Abstract

Many Filipinos, especially those from the poorest sectors, have struggled to secure their livelihoods as a result of the pandemic restrictions, and have gone hungry as a result of food system disruptions and inadequate food help from the local government. Hence, various individuals, private corporations, and organizations have emerged with various initiatives to aid fellow Filipinos in need in an effort to strengthen the current situation and address the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The latest Community Pantry Initiatives in different parts of the Philippines are examples of this emergence. Due to this fact, the researchers conducted this study to explore the experiences of community pantry organizers and volunteers in the Mainland Cagayan Valley region. Basic qualitative research design was utilized in this study. Through purposive sampling, a total of 15 informants from the Mainland Cagayan Valley region participated in this study. The data was gathered by engaging in an online interview with the use of open-ended questions. The results revealed three major recurring themes, to wit: (1) Description of Organized Community Pantries among Informants; (2) Reasons for Organizing Community Pantries; and (3) Experiences of Community Pantry Organizers and Volunteers. In conclusion, this study highlights the different community pantries that were organized, the reasons as to why organizers implemented such an initiative, the increased civic engagement of the youth, the promotion of pro-social behaviors among the whole citizenry, and the positive and negative experiences of both community pantry organizers and volunteers

Abstract

In the realm of sports, caffeine has become a popular choice for athletes seeking to enhance their strength and maintain peak performance levels. Research has demonstrated that caffeine can facilitate the conversion of fat into energy and increase calcium levels within muscle cells, thereby improving muscle performance and reducing fatigue. This study was conducted to examine the impact of coffee consumption on muscle strength in a male high school futsal team. Employing an experimental method involving a one-group pre-post test design, the study included 22 teenagers. This research was conducted at SMA 5 Tambun Selatan, Bekasi. The researchers utilized the vertical jump test to gauge leg muscle strength both before and after administering coffee to participants and analysed use paired t-test. The result is increased muscle strength after giving coffee at a dose of 2mg CAF/kgBW (51.45±8.92) and 3mg CAF/kgBW (54.05±8.81) compared to before giving coffee (46.68±9.99). There is relationship between coffee consumption and increased muscle strength (p=0.00)

Abstract

COVID-19 is a single-stranded RNA virus that infects through droplets. Drug consumption is one of the factors that affect the recovery of COVID-19 patients. The drug that has become a trend in the world is the use of natural ingredients, but people do not know whether it is effective in shortening the recovery time. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research related to the relationship between the use of natural ingredients with the length of recovery of COVID-19 patients in early adulthood. This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional method on 94 respondents in the Grogol Village area. Respondents fill out questionnaires via Google form and fill out questionnaires directly. Bivariate analysis of data using SPSS version 29. A total of 50 subjects consumed natural medicines (53.2%), namely jamu (58%), and 34 of them consumed almost every day (68%). There was no significant relationship between the use of natural medicine with the length of recovery of COVID-19 patients in early adulthood

Abstract

The intersection of Narogong Highway-Pangkalan road 5, Bantargebang , Bekasi city, is a four-arm intersection that connects Bekasi City with Bogor Regency and is the access to the Bantargebang TPA. The irregular and narrow traffic conditions at the intersection cause frequent traffic jams and are prone to accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the need for traffic light at the intersection so that a solution can be found in overcoming the problem of congestion and can help smooth the intersection. This analysis is based on the MKJI method (Indonesian Road Capacity Manual) 1997. The results of the analysis show that the intersection of Narogong Highway - Pangkalan road 5, Bekasi City is not able to serve the traffic flow to the maximum, this can be shown by the result of the calculation that has been carried out, so an analysis is needed to improve the performance of the intersection, from the existing calculations alternatives, selected 3 phase alternative with geometric widening, from this solution a cycle time of 80 seconds was obtained with a degree of saturation (DS) = 0.690 to 0.839, and a maximum queue length of 104 meters. Abstract

This research work was designed to evaluate the physicochemical and fat-soluble vitamins constituents of fresh and reused vegetable oils from fast food vendors in Abakaliki Metropolis. The physicochemical constituents such as peroxide value, saponification value, iodine value, acid value, free fatty acid value and fat-soluble vitamins like retinol, tocopherol and phytonadione were determined by standard laboratory procedures. The results of physicochemical constituents of reused vegetable oil showed increased acid value, free fatty acid, peroxide value and saponification value in reused vegetable oil with a drastic decrease in iodine value. The results of fat-soluble vitamins composition of reused vegetable oil showed decreased levels of retinol, tocopherol and phytonadione when compared to fresh vegetable oil from fast food vendors in Abakaliki. The results of the study revealed the poor quality of reused vegetable oil by fast food vendors in Abakaliki Metropolis and such practice should be discouraged for healthy nutrition and diet

Abstract

This study investigates the use of Design Thinking in the creation of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) applications for the preservation of Bali's Lontar Prasi cultural heritage. As a piece of Indonesian cultural patrimony, Lontar Prasi necessitates a novel approach to its preservation in the digital age. This research identifies UI/UX issues of AR/VR applications based on user problems through the phases of Emphasis, Definition, Ideation, Prototype, and Test. Changes were made to the icon display, 3D character information, and UI positioning as a result. With an average score of 80 (Excellent) on the System Usability Scale (SUS), testing revealed a substantial improvement in user satisfaction. These results demonstrate that the Design Thinking methodology is effective for addressing UI/UX issues and enhancing the app's acceptability. In conclusion, this approach can serve as a foundation for future advancements in the preservation of cultural heritage using modern technology for digitized cultural heritage
