Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategic role of the Energy and Mineral Resources Office (DESDM) of Bengkulu Province in managing stone mining activities sustainably. Sustainable mining management must not only focus on economic gains and increasing regional revenue (PAD), but also on environmental preservation and the welfare of local communities. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a SWOT analysis approach to identify internal strengths and weaknesses, as well as external opportunities and threats. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with relevant stakeholders and analysis of official documents from DESDM. The results indicate that DESDM’s key strengths include strong legal frameworks and leadership support. However, weaknesses are evident in limited regional regulations, suboptimal cross-sector coordination, and underutilization of digital technologies. Opportunities include the advancement of information technology, support from stakeholders, and potential PAD growth. Meanwhile, threats arise from dynamic regulatory changes and unequal competency levels among mining operators. An aggressive strategy is recommended, focusing on leveraging internal strengths to capture external opportunities through capacity-building programs, regulatory reforms, cross-sector collaboration, and digital supervision systems. This research provides a basis for formulating more adaptive, participatory, and sustainable policies for regional natural resource governance, with the goal of balancing environmental conservation and economic development.

Abstract

The Fish Auction Site (TPI) of Pulau Baai in Bengkulu City plays a significant economic and social role, yet it faces substantial environmental pressures due to intense human activities. This study aims to identify the types of environmental pollution based on affected media (water, soil, and air), and to formulate sustainable environmental management strategies. A descriptive analysis method was employed, utilizing field observations and literature review. The findings reveal that water pollution originates from organic and domestic waste from fish processing and port activities; soil pollution is caused by the accumulation of solid waste and chemical seepage; and air pollution stems from gaseous emissions due to organic matter decomposition. These pollution forms lead to the degradation of water quality, contamination of coastal soil, public health risks, and threats to the sustainability of fisheries resources. Based on the findings, recommended strategies include spatial planning, development of waste treatment facilities, regulatory enforcement, and community education. This study is expected to serve as a reference for environmental policy development in coastal fishery areas in Bengkulu City.

Abstract

Piyeung Health Center is recorded as the health center with the 5th lowest number of visits out of 28 health centers in Aceh Besar District. This is a concern because, although Piyeung Health Center has provided health services for BPJS Kesehatan participants in the PBI category, the low number of visits indicates that there are obstacles that hinder the optimization of the use of these services. This study aims to see the factors that cause the low number of visits at Piyeung Health Center. This study used a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population was 3,394, and samples were taken using the accidental sampling technique of 100 respondents. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-square test using SPSS version 30 with a significance level of 95%. The results of the univariate analysis showed that 88.0% of respondents had a good level of knowledge, 71.0% of respondents had easy accessibility, and 80.0% of respondents reported good health facilities. Meanwhile, 77.0% of respondents considered the actions of officers to be less than good, and 57.0% of respondents felt good family support. Bivariate analysis showed that officer actions (p-value 0.044), accessibility (p-value 0.002), and health facilities (p-value 0.006) had a significant relationship with the utilization of health services, while the level of knowledge (p-value 0.140), employment (p-value 0.222) and family support (p-value 0.078) did not show a significant relationship with the utilization of health services.

Abstract

Complaint management is an important element in improving the quality of health services, especially in health centers that act as the front line of public health services. Even though it has been ISO certified, the Banda Raya Health Center still receives complaints, such as long waiting times, inadequate health center facilities and the attitude of the officers. This study aims to analyze the management of complaints on the quality of health services at the Banda Raya Health Center, Banda Raya District, Banda Aceh City. The type of research used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach, and data analysis using Nvivo. The research subjects were taken using the purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through interviews, documentation, and observations. This research was carried out from December 18, 2024 to December 20, 2024. The results of the study show that the complaint management system is quite good with formal channels such as suggestion boxes, JKN applications, and social media, as well as structured recording and handling of complaints. However, there are still shortcomings in response speed and supporting facilities. The public prefers direct communication because it is considered more effective, even though the complaint process is easy. Research suggests that Puskesmas should increase the speed of response to complaints, improve patient support facilities, and improve the quality of direct communication to increase community satisfaction.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is among the diseases caused by the high rate of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection, especially starting from adolescence. The HPV vaccine is up to 66.2% effective when given before sexual activity, such as to 5th–6th grade girls. However, vaccine acceptance remains low due to lack of maternal knowledge, fear of side effects, and other factors. This is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 144 mothers with daughters in 5th grade in the Sukamakmur Health Center area, Aceh Besar. Data were collected through interviews using a questionnaire and analyzed using univariate tests, Chi-Square, and multiple logistic regression (SPSS 26). The study showed that maternal perception (OR=7.341; p=0.001), family support (OR=6.046; p=0.001), and knowledge (OR=3.357; p=0.001) significantly influenced HPV vaccine acceptance. Knowledge, family support, and maternal perception affect the decision to accept the HPV vaccine, while information exposure does not directly influence acceptance. Sukamakmur Health Center is advised to expand health education on the benefits of HPV vaccination and enhance family involvement.

Abstract

The Unlicensed Mining Activity (PETI) andesite stone in Tasikmalaya Village, Rejang Lebong Regency, has had a significant impact on the local environment, social, and economy. This study aims to assess the environmental degradation caused by PETI, such as changes in topography, damage to vegetation, and water and air pollution. Spatial analysis based on satellite images showed an increase in mining land area from 2.98 hectares in 2014 to 4.51 hectares in 2024, with a growth rate of about 0.45 hectares per year. From the social side, PETI activities cause land conflicts and create economic dependence of the community on the illegal mining sector, although it provides a relatively higher daily income than the agricultural sector. However, PETI does not contribute to local revenue, even potentially causing tax losses of up to Rp240 million per year. This study uses qualitative, quantitative, and spatial approaches through interviews, field observations, and satellite image analysis. The proposed policy recommendations include the legalization of PETI through the establishment of people's mining areas (WPR), rehabilitation of degraded land, strengthening village institutions, and the development of economic alternatives to reduce community dependence on illegal mining. This finding confirms the importance of sustainable management of Natural Resources in order to minimize the negative impact of crates on the environment and society.

Abstract

This study analyzed the quality of borehole water in Green View Sunggal Housing located in a rice field area. This research used a descriptive analytical method with a cross-sectional design. Samples were taken from 25 boreholes through a purposive sampling technique divided into three zones: north (8 wells), middle (7 wells), and south (10 wells). The parameters evaluated included physical aspects (temperature, odor, taste, color, turbidity) and chemical aspects (pH, hardness, Fe, Mn, nitrate, nitrite, chloride). Laboratory analysis was carried out at the Medan State Polytechnic following SNI standards and the APHA method, with statistical analysis using SPSS for Pearson correlation and linear regression. The results showed that the majority of parameters met the standards of Permenkes No. 32 of 2017. The parameters of temperature, odor, taste, hardness, manganese, nitrate, nitrite, and chloride reached a compliance level of 100%. However, there were discrepancies in color (92%), turbidity (84%), pH (64%), and iron content (80%). Samples from the southern zone adjacent to rice fields within a 200-meter radius showed significant problems with acidic pH (5.8-6.4) and excessive iron content (1.12-1.42 mg/L). Statistical analysis revealed significant correlations between well depth, distance from rice fields, and water quality. Distance from rice fields was the strongest predictor for nitrate (R² = 0.475) and iron (R² = 0.374). The study concluded that better environmental management is needed to maintain and improve water quality in the residential area.
