of significance level 5%. Therefore the result is higher than r table 0.902 > 0.5%. The level of correlation coefficient between variable X and Y is a perfect correlation. It is assumed that there is a correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension of students of SMK Negeri 2 Luwuk.

Every culture has its way to celebrate the appearance of a new family member. This study provides some information related to the new baby welcoming celebration of two different cultures: Saluan and Korea. This qualitative study finds some similarities within the celebration as well as their values behind. The differences found in the case of time and the number of events included in the celebration. This study aims to determine the improvement of students' ability in writing descriptive text using YouTube media. The research was conducted from August to September 2021 on first-grade students of SMAN 3 Bunta. This research is quantitative research with 29 students of class X MIA SMAN 3 Bunta as research subjects. In searching for research data, a written test was used which contained pre-test and post-test. The instrument is given to find out how far the students' writing ability is before and before the test. The results showed that the t-count was 5.825. Therefore, the t-table with a one-tailed significance value is 0.05, and it is found that the t-table is 1.701. This shows that the t-count is higher than the t-table. In other words, there was a significant improvement in students' writing ability after using YouTube. Therefore, this research hypothesis can be accepted. The mean pre-test score was 53.17 and the mean post-test was 68.31. This means that the average score of students is increased by 15.14. Thus, the results of the study conclude that using YouTube can improve students' ability in writing descriptive text at SMAN 3 Bunta.
