Abstract

Observing the behavior and character of children today, many parents are worried about their child's development. Educational observers convey the necessity of character education from an early age to instill in them with morality and noble character. Having a strong character and quality, young generation will become an ethical, tough, and superior generation. Various efforts were made to provide character education to children. One of them is to train the level of confidence of children by inviting them to speak and express opinions in the form of text/chat. In order to help that, a chat app that can help kids to tell stories in the form of text/chat was built, so the kids accustom to expressing opinions and confidently talk to others and happy to hear it. The character education raised in this application is to increase the confidence level of the child. The topics raised as conversation on the Si Tole app are about friendship, joy (food, books, movies), recreation, birthday parties, hopes, and dreams. By practicing to talk to Si Tole Chatterbot, it is expected that children's character development will be better. This application is suitable to be a medium of character education for adolescents (Primary School/Junior High School) to improve their confidence.

Abstract

Diabetes is one of the most serious diseases that commonly suffered by people around the world, including Indonesia. Early symptoms of diabetes could be observed from various indicators, one of which is through the retina. Retina conditions is affected by diabetics and when remain unproperly threated could lead to blindness. This retinal disorders due to diabetes is normally called Diabetic Retinopathy (DR). One method that able to distinguish and detect DR is microaneurysm detection. This method requires good quality of retinal images. However, in certain areas such as rural areas, this requirement may difficult to meet due to lack of adequate infrastructure. One solution that may overcome this problem is to compress the images. In this paper, image compression algorithms were applied to the retinal image, and then used to detect microaneuryms through Deep Learning-based systems. The result shows that the most stable and appropriate algorithm is PNG, which is able to correctly classify around 83% in accuracy with 5,5% variance.

Abstract

This paper describes the process to obtain a mathematical model of a wall following robot. A mathematical modeling is carried out as an effort in determining Proportional, Integral, and Derivative (PID) controller parameters using analytic tuning. In this paper, the model approach used is Auto Regressive Exogenous (ARX). The ARX model is a model used to show the effect of control and disturbance on the output of the plant. The result of this research is a mathematical model of wall following robot which is then used to obtain PID controller parameters.

Abstract

DC motor speed control is an example of plant where its feedback sensor is susceptible to noise. There are also some nonlinearities in DC motor due to changing in its internal components, white noise, driver problem, and direct external disturbances to controller signal. In this paper, Sliding Mode Control (SMC) was employed to overcome several disturbances in DC motor by localizing all states in sliding mode mechanism. Firstly, since internal components are unknown, system identification of DC motor was conducted to derive transfer function of the plant. The model was then used to design SMC by limiting amplitude of disturbances. To guarantee all states move to operating point (0,0), first order sliding surface equation and Lyapunov stability analysis were employed. The results showed that SMC could follow set point with no overshoot, rise time is 8.7 second, and error steady state is 0.009. Disturbances, represented by random signal (0.3, 0.5, and 1 times of maximum disturbance limit), were applied to check the robustness of the SMC. The result showed that SMC could still maintain the response around set point. Verification experiment was also conducted by adding disturbances which are out of maximum amplitude limit (3, 5, and 8 times of maximum amplitude limit). When 3 and 5 times of maximum amplitude limit disturbances were added, although there were oscillations, SMC could still maintain response around set point (marginally stable). It started to become unstable when 8 times of maximum amplitude limit disturbance was applied.

Abstract

Process of maintaining hydroponic wick system manually requires extra energy, especially during the cherry tomato plant breeding season. Parameters, including pH value, Electrical Conductivity (EC) nutrient solution, room temperature, and humidity are needed to be considered to produce superior seeds. In this study, room temperature and humidity, pH value, and EC content in nutrient solution were controlled. The PID and on/off controller were employed in the examination plant. The PID was applied to control room temperature. On the other hand, the on/off was applied to control room humidity, pH, and EC value. PID parameters were set to Kp = 3, Ki = 2, and Kd = 10. As a result, the system produced rise time of 60 minutes, overshoot of 1.17%, and settling time of 57.5 minutes. At the same time, the on/off controller was able to settle the humidity from 61% to 80% within 150 seconds. Moreover, reduction of the pH value from 6.9 to 5.34 can be reached within 12.8 minutes. The study of the EC showed that the longer for the water valve to open, the longer it takes to reach the set point. The study also showed that the rate of cherry tomato plant height is 2.675 cm/week utilizing both of the PID and the on/off controller, while it can only reach 0.2 cm/week without controller. Furthermore, examination on the leaf numbers per week showed that the leaf grew 2 sheets per week when both controllers were applied, while it grew no sheet without controller.

Abstract

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone, could be utilized to detect a moving object in real-time. However, there are some issues in detection process of moving object in UAV, called constraint uncertainty factor (UCF), such as environment, type of object, illumination, camera of UAV, and motion. One of practical problems that become concern of researcher in the past few years is motion analysis. Motion of an object in each frame carries a lot of information about the pixels of moving objects which has an important role as the image descriptor. In this paper, segmentation using edgebased dilation (SUED) algorithm is used to detect moving objects. The concept of the SUED algorithm is combining frame difference and segmentation process to obtain optimal results. The simulation results show the performance improvement of SUED algorithm using combination of wavelet and Sobel operator on edge detection: the number of frames for a true positive increased by 41 frames, then the false alarm rate decreased to 7% from 24% when only using Sobel operator. The combination of these two methods can also minimize noise region that affect detection and tracking process. The simulation results for tracking moving objects by Kalman filter show that there is decreasing of error between detection and tracking process.

Abstract

There are two gait parameters on FES used as feedback, namely gait phase and lower limb joint angles. Problems arise when the patient's motion is limited and the psychological factors of the patient are impaired due to the installation of sensors and the complicated wiring connected between the patient and the computer. This can hamper the rehabilitation process, thus a wearable and comfortable sensor system is required. This paper develops a measurement system of two gait parameters that are wearable and comfortable. The system is capable of accurately measuring two gait parameters, which are the lower limb joint angles of hip, knee, and ankle, using inertial sensors: accelerometers and gyroscopes, and gait phase parameter using Force Sensing Resistors (FSRs). The equations of the lower limb joint angles are also derived based on the acceleration vector of the accelerometer. Kalman filters are used to estimate the tilt angle of each lower limb segment based on the inertial sensor output. All processes are performed in real time by a 16-bit microcontroller, dsPIC4013. Measurement data is sent to the PC as a viewer and data storage wirelessly via Bluetooth module. In the test of dynamic subject, the gait parameters have been measured accurately. The required time to process and send all filtered sensor data is only 4.7 ms out of 10ms in maximum time sampling. This system can be further developed into wearable FES closed-loop system for gait restoration, with the addition of stimulus generator circuit and algorithm.

Abstract

Electronic map is one of the learning media developed for the blind. The media can fulfill the blind needs in acquiring knowledge. This study aims to develop electronic map as learning media for the blind. On this electronic map, the TCS3200 color sensor was used to recognize embossed maps that have been given different colors. Each color had different RGB frequencies and values. NI MyRio-1900 served as an interface that integrated personal computer as a human machine interface with sensors. Through NI MyRio-1900, personal computer can find out the responses generated by the sensor in matching colors, acquire the period, duty cycle, total frequency, and frequency graph, and can sort the information to be conveyed to the blind. Information about the area whose color was read by the sensor would be delivered through a loudspeaker. From the tests performed, it appeared that the TCS3200 color sensor was able to detect 28 color areas on the map correctly, with RGB sensor values were slightly different from the RGB values in the literature. Malang, for example, was light green, had a frequency value of each R = 345, G = 226, and B = 117, which was converted to obtain the RGB sensor value of R = 140, G = 194, B = 64, with period value of 0.00001715 s, 52.2145% duty cycle, and voice issued in the form of information and potential in the area of Malang.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop Piconet Pervasive system from previous research that analyzed security system and optimized system performance of video streaming rate data transmission over Bluetooth Piconet Pervasive network, using Symbian OS on the client side. This research was still running on client side Symbian platform by using point-topoint topology. Based on previous research, in this study, Piconet pervasive system is developed. The system runs on Android and Symbian operating system on the client side, using point-tomultipoint topology. This research is a quantitative research with experimental method. Data analysis is carried out using descriptive statistics method. In this paper, a piconet pervasive system that meets Cisco standard from previous research is developed, by optimizing server-side and Bluetooth device on client-side, where the result of packet loss meets Cisco standard. All average values of throughput, delay, jitter, and packet loss parameters are eligible for Cisco standard video streaming for 5 m and 10 m measurements, where packet loss is below 5%. The results show that the greater the interference of Wi-Fi on the Bluetooth Piconet Pervasive network, the quality of video received by the client (mobile phone) decreases, marked by the increasing value of average packet loss obtained during the video streaming.

Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), malignant tumor (cancer) is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Among all types of malignant tumors, malignant breast tumor (breast cancer) is the most common malignant tumors found, especially in women. One of four ways to distinguish benign breast tumor from malignant ones is by doing Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA) test. This method is simple, quick, inexpensive, and can be performed either in outpatients or inpatients. Although FNA is much more preferred than the other methods, the accuracy of FNA varies widely. Therefore, this research is conducted to find the best model to classify malignant breast tumors and benign breast tumors, based on data from FNA test by evaluating value of Area Under the Curve (AUC) of three algorithms, Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), Support Vector Machine with Radial Basic Function kernel (SVM-RBF), and Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP). The breast cancer data set used in this research is obtained from Wisconsin Breast Cancer (Original) Data set available in the UCI Machine Learning Repository. The experiment shows that SVM with eliminating missing value data set achieved the best result, with AUC value 99.23 and cost $2,740.20.
