Abstract

This study examines the relationship between gadget use and psychological well-being in adolescents through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The research focuses on four core aspects: the duration of screen time, the quality of digital interaction, the protective roles of social support and digital literacy, and the differential impacts of social media and video games on adolescent psychological well-being. Sixteen journal articles that met the inclusion criteria were systematically extracted from the Scopus database and synthesized using the PRISMA protocol to ensure methodological rigor, transparency, and replicability. The results indicate that screen time has a dynamic and non-linear association with psychological well-being. While excessive and uncontrolled usage is associated with heightened risks of anxiety, depression, and reduced life satisfaction, moderate use accompanied by meaningful digital engagement contributes positively to emotional resilience, self-regulation, and social connectedness. Furthermore, protective factors—particularly family support, peer relationships, and digital literacy—were found to mediate and moderate the effects of digital interaction, transforming potentially negative outcomes into opportunities for psychological growth. The findings also reveal distinct impacts across digital platforms: social media is closely related to identity formation and social validation, while video games are linked to cognitive engagement and recreational coping. This review introduces an integrative conceptual model that positions digital interaction not solely as a risk factor, but as a dual pathway with both adaptive and maladaptive outcomes depending on the presence of moderating variables. These findings contribute to theoretical advancements in digital well-being and offer practical guidance for the development of culturally responsive interventions in educational and family settings.

Abstract

Creativity is a crucial skill for adapting to the demands of the modern world, and early experiences may play a vital role in its development. This study investigated the relationship between childhood fantasy play and creativity in early adulthood, as well as the moderating role of perceived parenting styles. A non-experimental quantitative design was employed using purposive sampling. Participants were 387 individuals aged 18 to 25 who had lived with their parents between the ages of 2 and 7. Data were collected through an online questionnaire and analyzed using Jeffrey’s Amazing Statistics Program (JASP). Results revealed a significant positive correlation between childhood fantasy play and adult creativity (r = 0.413, p < 0.001). However, perceived parenting styles, both paternal and maternal, did not significantly moderate this relationship. These findings indicate that engaging in imaginative play during childhood contributes meaningfully to creativity in adulthood, and this influence remains consistent regardless of how parenting is later recalled. The study adds to the understanding of how early life experiences shape long-term personal development.

Abstract

Abusive supervision can have a negative impact on employee welfare and performance. Unfortunately, there are still very few questionnaires available that can measure abusive supervision in a standardized and psychometrically tested Indonesian language version. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to adapt and test the validity and reliability of the abusive supervision measurement tool in Indonesian. The population in this study consisted of 1,280 cigarette production workers, with the sample calculated using the Slovin formula at a 5% error rate, resulting in a minimum of 304 respondents. In this study, the researchers successfully involved 486 participants as research subjects using purposive sampling. The analysis used in this study was confirmatory factor analysis to test whether the data obtained by the researchers was in accordance with the predetermined measurement model in order to test the construct validity of the measurement tool. The results of this study indicate that the fit index parameters have been met (GFI = 0.984, RMSEA = 0.054, SRMR = 0.029, NFI = 0.961, CFI = 0.976, & TLI = 0.967). The reliability test results using the ω coefficient (0.892) and α coefficient (0.884) show excellent results. However, one dimension of abusive supervision, namely credit stealing, has a reliability value (ω = 0.110 & α = 0.111) and validity (AVE = 0.292) that are less than ideal. The implication of this study is the availability of an Indonesian version of the abusive supervision measurement tool that can be used to assess the harsh behavior of supervisors in the Indonesian work context. The suggestion for future researchers is that it is very necessary to further develop and test the items in the credit stealing dimension.

Abstract

Pharmacy students experience substantial stress due to demanding academic requirements, competitive educational environments, and challenges associated with transitioning into professional roles, which may negatively affect their quality of life. This systematic review aims to examine the relationship between perceived stress and quality of life among pharmacy students and to identify key stress determinants influencing their well-being. Eligible studies focused on pharmacy students, used validated instruments to measure perceived stress and quality of life, and were published between 2020 and 2024. A total of 1,040 records were identified through database searching, of which 12 studies met the inclusion criteria after screening. Two additional studies were identified through manual searching, resulting in 14 studies included in the review. The findings indicate that academic workload, financial pressure, limited social support, and concerns about transitioning into professional practice are the main contributors to perceived stress, which in turn negatively impacts students’ quality of life. Commonly used assessment tools included the Perceived Stress Scale and the Short Form-12 Health Questionnaire. This review highlights the significant impact of perceived stress on the quality of life of pharmacy students and underscores the need for targeted stress management interventions to support their well-being.

Abstract

A The aim of this study is to determine the effect of family support as a mediating variable in the relationship between perceived organizational support and work engagement among female workers in the textile industry. The research hypothesis states that perceived organizational support has a significant effect on work engagement with family support as a mediating variable. This study uses a quantitative approach with regression analysis and mediation testing using Hayes’ Process Model 4. Perceived organizational support was measured using the scale developed by Rhoades & Eisenberger (2002), which includes the dimensions of fairness, supervisor support, and organizational rewards and job conditions. Family support was measured using Friedman’s (2013) scale, which covers emotional, instrumental, informational, and appraisal support. Work engagement was measured using the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (2004), which consists of the dimensions vigor, dedication, and absorption. The results of the study show that perceived organizational support has a significant effect on work engagement both directly and indirectly through family support as a mediator. This indicates that family support significantly mediates the relationship between perceived organizational support and work engagement among female workers. This indicates that organizations need to strengthen perceived organizational support through women-friendly policies that promote balance between work and family roles. For female workers, it is important to build cooperative family relationships so that family support becomes more effective and positively contributes to their work engagement.

Abstract

Academic stress is a common challenge experienced by students and may affect their psychological well-being and coping strategies. This study aims to explore students’ experiences of academic stress and the coping strategies they employ to manage academic demands. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with participants selected using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis following Braun and Clarke’s framework. The findings revealed several sources of academic stress, including academic workload, performance expectations, and time management difficulties. In response to these stressors, students employed various coping strategies, such as problem-focused coping, emotion-focused coping, and religious coping. The results indicate that coping strategies play a crucial role in helping students manage academic stress and maintain psychological balance. This study contributes to the literature by providing an in-depth understanding of students’ subjective experiences of academic stress and coping, which may inform educational institutions in developing appropriate support programs.
