Abstract

The research aims to analyze the misconceptions that occur in students by applying the four-tier certainty of response index method in learning about pressure material and its application. This research uses descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The participants used in this research were 39 students of class IX-A and 36 students of class IX-C of SMP Negeri 60 Surabaya. The research instrument was a four-tier diagnostic test consisting of four levels, namely questions with one correct answer and three distractors, the level of confidence in the answers, the reasons, and the level of confidence in the reasons. Data collection techniques used were filling out questionnaires and filling in diagnostic tests. The data analysis technique used in this research is descriptive quantitative by looking for the percentage of student misconceptions in each item indicator. From the results of the research, it can be seen that students experience misconceptions in each indicator of the material pressure and its application with an average percentage of misconceptions of 34.1%. This percentage belongs to the moderate category misconception. The highest percentage of misconceptions occurred in question number 14 at 48% with an indicator of the application of Archimedes law and question number 18 at 48% as well, with an indicator of analyzing hydrostatic pressure. Based on the results of filling out the student questionnaire, it can be concluded that the reason the students answered the questions incorrectly was that the initial concepts the students had were wrong. By carrying out this research, the teacher can analyze the misconceptions that occur in students, and use appropriate learning methods not to happen again competencies.

Abstract

The year 2020 becomes a difficult year in the world of education, because the covid 19 pandemic caused the government to conduct Distance Education thus embraced a suitable learning model in The Tutoring, which is a cooperative learning model type Numbered Head Together. Research that applies cooperative learning model numbered head together type on heat material and its displacement aims to improve the learning outcomes of junior high school students. The type of research used was an experiment with the design of One Group Pre-test Post-test Design research aimed at 15 students from 2 different junior high schools. The instruments used include observation sheets, test sheets, and questionnaires and then data analysis using N-gain and Uji-t. The results of the study in the form of increased learning outcomes known from N-gain results obtained an average of 0.39 with a moderate category that showed that the learners had a moderate increase from pre-test to post-test and the results of the T-test was T-count greater than the T-table which means there is a difference from pre-test and post-test with increased learning results. The implementation of learning in this study has also been carried out well with the results of teacher observations of 87%, student observation results of 86%, observations of positive attitudes of 77.5%, and poll results of 87%, thus the research resulted in increased interest in learning judging by its implementation and learning outcomes of learners.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the implementation, the results of student learning evaluation, and the constraints of distance learning assessment of heat material and its online and offline transfer in class VII SMP Negeri 1 Sumberrejo. This research uses descriptive analytical method to describe and analyze a research result. The subjects in this study were each class using a sample of 12 students, class VII H through online distance learning and VII I through offline learning. This research was conducted by analyzing the reliability of the items assisted by the SPSS Cronbach Alfa which consisted of 10 multiple choice questions and 5 essay questions. Based on the results of interviews that have been conducted, at SMP Negeri 1 Sumberrejo learning is done online and offline. From the results of student learning evaluations, the reliability test of online learning assessment instrument questions with offline learning did not provide permanent results because there were obstacles in online learning including not all students had facilities for online learning, teachers had difficulty monitoring student learning progress, limited teacher competence in the use of learning applications, and when the teacher gives assignments not all students collect assignments according to the deadlines that have been given. Meanwhile, the problem with offline learning is that students cannot focus on learning because sometimes the situation and conditions at home are not possible. To overcome obstacles in learning, teachers should be able to manage learning in any circumstances, there is monitoring, guidance and support of parents in the student learning process in the midst of this changing learning implementation.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the validity of SETS-oriented science book for junior high school students in environmental pollutions materials. In this research, researcher uses a quantitative descriptive method and uses validation sheet in the form of questionnaire as data-collection techniques. The questionnaire contains the criteria of material feasibility, language, and presentation. The result of validation gave the material feasibility score 3.9, for the language is 3.6, and the presentation criteria scored 3.9. So, it can be concluded that a science book with SETS-oriented is very well to be used as a learning facility according to the assessment of the validator.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the effectiveness of students worksheet based guided inquiry to facilitate students critical thinking skills by knowledge test and student questionnaire responses. The trial design in this study was a pre-experimental One Group Pretest-Posttest. The instruments used were the pre-test and post-test questions of critical thinking skills and student questionnaire responses. The sample of this study was 38 7th grade students in a school in Surabaya. The results of the critical thinking skills test students obtained an N-Gain score from the indicator gave a simple explanation of 0.79 with high criteria; build basic skills of 0.81 with high criteria; and concluded of 0.76 with high criteria. The results of the questionnaire responses from students showed 93.20% of students gave a positive response to the students worksheets with very effective criteria. Based on the research that has been done, then it can be concluded that students worksheet based guided inquiry get to facilitate students critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The research aims to describe the validity of the PBL-based student sheet of global warming material towards critical thinking skills in grade VII students in junior high school. This type of research studies the development. Step in development activities using the 4D stage (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), but this research is limited to the stage of Develop. The participants of this research are two members of the FMIPA UNESA faculty and a Junior science teacher at junior high school SHAFTA Surabaya as a validator. Data collection techniques for measuring eligibility using poll techniques. The instrument used is a validation sheet for measuring validity, with the assessed aspect being the presented content and language. The data analysis techniques used are quantitative quasi with average and analysis based on the Likert scale. The student sheet can be said to be worthy if the score in all aspects of the validation sheet reaches a percentage of >61%. Data analysis results show the validity of the sheet of students for a content of 89.33% (very decent), and the aspect of the language is 86.67% (very decent). Thus, the conclusion suggests that a PBL-based student sheet of critical thinking skills on global warming matter qualifies as valid and deserves to be used as a learning resource at junior high school.

Abstract

The research carried out aims to describe the validity of the Congklak game on solar system material for seventh grade junior high school students. This research was conducted at SMPN 2 Pungging with a total of 24 students. This research is a development research that is using the ADDIE development model. The resulting data instrument was in the form of a study sheet and a validation sheet. The results of the research on the validity of the Congklak game can be reviewed from the results of the validation sheet and the study sheet that has been filled in by expert lecturers and science subject teachers. Analysis of the results on the validation sheet is obtained an average mode value of 4. The conclusion of this study is the validity of the developed Congklak game consists of several aspects namely the content aspect, linguistic aspects, media presentation aspects, and aspects of the game function get a very decent category used with a feasibility mode value of 4.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the feasibility of the ludo game on substances pressure material to improve students’ scientific literacy skills based on validity, practicality, and effectiveness. This type of research is a developmental research using the ADDIE model. The research design used is one group pretest-posttest design conducted on 32 students of class VIII-I of SMPN 40 Surabaya. The results obtained are based on the validity of the ludo game getting the average percentage of 86.67% with decent category, the practicality of the ludo game in terms of the results of the students' responses obtained an average percentage of 99.73%, the results of the feasibility of learning obtain an average percentage of all phases of 92.59%, then the results of student activities that obtain an average percentage of 87.50%, the effectiveness of the ludo game in terms of the pretest results students get an average of 60.15, while the posttest results obtained an average of 84.30 with mastery learning outcomes of 71.87%, the completeness of the indicators on the posttest obtained results namely in the aspect of science content obtained a percentage of 91.40 %, in the aspect of the science context gained a percentage of 88.28%, and lastly in the aspect of science content obtained a press entage of 83.59%. The percentage increase in science literacy scores through the calculation of N-Gain scores obtained an average value of 0.59 in the medium category. Based on these results it can be concluded that the game of ludo on material pressure substances to improve students' scientific literacy skills is feasible based on validity, practicality, and effectiveness.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the description of the implementation of the science learning assessment carried out by science teachers at Junior High School 01 Gresik during the pandemic Covid-19, to find out the obstacles of science teachers at Junior High School 01 Gresik in carrying out assessments science learning during the pandemic Covid-19, and to find out the right solutions and suggestions for improvement for the implementation assessment of the science learning at Junior High School 01 Gresik during the pandemic Covid-19. The research design used descriptive analysis method with quantitative and qualitative approaches. Subjects in this study were teachers in Natural Sciences subjects at Junior High School 01 Gresik. The instruments used in the study were questionnaires, documentation and interviews. The results in this study were a decrease in the percentage of implementation of the assessment of science learning at Junior High School 01 Gresik from 76.5% in the good category, decreasing to 60.2% with a fairly good category in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. Limitations and obstacles on the implementation of online learning during the pandemic have become one of the main factors in the decrease in the percentage of implementation assessment of the science learning at Junior High School 01 Gresik. These limitations and obstacles include the lack of awareness of students in doing assignments on time, limited tools and materials to carry out practicum from home, not all materials can be practiced at home, and limited aspects that can be assessed from the affective of students during online learning. Efforts and solutions that have been implemented by the teacher at Junior High School 01 Gresik include monitoring students, communicating with student guardians, home visits, and allowing problematic students to use existing devices at school during online learning.

Abstract

The purpose of this research to describe the responses of students in Junior High School toward development of Guided Inquiry on the liquid pressure material. This research uses quantitative descriptive data collection techniques used by questionnaire (questionnaire) after guided inquiry instruction. Respondents were 30 students of class VIII A and 30 students of class VIII B Junior High School of 17 Surabaya. The results showed that all the aspects contained in the student questionnaire responses showed 96% in VIII A with very good category and 90% in VIII B with very good category.
