Abstract

This study aimed to determine the impact of social media networking sites on students' academic achievement in Zamboanga del Norte, Philippines. The descriptive correlation method was used to select 120 respondents from seven university colleges. The results showed that social media has grown in acceptance, value, and usefulness among professionals and students. Abstract

Educational disruption happens due to Covid -19 Pandemic which made the learning institutions create policies to ensure that the education continues and the quality of learning is not compromised. This results in adhering to students Self-Paced Learning (SPL) mode of education. 46 Tertiary students who were purposively selected served as the respondents In this undertaking. SPL was investigated along the challenges and coping strategies the students experienced as an aftermath of the sudden paradigm shift in education. This research utilized a Case Study as it collected data on a specific event that affects how individuals react and change their behaviour, and the situation based on the respondents’ perspectives was analyzed. Semi-structured interviews and a Focus Group discussion were employed to gather data from the respondents. The data were explored to identify recurring concepts, collapsed similar themes, and interpreted the results through Inductive vivo coding. The Top-level, Middle and Third Codes were identified and plotted into codebook. There are four (4) Top Level Codes disclosed on challenges on Self-Paced composed of: Challenges on Submission of Learning Materials, Challenges on the Use of Learning Technology and Challenges on Schooling at Home.Further, a contextualized Andragogical Instructional Framework on Self-Paced Learning was designed from the sentiments identified as an output of this study.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between factors affecting the acceptance of Bitcoin in the Northern Region of Malaysia. Past studies with reference to the factors affecting the acceptance of Bitcoin were being done on a larger scale outside of Malaysia and none of the studies has narrowed it down to make the research more specific. Therefore, this study proposed to study the factors affecting the acceptance of Bitcoin in the Northern Region of Malaysia based on performance expectancy, risk, social influence, and facilitating conditions. Furthermore, the relationship between the factors affecting the acceptance of Bitcoin and the acceptance of Bitcoin in the Northern Region of Malaysia has been discovered in this research. The population selected for this exploration is the respondents in Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, and Perak. The primary data for this research has been collected from the respondents through an online survey questionnaire. The data collected is then analyzed using various data analysis methods such as descriptive analysis, Pearson Correlation Coefficient Analysis, and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis. Hypotheses testing have been done after the analysis has been analyzed. This study presents supplementary information to potential researchers who wish to study in-depth in this area. Moreover, the results of this study contribute to the users as they get to know what factors to consider when they want to use Bitcoin and it helps Bitcoin Trader Company in their decision-making processes to attract more users. Nevertheless, the factors affecting the acceptance of Bitcoin most efficiently are identified in this research. Therefore, the acceptance of Bitcoin in the Northern Region of Malaysia can be affected by performance expectancy, risk, social influence, and facilitating conditions factors.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the context of sexuality, relationships and factors leading to teenage pregnancy among students of Glan – Padidu National High School. The researcher used descriptive-quantitative research design. The respondents of the study were nine (9) students who were identified using purposive random sampling method. The data showed that respondents’ parents were mostly elementary level, earning P5,000 below monthly and most were self – employed. As to context of sexuality and relationships, most of the respondents engaged in sex when they were 14 – 16 years old, with partners 20 years old and above. Because of physical attraction, expression of love, and curiosity they engaged in such activity. Various factors lead students to get involve in premarital sex. Home factors such as parents lack of supervision; environmental factor such as TV show, movies and peer pressure; and emotional factor such as to satisfy the sexual needs. With this, it is recommended to create an effective program such as parental seminar, no to teenage pregnancy campaign, true love waits seminar and development of an IEC material to at least lessen the growth of statistics if not totally eliminate pre – marital sex among students at a very early stage.

Abstract

Most part of the Philippines are located within watersheds. The best unit for managing natural resources like land and water is a watershed. This study aimed to prioritize the nine sub watersheds of Upper Pulangi River for conservation and rehabilitation using land use and land cover and anthropogenic parameters. Land cover and land use was analysed using remote sensing and GIS techniques to identify and delineate its categories. In terms of anthropogenic parameters, watersheds with the most extensive and highest human alterations, such as surface mining/quarries, illegal logging, land conversion to agriculture, kaingin, built-up areas, and upland settlers, were assigned the top priority for conservation. Watershed prioritization is the process of ranking different sub-watersheds in the order in which they must be addressed for soil conservation measures. Out of the nine sub watersheds being studied, the results showed that Sawaga sub watershed has the high priority for conservation followed by Maapag, Upper Pulangi, Taganibong, and Malingun sub watersheds with medium priority. Panlibatuhan, Tigwa and Taganibong sub watersheds fall under low priority while Manupali sub watersheds has the lowest priority due to its favourable vegetation cover and existing conservation and rehabilitation projects. It is recommended to watershed managers of Upper Pulangi river to prioritize and consider for funding the rehabilitation and soil conservation measures for Sawaga sub watershed. The methods used in this study can be applied to other watershed management under limited resources.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the reasons why the Indonesian government decided to cooperate with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the impact of the termination of the Indonesian government's cooperation with WWF on Nature Conservation in Indonesia. Data was collected through a literature study (library research) which aims to collect secondary data from books, journals, reports, official government websites, and other relevant internet sites to support this research. The data is then analyzed in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings show that the reasons why the Indonesian government, represented by the Ministry of Environment, decided to partner or end the collaboration with the WWF foundation, namely, first, a change in landscape or the scope of WWF's performance which is increasingly being expanded. Second, WWF's activities, especially in the field of climate change, environmental and forestry law enforcement and waste management in the field, do not have a legal basis for legal cooperation. Third, violations of the principle of cooperation and violations of field work and unilateral claims that do not match the facts that occur in the field. Fourth, violations of the substance of the cooperation agreement, including through a series of social media campaigns and publication of reports that are not in accordance with the facts. Meanwhile, the impact of the termination of this collaboration resulted in aspects of the natural environment that were increasingly not maintained and many other projects that were concerned with nature and ecosystem conservation became worse. The limitation of this research is that the researchers did not have time to conduct interviews with WWF to examine in more detail the impact of the termination of cooperation on nature conservation in Indonesia. Subsequent research needs to use the interview method for more comprehensive results.
