Abstract

This study aims to analyze and map the distribution of cognitive representations of Low Order Thinking Skills (LOTS), Middle Order Thinking Skills (MOTS), and High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in the Madrasah Examination (UM) instruments for Akidah Akhlak subject in the 2025/2026 academic year at MA Manba'ul Ulum Kabul. A descriptive quantitative approach with content analysis method was employed. The research subject comprised the master document of blueprints and test items of the Akidah Akhlak examination, gathering a total of 45 items consisting of 40 multiple-choice questions and 5 essays. The data analysis instrument utilized a codification sheet based on the revised Bloom's Taxonomy matrix (Anderson Krathwohl). The results revealed that the cognitive level distribution included the LOTS domain (Level 1) at 24.44% (11 items), the MOTS domain (Level 2) as the dominant content at 53.33% (24 items), and the HOTS domain (Level 3) at 22.23% (10 items). This empirical data formulation clarifies an empirical research gap in the form of a slight codification mismatch between the teacher's initial document (12 LOTS, 23 MOTS, 10 HOTS) and the researcher's objective verification, which yields a more precise new composition, while simultaneously proving that the construction of the evaluation instrument still meets the ideal proportion standards and aligns with the government curriculum mandate in KMA Number 183 of 2019.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) determine the use of the demonstration method among seventh-grade students at SMPIT Al Madinah Nogosari, Boyolali Regency, in the 2025/2026 academic year; (2) determine the students’ level of understanding of the Fiqh subject; and (3) analyze the effect of the demonstration method on students’ understanding of Fiqh. This study employed a quantitative approach using descriptive and inferential data analysis. The research population consisted of all 86 seventh-grade students at SMPIT Al Madinah Nogosari. Since the population was relatively manageable, the entire population was selected as the research sample. Data were collected using questionnaires, supported by classroom observations. The results showed that the use of the demonstration method was categorized as high, with an average score of 87.2. Students’ understanding of the Fiqh subject was also categorized as good, with an average score of 85.0. The demonstration method was primarily used in teaching topics such as thaharah (ritual purification), wudu (ablution), tayammum (dry ablution), and prayer, enabling students to understand the material more concretely and practically. The t-test results showed that the calculated t-value was 5.407, which was greater than the critical t-value of 1.663. Therefore, there was a significant effect of the demonstration method on students’ understanding of Fiqh. These findings indicate that the demonstration method can serve as an effective alternative instructional approach for improving students’ understanding of Fiqh.

Abstract

Learning the makharij al-huruf is an important aspect of improving the accuracy of Qur’anic recitation because mispronunciation of hijaiyah letters can affect sound clarity and, in some cases, the meaning of the recitation. However, learning the makharij al-huruf at Qur’anic Education Centers (TPQ) still faces various challenges. Some students at TPQ Nurul Anwar who have reached the Qur’an-reading level continue to experience difficulties in pronouncing hijaiyah letters and understanding their articulation points. This study aims to describe the implementation of the talaqqi method assisted by visual media in learning the makharij al-huruf of hijaiyah and to examine its implications for the accuracy of hijaiyah pronunciation among students at TPQ Nurul Anwar, Larangan Utara. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through participatory observation and interviews. The research subjects consisted of 11 Qur’an-level students who were observed during the learning process, seven students who served as interview informants, and one teaching colleague. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification, while data credibility was strengthened through member checking and source triangulation. The results showed that learning was implemented through the stages of apperception, material delivery using visual media, teacher pronunciation demonstrations through the talaqqi method, collective and individual pronunciation exercises, and individual Qur’an recitation sessions accompanied by direct correction. The study indicates that integrating the talaqqi method with visual media has the potential to support the quality of makharij al-huruf learning at TPQ, as reflected in students’ reported understanding of articulation points, their ability to distinguish letters with similar sounds and indications of better pronunciation accuracy for most hijaiyah letters. However, some students continued to experience difficulty pronouncing certain letters, indicating the need for continuous practice and habituation. Thus, the integration of the talaqqi method with visual media can serve as an alternative approach to supporting makharij al-huruf learning at Qur’anic Education Centers.

Abstract

Digital transformation in education requires Islamic Religious Education (IRE) to go beyond the delivery of religious knowledge by fostering students’ spiritual engagement and their ability to access, evaluate, and responsibly use religious information in digital environments. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a Metaverse-Based Islamic Learning Environment in enhancing students’ spiritual engagement and religious digital literacy at SMP Negeri 35 Medan. The study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The participants were students of SMP Negeri 35 Medan who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received Islamic Religious Education through a metaverse-based learning environment designed with virtual Islamic spaces, learning simulations, exploratory activities, collaborative discussions, interactive quizzes, digital religious source verification, and spiritual reflection. Meanwhile, the control group participated in Islamic Religious Education using regular instructional approaches. Data were collected using a spiritual engagement scale and a religious digital literacy instrument. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, instrument validity and reliability testing, normality testing, homogeneity testing, paired-sample t-tests, independent-sample t-tests, and effect-size calculations. The findings are expected to determine the extent to which the metaverse-based learning environment can enhance students’ spiritual engagement and religious digital literacy compared with regular instruction. This study is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic Religious Education that is immersive, reflective, critical, and adaptive to the digital ecosystem.

Abstract

This study aims to synthesize the theory and practice of religious character education in elementary schools by examining the latest empirical evidence regarding the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in shaping students' honesty, tolerance, and discipline. The method used is a systematic literature review of relevant articles/journals discussing strategies for religious habituation, teacher role models, integration of value-based curriculum, active learning approaches, internalization of monotheism, and the sustainable tarbiyah model. The results of the synthesis indicate a strong consensus: the formation of religiosity is effective when positioned as a value ecosystem that unites three pillars: (1) habituation, (2) integration across subjects and school policies, and (3) reflection. This study formulates the PIR Model (Habituation–Integration–Reflection) as a replicable and context-sensitive operational framework for developing key character profiles. Practical implications include strengthening the role of teachers as good role models, training in facilitating value dialogue, family–community involvement, and standardization of character indicators and portfolios. The main limitation lies in the variation in school contexts and facility support, so local adaptation is necessary. Overall, this study confirms that strong religiosity arises from system coherence, not just sermons, and can be measured through sustained changes in prosocial behavior.

Abstract

Students’ ability to memorize the Qur’an still faces challenges due to the limitations of conventional teaching methods and media, making it necessary to develop more interactive alternative media. This study aims to develop the Maqdis application and test its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving the memorization skills of 11th-grade students regarding Surah Al-Mu’minun, verses 12–14. The study employed the Research and Development (RD) method with a one-group pretest–posttest design, involving 21 students. Data on practicality were obtained through a student response questionnaire, while effectiveness was analyzed using pretest–posttest results and the N-Gain measure. The results indicate that the Maqdis app is valid according to experts, highly practical with an 85% student response rate, and effective in improving memorization, with average scores rising from 50 to 88 and an N-Gain of 0.76 (high category). The integration of audio, verse content, video, and memorization features into a single app fosters a more meaningful memorization process. It can be concluded that the Maqdis app is suitable for use as a learning medium for the Qur’an and Hadith because it meets the criteria of being valid, practical, and effective in improving students’ memorization skills. This app can serve as an alternative solution for teachers to address the limitations of existing Qur’an memorization methods and media in schools.

Abstract

The rapid expansion of digital technologies has transformed students’ social interactions and learning environments, while simultaneously generating ethical challenges such as cyberbullying, misinformation, and irresponsible online behavior. In this context, Islamic Religious Education (IRE) plays a strategic role in cultivating students’ moral awareness by integrating Islamic ethical values (akhlak). This study aims to conceptually reconstruct the integration of Islamic moral values into IRE to strengthen students’ digital ethics. This research employs a qualitative library-based approach grounded in philosophical-normative and conceptual analysis. Data sources include the Qur’an, Hadith, classical Islamic ethical literature, and contemporary studies on Islamic education and digital ethics. Data were analyzed using content analysis and conceptual synthesis to develop an integrative framework. The findings reveal that strengthening digital ethics can be operationalized through three core principles: value internalization, exemplary conduct (uswah), and ethical habituation, supported by contextual and reflective pedagogical approaches. This study contributes a conceptual framework for character-based digital ethics education, offering theoretical grounding for curriculum development and pedagogical innovation in the digital era.
