Abstract

English communication proficiency is a critical requirement for ensuring safety in international aviation operations. Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs) in Indonesia are required to meet the ICAO English Language Proficiency (IELP) Level 4 standard; however, the failure rate of the IELP Test at the Jakarta Air Traffic Service Centre (JATSC) remains relatively high. This study aims to analyze the influence of internal factors on IELP test failure among ATCs at JATSC. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected from 50 ATCs selected through stratified random sampling based on work experience. Internal factors examined included basic English proficiency, motivation, language anxiety, self-confidence, learning style, and linguistic performance. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality testing, correlation analysis, and simple linear regression. The results indicate that internal factors have a significant influence on IELP test failure, with language anxiety, limited motivation, and insufficient linguistic performance emerging as dominant contributors. These findings suggest that internal psychological and cognitive aspects play a crucial role in determining IELP outcomes. The study concludes that targeted interventions focusing on strengthening internal factors are essential to improve IELP test success rates and enhance aviation communication safety at JATSC.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Short Term Conflict Alert (STCA) system on the conflict projection ability of Air Traffic Controllers (ATC) at the APP/TMA Jakarta Unit. The increasing air traffic volume by 19.6% between 2022 and 2025 has heightened operational complexity, emphasizing the need for effective decision-support systems. A quantitative research method was employed using a survey approach involving 105 active ATCs with at least two years of experience. The variables examined include Perception of STCA (X), Situational Awareness (SA), Workload Management (WM), Training and Experience (TE), and Conflict Projection Ability (Y). Data analysis consisted of validity, reliability, normality, Pearson correlation, and multiple linear regression tests. The results indicate that STCA has a positive and significant influence on conflict projection ability, with an Adjusted R² value of 0.80 and a multiple correlation coefficient (R) of 0.90. Among the predictors, SA and TE make the strongest contributions, while WM functions as a supporting factor. In conclusion, the integration of STCA technology and human performance factors plays a crucial role in enhancing safety and efficiency in air traffic control operations at APP/TMA Jakarta.

Abstract

The rapid increase in digital currencies including Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and decentralized cryptocurrencies has globally created new opportunities and challenges for monetary policy frameworks. This paper discusses the various effects of digital currency usage on the efficiency of monetary policy and analyzes the way these evolutions hamper or support the traditional transmission mechanisms of monetary policy, the change on the operational abilities of central banks, as well as the impact on financial stability. In terms of methodology, this study adopted desktop qualitative research methods. By means of a thorough review of the literature of the newest empirical and theoretical studies (2020, 2026), combined with a qualitative analysis of policy documents and case studies from the major economies, this study uncovers the most important ways through which digital currencies change the results of monetary policy. The evidence indicates that although CBDCs provide better policy transmission and financial inclusion possibilities, they at the same time bring about the risk of bank disintermediation and an increase in capital flow volatility. On the other hand, cryptocurrencies reveal the effects of these policies on effectiveness as being both positive and negative, in that an increasing use of them may lead to the weakening of traditional monetary aggregates while at the same time bringing new dimensions of financial innovation. By merging the latest findings from different fields, this paper adds a new perspective to the ongoing discussion concerning digital monetary systems. The paper also highlights the necessity of designing flexible regulatory frameworks that support innovation while also ensuring the overall stability of the system.

Abstract

Purpose – This article aims to examine the role of the Indonesian Air Force Health Service (Diskesau) in enhancing integrated air medical evacuation capabilities to support Military Operations Other Than War (MOOTW). The focus lies on strengthening doctrine, human resources, interoperable medical infrastructure, and civil–military collaboration to ensure rapid and effective humanitarian responses. Design/methodology/approach – This study employs a qualitative descriptive method using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Relevant scientific literature and regulatory documents from 2018–2025 were collected from Scopus, Springer, ScienceDirect, Garuda, and ResearchGate. Twenty-nine primary sources were analyzed through thematic coding and triangulation to ensure reliability and validity. Findings – The study shows that: (1) Diskesau’s aeromedical evacuation doctrine is central to bridging military readiness and humanitarian operations, though it requires modernization and standardization (Frassini & Kral, 2022; NATO, 2021); (2) capability enhancement is strongly influenced by specialized training in aeromedicine, disaster medicine, and interoperability exercises with civilian agencies (Bulger et al., 2025; Sitorus & Wulandari, 2024); (3) modernization of air platforms such as C-130 Hercules, CN-295, and rotary-wing assets enables airborne intensive care units (AICU), though challenges remain in maintenance and spectrum of use (Ely et al., 2024; Roussignol et al., 2024); (4) civil–military cooperation with BNPB, Basarnas, and the Ministry of Health is essential for joint operations in disaster and crisis scenarios (WHO, 2023; PAHO, 2025). Practical implications – The effectiveness of air medical evacuation in MOOTW can be improved through the development of standardized aeromedical evacuation modules, regular joint exercises, digital integration with national health information systems, and quantitative performance metrics to evaluate readiness and response time (Peksa & Krüger, 2023; Risko et al., 2023). Originality/value – This article contributes by integrating doctrinal, technological, medical, and organizational perspectives into a unified framework for air medical evacuation. It strengthens the role of Diskesau in bridging military health operations with national disaster response, thereby enhancing Indonesia’s defense diplomacy and humanitarian credibility at both national and international levels Gates (2022).

Abstract

The Dayak people are known for their highly valued traditions, as well as their strong sense of mutual cooperation and brotherhood among their members. The Dayak people, as the indigenous people of Kalimantan Island, have many sub-tribes, one of which is the Ngaju Dayak. This article explains a tradition or traditional ceremony carried out by the Ngaju Dayak people in East Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan. The Ngaju Dayak people have a tradition called Tiwah. This tradition is interesting to study because it is a very important intangible heritage for the Ngaju Dayak people and must be passed down to the younger generation. It is a tradition that has noble values and is still carried out without diminishing its traditional values amidst the onslaught of modernization today. This research uses a historical research method. The research process consists of five stages: topic determination, heuristics or source collection, source verification or criticism, interpretation, and finally, historiography or historical writing. Data analysis and reconstruction revealed that the Tiwah tradition is a traditional ceremony of the Ngaju Dayak people, who adhere to the Kaharingan Hindu faith. This sacred ceremony is intended to send the spirits of deceased ancestors to Heaven/Lewu Tatau (the Kaharingan Hindu heaven). This traditional ceremony requires considerable expense, effort, and time, so it is held annually and is performed collaboratively by the Ngaju Dayak community. This tradition holds noble values and serves as a symbol of respect for deceased generations, community unity, and a strong sense of family.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is a growing social problem closely related to the socialization process within the family. Parenting styles, as agents of primary social control, play a crucial role in shaping adolescents' character, discipline, and self-control. This paper aims to analyze the influence of authoritarian and permissive parenting styles on juvenile delinquency based on a criminological perspective. This study employed a qualitative literature review, synthesizing various scientific journals and relevant references that discuss parenting styles and delinquent behavior. The study's findings indicate that authoritarian parenting has an ambivalent relationship with juvenile delinquency. High levels of control can suppress overt delinquency in the short term, but can potentially lead to emotional tension and hidden deviant behavior if not accompanied by warmth. Conversely, permissive parenting is more consistently correlated with increased juvenile delinquency due to weak boundaries and supervision, which result in low self-control and strong peer group influence. From a criminological perspective, these findings can be explained through social control theory, differential association theory, and strain theory, which emphasize the importance of social bonds, behavioral learning processes, and social pressure in the emergence of deviance. Thus, the balance between control and warmth in parenting is a key factor in preventing juvenile delinquency. This paper emphasizes that strengthening the family's function as an agent of informal social control is an essential preventive strategy in addressing juvenile delinquency.

Abstract

Learners who experience barriers to learning continue to face challenges in accessing and fully participating in education, despite inclusive education policies in South Africa. This study aimed to explore how teachers at a primary school support learners with barriers to learning, with particular focus on accommodating learner diversity and promoting equitable access to education. The study was underpinned by an interpretivist paradigm and employed a qualitative research approach with a case study design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis. The sample comprised ten participants, including four teachers, four members of the school-Based Support Team (SBST), and two District-Based Support Team (DBST) officials from the Mopani West District, Makhutswe Circuit, Limpopo Province, South Africa. Data were analysed using thematic analysis. The findings revealed that teachers employed adaptive teaching strategies, curriculum differentiation, and collaborative support structures to address learner diversity. However, persistent challenges such as overcrowded classrooms, limited resources, and insufficient assistive technologies constrained effective implementation. The study concludes that while teachers, SBSTs, and DBSTs play a critical role in advancing inclusive education, systemic and resource-related barriers hinder optimal practice. It is recommended that stakeholder collaboration be strengthened, targeted professional development be enhanced, and inclusive education policies be more effectively implemented to support learners with barriers to learning.

Abstract

The rapid development of social media has transformed patterns of social interaction among urban youth while simultaneously creating new opportunities for cybercrime. Social media functions not only as a communication platform but also as a digital environment where values, behaviors, and social identities are constructed. This study aims to analyze the influence of social media on cybercrime patterns among urban Indonesian youth through a qualitative criminological approach. The research employs a qualitative method with descriptive-analytical specifications using a literature-based approach. Data were collected from academic journals, books, research reports, and relevant legal documents and analyzed through qualitative content analysis. The findings reveal that social media significantly contributes to the emergence of cybercrime patterns among urban youth, particularly in the forms of cyberbullying, hate speech, online fraud using fake accounts, dissemination of personal data, and basic hacking activities. The study also identifies three major criminogenic factors underlying cybercrime involvement: individual factors, including low digital literacy, weak self-control, and the need for social recognition; social factors, including limited parental supervision, inadequate digital education, and strong peer-group influence; and structural factors, including widespread internet access, weak perceptions of law enforcement effectiveness, and the anonymity provided by digital platforms. Furthermore, the findings indicate that many young people engage in cybercrime not primarily for economic gain but due to curiosity, experimentation, online popularity, and peer pressure. Social media also facilitates the formation of online subcultures that normalize and reinforce deviant behavior through continuous interaction and social validation. This study concludes that cybercrime among urban Indonesian youth is a multidimensional phenomenon resulting from the interaction of individual, social, and structural factors within digital environments. Therefore, effective prevention requires integrated strategies involving digital literacy enhancement, family and school-based social control, ethical digital education, and adaptive cybercrime policies that respond to technological developments.
