Abstract

Indonesia government has launched a program to encourage youth entrepreneurship as a strategy to improve national economy. This paper proposes a method to find an entrepreneurial potential based on academic behavior features that are extracted from the Higher Education Database PDDikti. The proposed approach applies the Fuzzy Multi-Attribute Decision Making (FMADM) technique. Rules for extracting features of student academic behavior were following Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and resulting in 14 features. The FMADM model combines Fuzzy Simple Additive Weighting and Fuzzy Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution, which is called FSAW-TOPSIS. Friedman Test demonstrated that FSAW-TOPSIS gives more optimal solution with the highest Mean Rank of the potential entrepreneurial value of 2.96. Besides, through Hamming Distance Test, FSAW-TOPSIS results the best order with a 98% percentage and ranking of the smallest Squared Error of 0.3%, which makes the proposed model offered a better solution. It can be concluded that using TPB variables in PDDikti environment with FSAW-TOPSIS technique provides an optimal recommendation on student entrepreneurship potential, which can be used as a part of a decision-making system for higher education management.

Abstract

Along with the rapid development of technology, many techniques have been employed to improve filter performance by using microstrip, one of them is using a Defected Ground Structure (DGS) technique. The DGS is a technique implemented by combining various forms of slot on the ground-plane of filter. This paper presents an ultra wideband (UWB) filter designed using DGS technique by combining two kind of slots on the ground plane, i.e., rectangular slot and rectangular ring slot. The design of composed filter is initialized using filter without DGS, then by adding two kinds of DGS on the ground plane. The DGS is used to improve S-parameter values and increase bandwidth. The method of filter design is using several parametric studies, such as changing the length of patch, width of patch, number of rectangular slot, length of rectangular slot, width of rectangular slot, and gap in rectangular ring slot. This filter is fabricated on a FR4 epoxy dielectric substrate with the thickness of 0.8 mm and the size of 27.4 mm x 22 mm. The measurement result shows that the filter could produce the working bandwidth of 4.01 GHz in the frequency range from 1.52 GHz to 5.53 GHz.

Abstract

In this paper, a bandwidth enhancement technique for Substrate Integrated Waveguide(SIW) antenna is attempted using Defected Ground Structure(DGS)by modifying the shape and geometry of the slot on the ground plane. In order to achieve wide bandwidth response of the antenna, a rectangular split ring incorporated with across shapes lots are employed as DGS. The quality factor (Q) of antenna increases as the substrate thickness decreases, which leads to narrow down bandwidth response of the SIW antenna. Therefore, the SIW antenna is simulated using multiple layers of FR4epoxydielectric substrate in overcoming the problem. The SIW antenna has a dimension of 171 mm×160.5mm, 4.905mm-height,and is intended to work at the center frequency of 2 GHz. Furthermore, the SIW antenna is excited by proximity coupling method which is connected to a 50Ω connector. Simulation result shows that the 575 MHz bandwidth could be achieved by the antenna with the proposed technique, in which the -10dB bandwidth response is ranged from the frequency of 1.675 GHz –2.25 GHz and the maximum gain is6.03 dBi at the frequency of 1.85 GHz,with bidirectional radiation pattern.

Abstract

The evolution of communication network comes from the need for users to stay connected anytime and anywhere. Modernization of the network continues to be done to increase bandwidth capacity in order to obtain an increase in multimedia services, especially in urban areas. Of various transmission media, optical fiber is the best choice to support reliable communication networks. One of the optical fiber communication technologies is Fiber to the Home (FTTH). This study proposes FTTH network design with Gigabit Capable Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology aimed at housing in urban areas. The design uses aerial and duct-aerial cabling sy stems. The design analysis is carried out based on the parameters of the link power budget, rise time, Bit Error Rate (BER), components and costs required. The value of the power budget link for the uplink and downlink are -22.792 dBm and -23.120 dBm. The rise time value for uplink and downlink are 0.256 ns and 0.258 ns, while the BER value is 14.628 x 10-12. The calculation results show that the design meets the required parameters, hence, the proposed network can be implemented. For the cost components required by the aerial system, it is 11.56% less than of the duct-aerial sistem.

Abstract

In the last decade, planar electromagnetic (EM) wave absorbers began to be widely studied. This type of EM wave absorber is thin, flexible, and easy to fabricate, which allows absorber to be used in new future applications. Split Ring Resonators (SRR) are one of many forms of absorber that is known to have an excellent absorbance performance. In this paper, square patch absorber, Axial Symmetric SRR (AS-SRR), and Axially Asymmetric SRR (AAS-SRR) are designed and observed in C-Band. From the simulation results, we obtained a square cell size of 30 mm, AS-SRR of 20 mm, and AAS-SRR of 18 mm. The three forms can reach absorption rates above 92%, with a bandwidth of 0.055 GHz, 0.076 GHz, and 0.081 GHz, respectively. Furthermore, the AAS-SRR design parameters were characterized, and the main parameters that influence the bandwidth and resonant frequency are the resonator length and resonator thickness. The maximum bandwidth of the characterization is 0.087 GHz.

Abstract

Loss of synchronization causes a generator not in steady state condition, causing system instability. In this paper, Nyquist method is used to determine the transient stability of a synchronous generator using the Nyquist curve. The system is unstable if the G(jω) curve is further away from the point -1 + j0, while the gain margin value is below 6 dB and the phase margin has a value below 30°. The response of the system shows that the rotor angle oscillation on the generator is not synchronous, while the power angle experiences irregular transients so that the power angle increases until it cannot return to its steady state position. By using the Static Series Synchronous Compensator (SSSC) filter, the rotor angle oscillation response after 0.1 seconds begins to stabilize at an angle of 50°. The effect of the SSSC filter also affects the bus voltage oscillations from 0.15 seconds to 0.05 seconds and the real power oscillations from 0.13 seconds to 0.06 seconds.

Abstract

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), especially fixed wing, are widely used to carry out various missions, namely civil and military missions. To support the implementation of this mission, it is necessary to develop an intelligent automatic control system (autopilot). In this paper, an autopilot system with adaptive neuro fuzzy PID control is developed to control lateral (pitch) and longitudinal (roll) motion, by taking advantage of PID, fuzzy, and neural network control. Therefore, robust controls which can handle non-linear conditions can be formed. This paper aims to determine the performance of adaptive control of neuro fuzzy PID controllers for longitudinal and lateral motion on UAV. The result shows that adaptive control of neuro fuzzy PID are able to control the lateral and longitudinal motion of the aircraft and able to compensate for interferences from environmental disturbances in flying condition, such as changes in direction and wind speed that causes changes in aircraft attitude. The control characteristics of neuro fuzzy PID adaptive control in lateral and longitudinal motion are relatively similar. Adaptive control of neuro fuzzy PID has better performance than fuzzy PID control, i.e., faster settling time and lower percentage of maximum overshoot.

Abstract

Monitoring of Fetal Heart Rate (FHR) in the pregnancy period commonly uses the Doppler-based instruments despite having several disadvantages, such as high-cost and complexity of the monitoring system. Implementation of the passive and non-invasive method based on fetal phonocardiogram (fPCG), the acoustic recording of fetus cardiac signal, can be used as a potentially economical long-term monitoring device for diagnosis. Because the interference signal from the maternal women exists, the matured denoising technique was needed to implement the fPCG method to diagnose the fetus' well-being condition. The denoising system based on Dual-tree Complex Wavelet Transforms (DTCWT) was proposed in this paper. The proposed method was evaluated using Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR). Based on the experiment result from 37 fPCG signals from physio.net, the DTCWT system performance was compared with the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT). There were 24 CWT’s denoised fPCG signals that have successfully outperformed DWT’s SNR. DTCWT has also reduced the noises in the range of 30 Hz–80 Hz. Also, it emphasized the existence of dominant frequencies in the range of 60 Hz–65 Hz.

Abstract

Determination of implicit aspects is one of the important things in opinion sentences. This study proposes a new approach for developing rule-based knowledge by forming a relation between opinion words with aspect categories. The relationship is obtained from the combination of rules, based on Opinion Word Similarity (OWS). Evaluation for rule-based knowledge extraction is in the form of threshold values of frequency and confidence to produce the best precision, recall, and f-measure values. The knowledge extraction consists of two phases: training phase and testing phase. The training phase is described as the process to extract rule-based knowledge. The testing phase is described as the process to obtain the implicit aspects of opinion sentences by referring to rule-based knowledge. To extract rule-based knowledge on user reviews, it is necessary to identify opinion sentences with explicit aspects and get pairs of aspects and words of opinion with rules generated from regular expressions. The evaluation result of rule-based knowledge with confidence using OWS showed better results compared to rule-based knowledge without using OWS. By using OWS, precision value increased by 0.25%, recall value increased by 1.15%, and precision value increased by 0.83%.

Abstract

This paper discusses the design and realization of circularly polarized array antenna using Dolph Tschebycheff power distribution. The advantages of implementing circular polarization yield the array antenna suitable for outdoor communication system and can minimize the Faraday effect. The Dolph Tschebycheff power distribution is used to suppress the side lobe of array antenna. The proposed array antenna, which is intended to operate at the frequency of 5.3 GHz, consists of five square patch elements with seven diagonal slots upon each element to enhance the bandwidth and to produce the circular polarization. The array antenna is designed and realized using two layers of FR-4 epoxy dielectric substrate with the dimension of 119 mm × 44.1 mm and the thickness of 0.8 mm for each dielectric substrate. Each patch element is fed using a proximity coupling technique excited through a 50 Ω SMA connector. The measurement results show the bandwidth of 720 MHz, the side lobe level of 12.39 dB, the gain of more than 6 dBi around the frequency of 5.3 GHz, and the 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth of 200 MHz. It seems that the realized array antenna could produce wide bandwidth, low side lobe level, and circular polarization, so that it is suitable for WLAN application.
