Abstract

Families raising children with disabilities often experience profound relational, emotional, and existential challenges that reshape everyday life. Within these complex dynamics, the parent–child relationship becomes a privileged locus for encountering vulnerability, gift, and mutual transformation. This study aims to explore how the embodied experiences of parents and children with disabilities can be understood and renewed through John Paul II's Theology of the Body, particularly his insights on embodiment, gift, and relationality. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, this research gathers and analyses in-depth interviews with parents of children with disabilities to uncover the lived meanings embedded in their daily interactions. The analysis is guided by the theological framework of the Theology of the Body, complemented by Emmanuel Levinas's ethics of the Other and relational perspectives within contemporary pastoral theology. The findings reveal that parents experience their child's body not as a limitation but as an embodied gift that calls forth deeper empathy, self-giving love, and a renewed sense of human dignity. The child's vulnerability becomes a place of grace that transforms parental identity, spirituality, and the understanding of relational reciprocity. Moreover, the study highlights how embodied encounters foster resilience, reshape family practices, and open new horizons for pastoral accompaniment. In conclusion, the integration of phenomenological insights and theological anthropology demonstrates that disability, when viewed through the lens of the Theology of the Body, becomes a transformative pathway of grace that reconfigures the parent–child relationship and enriches the wider pastoral and theological discourse on embodiment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of transformational, transactional, and paternalistic leadership styles and to examine which leadership style has the greatest influence on the performance of MSMEs in Pangkalpinang City. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through questionnaires to 100 respondents from MSMEs in Pangkalpinang City. The data were analyzed and tested using multiple linear regression. All questions/statements in the questionnaire were declared valid because the calculated r value was > r table (calculated r value = above 0.1966) while the Cronbach's Alpha value was 0.883 above 0.60, so the instrument in this study was declared reliable. The results of the study indicate a positive and significant influence between transformational leadership style (β = 0.533; t = 2.618; p = 0.010) and transactional leadership style (β = 0.394; t = 2.308; p = 0.038) on MSME performance. However, paternalistic leadership style (β = 0.192; t = 1.701; p = 0.069) has a positive but insignificant influence on MSME performance. This research is expected to benefit MSME actors so they can demonstrate behaviors that reflect transformational and transactional leadership styles and minimize authoritarian behaviors in paternalistic leadership styles.

Abstract

Final-year university students experience significant academic and psychological demands that may compromise their well-being, making flourishing a critical indicator of optimal functioning. While grit has been widely recognized as a predictor of resilience and well-being, its underlying mechanisms remain underexplored, particularly in relation to social support. This study examines the mediating role of social support in the relationship between grit and flourishing among final-year students. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted with 239 participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the PERMA-Profiler, the Short Grit Scale (Grit-S), and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results reveal that grit significantly predicts both social support and flourishing, while social support also has a significant positive effect on flourishing. Importantly, social support fully mediates the relationship between grit and flourishing, indicating that the effect of grit on well-being operates primarily through relational mechanisms. These findings advance a relational perspective on grit and highlight the importance of integrating personal strengths with supportive social environments in promoting student well-being

Abstract

Public participation is a foundational pillar of democratic governance, particularly in protecting and sustainably managing the environment. Within this framework, every citizen has the right to engage in environmental advocacy without fear of criminal prosecution or civil lawsuits. This legal protection, as stipulated in Article 66 of Law No. 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management (UU PPLH), embodies the concept of Anti-Strategic Litigation Against Public Participation (Anti-SLAPP). However, the Indonesian Anti-SLAPP provision continues to face substantial procedural and substantive weaknesses, resulting in persistent criminalization and judicial harassment against environmental human rights defenders. This study aims to critically analyze procedural deficiencies in the Anti-SLAPP mechanism in Indonesia by comparing it with California (United States) and the Philippines, two jurisdictions that have developed advanced procedural safeguards to ensure public participation. Employing a normative juridical method and comparative legal analysis, this paper explores both international and domestic frameworks governing Anti-SLAPP principles. In addition, this article contextualizes the landmark Decision of the Bangka Belitung High Court No. 21/Pid/2021/PT BBL, delivered on May 10, 2021, which, for the first time, recognized Anti-SLAPP reasoning in a criminal case and acquitted the defendants, Robandi, Muhammad Yusuf, Syamsul Effendi, Heti Rukmana, and Aditama, who had been criminalized for their environmental advocacy. This judicial precedent demonstrates the transformative potential of Article 66 UU PPLH as a progressive legal safeguard. It underscores the urgent need for a coherent procedural framework to operationalize Anti-SLAPP protections in Indonesia

Abstract

The defense capability of a nation in conducting Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) has become an essential requirement in facing modern multidimensional warfare threats. In Indonesia, the enactment of Law No. 21 of 2025 concerning Airspace Management provides a more dynamic legal foundation for integrating airspace management into the national defense system. However, the implementation of this law still faces various gaps, including regulatory disharmony between civilian and military perspectives, institutional fragmentation, data silos between systems, and dependence on foreign technology. This study employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach based on data from the Seskoau A-64 workshop to analyze the real conditions of MDO implementation readiness following the enactment of Law No. 21/2025. The analysis reveals five main strategic issues hindering cross-domain interoperability. To address these, an implementation strategy is formulated using the McKinsey 7S framework, covering shared values, structure, systems, style, staff, skills, and strategy. This strategy is then operationalized into a phased roadmap (short-term, medium-term, and long-term) along with a stakeholder role matrix. The study concludes that policy harmonization, strengthening of cross-sectoral institutions, integration of network-centric command and control systems, and achievement of technological self-reliance are the primary prerequisites for successful MDO implementation in Indonesia. Without an applicable and measurable roadmap, the potential of Law No. 21/2025 as an enabler for national air defense will not be optimally realized.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Instagram as a social media platform in increasing participant engagement in training programs at the Medan Center for Vocational Training and Productivity (BBPVP), as well as to identify the inhibiting factors. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research informants consist of public relations staff, social media administrators, training participants, and members of the public who use social media. The results show that Instagram plays an effective role as a public communication medium in increasing participant engagement through the presentation of attractive visual content, clear information, and interactive features that encourage audience involvement. This effectiveness is reflected in the increased awareness, interest, and registration actions of training participants. However, the effectiveness has not yet been optimal due to several obstacles, such as limited human resources, lack of consistency in content publication, and low levels of interaction among certain segments of the audience. The conclusion of this study indicates that social media has great potential to enhance participation in training programs if supported by well-planned digital communication strategies, relevant content, and professional management.

Abstract

This study examines the local ritual of “Ngantukang ajang” conducted in Bila Bajang, Buleleng, Bali from the anthropolinguistics and semiotics perspective whereas meaning is produced, structured, and communicated through non-verbal semiotic resources. Unlike previous studies that focused on religious and cultural values, this research emphasized on the ritual as semiotic system like objects, movements, and arrangements. The qualitative method was applied by noting down the ritual sequences, material objects, and patterns of participation. The finding showed that “ngantukang ajang” is a process which semiotically redistributes ritual entitlements (rice and “sesari”, a monetary offerings) received by the former “kelihan subak” (the head of water distribution). Three stages were done namely “matur piuning”, “ngeragaang”, and the peak ceremony. It reflects a transformation of social identity and detachment shown from reconfiguration of the deceased from an active socio-political leader into ancestral presence. The semiotic resources form a non-verbal discourse communicating principles of reciprocity, and obligation.

Abstract

The use of land title certificates (Sertifikat Hak Milik/SHM) as collateral in Indonesian banking practices faces a significant legal and institutional gap due to the proliferation of counterfeit documents. This study investigates the normative inadequacies that fail to protect bona fide creditors from the consequences of forged SHM. Using a normative juridical method, this doctrinal legal research analyzes statutory instruments, case law, and legal doctrines, particularly Government Regulation No. 24/1997, Law No. 10/1998, and the Basic Agrarian Law. Findings reveal persistent structural weaknesses in certificate verification systems, institutional fragmentation, and a lack of preventive legal frameworks. The absence of electronic authentication mandates, strict liability for negligent PPATs or notaries, and civil protection for defrauded creditors underscores systemic risk. The study proposes a Unified Certificate Verification System (SVST), mandatory digital verification, blockchain-based registration, land title insurance, and legal reform to enforce due diligence and institutional accountability. It concludes that Indonesia’s current framework fails to ensure legal certainty and justice for financial institutions, and urgent structural reform is needed to enhance transparency, minimize transactional risks, and restore public trust in land-based financial transactions.

Abstract

This study examines the optimization of military defense in North Sulawesi as a supporting pillar for Indonesia’s new import gateway. Positioned strategically on the Pacific rim, North Sulawesi is expected to become a hub for imported goods to support national economic equalization. However, this import route shift also brings security challenges, including military and non-military threats such as smuggling, maritime crimes, and potential infiltration by terrorist groups. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method based on literature study, focusing on the analysis of naval and air defense strategies, modernization of main weapon systems (alutsista), and the enhancement of human resources within the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). The results indicate that strengthening defense infrastructure, including the addition of warships, patrol vessels, and modern fighter aircraft, is urgently needed to maintain regional stability. Furthermore, the application of the smart defense concept, integrating advanced technology with local community empowerment, can sustainably enhance maritime resilience. Investment in the defense sector has been shown to create a conducive climate for international trade, boost investor confidence, and strengthen Indonesia’s economic connectivity with the Asia-Pacific region. This study recommends synergy between the Ministry of Defense, TNI, and the national defense industry to accelerate the modernization and maintenance of alutsista, while ensuring the security of trade routes in North Sulawesi. With these measures, North Sulawesi can function optimally as a strategic import gateway that supports national economic growth and reinforces state defense

Abstract

Violence among prisoners remains a significant challenge in correctional institutions and raises serious concerns regarding the protection of human rights within custodial environments. Although Indonesia has enacted Law No. 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections to strengthen the protection of prisoners’ rights, incidents of inmate violence continue to reveal gaps between normative legal guarantees and practical implementation. This study examines how the Indonesian correctional legal framework regulates prisoners’ rights and evaluates the effectiveness of existing legal mechanisms in preventing violence within correctional institutions. The research employs a qualitative normative (doctrinal) legal approach through the analysis of constitutional provisions, statutory regulations, international human rights instruments, and legal doctrines governing correctional administration and prisoners’ rights. The findings indicate that Indonesian correctional law has incorporated human rights principles consistent with international standards, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the Nelson Mandela Rules. However, several regulatory limitations persist, particularly the absence of detailed operational standards under Law No. 22 of 2022 and its implementing regulations, inadequate provisions concerning risk-based inmate classification, conflict prevention mechanisms, institutional accountability, and weak coordination among supervisory institutions. These shortcomings limit the effective implementation of human rights protection in correctional practice. Strengthening prisoners’ rights protection therefore requires doctrinal and institutional reforms through clearer derivative regulations, stronger accountability frameworks, and enhanced coordination among oversight bodies. Such reforms would improve institutional security while ensuring that correctional institutions protect human dignity and uphold prisoners’ fundamental rights
