Abstract

This study aimed to describe the improvement of students' science process skills by implementing guided inquiry-based learning. The method in this study was pre-experiment with one group pretest posttest design. The subject in this study were 17 students of VII A class in SMP Negeri 2 Taman. The result of this study showed that the implementation of the guided inquiry-based learning was in the very good category, the N-Gain score obtained through the pretest and posttest of science process skills was in the high category, and the implementation of the guided inquiry-based learning obtained responses from students with a very good category. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the guided inquiry-based learning implementation can improve students' science process skills on heat.

Abstract

This study proposed to describe the implementation of learning, students’ responses, and learning outcomes in aspects of attitude and knowledge based on blended learning with guided inquiry model. This research used a pre-experimental with one group pretest and posttest design. Subjects in this research were 32 students of VII-D class in SMPN 14 Gresik in the Academic Year 2021/2022. The data were collected using observations, questionnaires, and test in the form of learning implementation observation sheets, student response questionnaires, attitude assessment sheets, and test assessment sheets as instruments. The results showed that the learning process was good to excellent at every stage and the positive responses from students showed excellent categories. Learning outcomes of social attitudes, including cooperative attitudes, responsibility, conscientious attitudes, and discipline attitudes, were declared complete with a good and excellent predicate mode values. The result of N-Gain test analysis acquire in the medium category so that students learning outcomes experienced a significant increase. Based on the description above, it can be concluded that there is an effect of blended learning-based with a guided inquiry model in improving the learning outcomes on science learning of heat and its transfer.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the perception of Junior High School students on environmental problems of educational input in science learning. The type of this research was quantitative descriptive using survey methods. The number of samples used was 60 students in 8 grade with random sampling. This research used a distributing questionnaires as a data collection technique. The results of this research were the aspects of the state of the facilities and infrastructure in schools was classified as very high, in the aspect of learning facilities at home, the implementation of discipline in schools, student relationships with other school members was classified as high, while there were environmental problems of educational input that affect students in aspects parental education, relationships between family members, home atmosphere, and the learning process in schools was relatively low, resulting in learning difficulties and unsatisfactory results in science lessons.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the effect of interactive multimedia in energy flow topics to improve students scientific literacy. The study was quantitative research with one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects were 29 students of class VII-F SMPN 1 Bojonegoro. The instrument of this study were used observation sheets of learning implementation, student activities, student response questionnaires, and scientific literacy tests (pretest and posttest). The data were collected by observation, test, and questionnaire methods. The results of this study showed that there was an improvement of the students scientific literacy by using interactive multimedia in energy flow topics. The students scientific literacy was improved from pretest to posttest with an average of N-Gain score in medium categories. The improvement of students scientific literacy was supported by well-implemented interactive multimedia’s learning, so that it obtained a positive response from students and they did the scientific literacy activities well. So, it can be suggested that interactive multimedia can be applied to other topics.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze students' science process skills (SPS) during limited face-to-face learning in one of the junior high schools in East Java province. The type of this study was descriptive quantitative research. The subjects in this study involved 35 students in VIII grade. The instrument used a science process skills test sheet. Data collection technique used was test that analyzed descriptively. The results of the SPS analysis of students in limited face-to-face learning obtained a score with a high ability category. The highest skill of students was on the indicator of classifying, while the lowest skill of students was on the indicator of formulating a problem. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the SPS level of students was in the high category so that it can be said that limited face-to-face learning affects the increase in the achievement of students' SPS with high scores.

Abstract

This research aimed to identify students' misconceptions about Respiratory System. This research was survey research involving 64 students of class VIII from two classes at Junior High School 5 Gresik who has just finished studying the Human Respiratory System. Data collection techniques through a test results, interviews, and document analysis includes analysis of science textbooks and student notebooks. The results showed that there were students' misconceptions about the Human Respiratory System consisted of the concepts of respiratory volume, respiratory mechanism, respiratory disorders, respiratory frequency, and respiratory organs. The research concluded that there were misconceptions in the Human Respiratory System with a low category. This was evidenced by the characteristics of various misconceptions with diverse characteristics so that it can be known that the cause of students' misconceptions themselves were the result of incomplete or incorrect reasoning.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of TGT learning model on improvement students’ cognitive learning outcomes in the human digestive system material and students’ responses to the TGT model. This research used a one group pretest posttest design. The data collection techniques used were test method to measure students’ learning outcomes, questionnaire method to determine students’ responses and observation method to measure learning implementation. The results of this research showed that there was an effect of TGT model on improvement students’ learning outcomes marked by the N-Gain score in high category. The implementation of the TGT model obtained responses from stundents with a very positive category and the learning implementation of the TGT model was in the very good category. The conclusion of this research was that the TGT learning model had an effect to improve students’ cognitive learning outcomes in the human digestive system material.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the improvement of students' scientific thinking skills on additive material using problem-based learning model implemented in one of public Junior High Schools in Surabaya. This research design used one-group pretest-posttest. This research involved 36 students of class VIII. This research's data collection methods included observation, tests, and questionnaires. The results showed that the implementation of problem-based learning got the average result from two meetings at 94.5% (very good). The average normalized gain for all students in the medium category. The average normalized gain of students in each sub-indicator of scientific thinking ability, namely: inquiry and analysis, increased in the high category, while inference and argumentation increased in the medium category. The students' responses to problem-based learning got very good results. Therefore, it can be concluded that problem-based learning can improve scientific thinking skills on additive material.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the improvement of critical thinking skills and curiosities of Junior High School students’ in science learning using problem-based learning. This research design used one group pretest-postest. This research involved 33 students of class VIII-A of MTs Miftahul Ulum Magerari in Academic Year 2021/2022. This research’s data collection methods included observation , test, and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used in this research was quatitative statistics by using Wilcoxon signed rank test. The results showed that implementation of problem-based learning can improve critical thinking skills and student curiosities in science learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the improvement of students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills using a guided inquiry learning model implemented in one of the public Junior High Schools in Gresik. This study was a pre-experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects in this study involved 32 students in VII grade. Data collection techniques through a test and observation by applied in the form of written tests and student collaboration skills observation sheets as the instruments. The findings revealed that there was an improvement in the student’s critical thinking skills as evidenced by the average value of the N-Gain score in the high category. The result of the Wilcoxon test showed that student critical thinking skills were significantly better. Students’ collaboration skills were increased at each meeting, from a less collaborative to a very collaborative category. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the guided inquiry learning models implementation improved students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills.
