Abstract

Irregular menstrual cycles are commonly experienced by adolescent girls and may be influenced by dietary patterns and nutritional status. This study aimed to examine the relationship between fast food consumption frequency and nutritional status with the menstrual cycle among female students of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. A cross-sectional design was used with a total sample of 129 respondents selected proportionally from each study program. Data were collected using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), nutritional status measurements based on Body Mass Index (BMI), and a menstrual cycle questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using the Chi-Square test. The results showed no significant relationship between fast food consumption frequency and menstrual cycle (p = 0.351), but a significant relationship was found between nutritional status and menstrual cycle (p = 0.000). It is concluded that nutritional status influences menstrual cycle regularity, while fast food consumption frequency does not have a significant association.

Abstract

Heavy metal contamination, especially by lead (Pb) and copper (Cu), is a major environmental issue in aquatic ecosystems caused by industrial, mining, and agricultural activities. These metals are toxic, persistent, and bioaccumulative, posing risks to aquatic life and human health. Various remediation methods have been developed, including physical, chemical, and biological approaches; however, their effectiveness on a large scale remains limited. This study explores the potential of Eichhornia crassipes (water hyacinth) for in vitro phytoremediation of Pb and Cu. Plants were grown in Hoagland solution containing 100 mg/L of each metal. Metal accumulation in plant tissues was measured using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), and chlorophyll content was analyzed with a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that Pb primarily accumulated in the roots, while Cu was more translocated to the leaves. Chlorophyll levels decreased more significantly in Cu-treated plants, indicating higher stress. These findings suggest that E. crassipes is a promising, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly option for the remediation of heavy metal-contaminated waters. The implementation of this technology could contribute to improving environmental quality and reducing the risk of heavy metal exposure to both ecosystems and human health.

Abstract

The period is marked by children who move by standing and high activity. Usually this period is called the golden age where there is a rapid increase in growth and development. The medial longitudinal arch is the largest arch of the foot, normally the longitudinal arc is caused by the pressure of body weight which is divided evenly with the entire sole of the foot. Flat foot is a problem that occurs in the arcus. The impact of children who experience flat feet is pain, balance disorders and walking. Flat foot will cause balance disorders, especially dynamic balance. This study aims to determine whether there is an effect of the combination of curl towels and core workouts on improving dynamic balance in flat feet in preschool children. This study uses quasi-experimental and uses a pre and post-test design. Samples were taken by purposive sampling as many as 66. Respondents will be given interventions in the form of curl towels and core workouts. The research instrument uses the clarke angle test and beam balance. The kolmogorov-smirnov test is used for normality testing, and the wilcoxon test for hypothesis testing. This study was conducted at Kartika Kindergarten and Bhayangkara Kindergarten.

Abstract

Workshops play an important role in supporting the automotive industry, but many small workshops still use manual recording that is prone to errors and complicates operational management. This study aims to design and implement a web-based information system at the AA Motor Workshop in Kembangkuning Village, Purworejo, to improve work effectiveness. The system was developed using the waterfall method, starting from the needs analysis stage to maintenance. Testing was carried out using the Black Box approach, focusing on the main functions of the system, such as customer management, service, stock, reporting, and user authorization. The test results showed that all modules functioned according to needs and no critical errors were found during testing. The implementation of the system had a significant impact, where work efficiency increased by 84%, data accuracy reached 86%, and the speed of the administration process increased by about 40% compared to the previous manual system. All data is now recorded automatically and can be accessed in real-time via a responsive web dashboard. This study shows that digitalization can improve the performance of small workshops, and the system developed can be used as a model for technology adaptation for similar businesses in rural areas.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the performance of the Naive Bayes and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithms in classifying user sentiment towards two popular e-commerce applications in Indonesia, namely Shopee and Lazada. The data used are 40,000 user reviews collected equally from the Google Play Store, 20,000 reviews for each application. The pre-processing process is carried out through the stages of cleaning, case folding, tokenization, stopword removal, normalization, and stemming. Furthermore, weighting is carried out using the TF-IDF method, then classified using Naive Bayes and KNN with a cosine similarity approach. The evaluation results show that in the Shopee application, Naive Bayes produces an accuracy of 84.72% and an F1-score of 81.56%, while KNN produces an accuracy of 84.17% and an F1-score of 82.31%. On the Lazada application, Naive Bayes achieved an accuracy of 82.53% and an F1-score of 79.89%, while KNN obtained an accuracy of 75.04% and an F1-score of 73.20%. Thus, Naive Bayes proved to be superior in terms of classification accuracy and stability, especially on Lazada data. Meanwhile, KNN showed superiority in the balance of precision and recall on Shopee data. This study contributes to the selection of appropriate algorithms for text-based sentiment analysis in the context of e-commerce in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effect of coconut fiber composite thickness on the sound absorption coefficient using a two-microphone impedance tube. The composites were fabricated with thickness variations of 1 cm and 2 cm using the hand lay-up method, with polyester resin as the matrix and coconut fiber as the reinforcement. The tests were conducted at frequencies of 400 Hz, 450 Hz, and 500 Hz. Data processing was carried out using LabVIEW and MATLAB software. The results show that the composite with a thickness of 2 cm exhibited a higher sound absorption coefficient compared to the 1 cm thickness across all tested frequencies. The highest sound absorption coefficient was recorded at 0.175 at 400 Hz for the 2 cm thickness. However, the absorption capability significantly decreased at higher frequencies, particularly for the 1 cm thickness, which showed no absorption at 500 Hz. These findings indicate that coconut fiber has potential as an environmentally friendly sound-absorbing material, especially in the low-frequency range.

Abstract

Blepharoconjunctivitis with corneal ulceration in infants is a rare but significant medical condition. This infection is primarily caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae, a Gram-negative diplococcus that does not form spores. Transmission often occurs from mother to infant through a contaminated birth canal. Neisseria gonorrhoeae adheres to conjunctival and corneal epithelial cells via adhesion proteins, triggering an intense inflammatory response and the release of proteolytic enzymes by immune cells like neutrophils. This process leads to progressive corneal damage. If left untreated, the condition can result in corneal ulceration, perforation, and even blindness. Early detection and effective treatment are crucial to prevent serious complications. The global prevalence of urogenital gonorrhea in 2016 was 0.9% in women and 0.7% in men, with a total of 30.6 million cases worldwide. The WHO reported 82.4 million new infections in adults aged 15-49 years in 2020. In infants, the prevalence was 6 per 100,000 in Canada (2000-2011) and approximately 0.4 cases per 100,000 live births per year in the United States (2013-2017). Symptoms in infected patients include eyelid swelling, conjunctival redness, mucopurulent discharge, and eye tenderness. The primary therapy for gonorrheal infection is ceftriaxone, given intravenously or intramuscularly. Prevention involves routine screening and treatment of STIs in pregnant women and the use of prophylactic eye drops for newborns. This case report details the management of gonococcal eye infection that caused corneal ulceration in a pediatric patient.

Abstract

Analog rice is an alternative food developed from non-rice ingredients to diversify carbohydrate sources. This study examine the physical, chemical, and organoleptic characteristics of analog rice based on fermented corn flour with supplementation of Moringa oleifera leaf flour. The fermentation process on corn flour is intended to improve the functional properties of corn and enhance the quality of analog rice. The product formulation was carried out using a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two factors: the proportion of fermented corn flour to rice flour (60:40, 70:30, 80:20) and sodium alginate concentration (1%, 2%, 3%). Moringa leaf flour was supplemented at 0%, 10%, and 20%. The results indicated that the addition of fermented corn flour decreased brightness (L*) while increasing redness (a*) and yellowness (b*) of the product. Moringa supplementation increased protein and ash content but decreased carbohydrate and starch levels. Based on organoleptic tests, the best treatment was obtained from a combination of 70:30 fermented corn flour to rice flour, 3% sodium alginate, and 10% Moringa supplementation, producing analog rice with characteristics most similar to conventional rice. This study contributes to the development of nutritious and functional analog rice by utilizing local ingredients with great potential to enhance food security.

Abstract

ENSULADE is a blenderized enteral formula made from locally available high BCAA ingredients, including pumpkin, skim milk, and soybeans This study aimed to evaluate its nutritional composition, viscosity, osmolality, flowability, sedimentation, organoleptic properties, and cost estimation compared to commercial formulas. Nutrient content analysis was performed using Nutrisurvey 2007 viscosity test using a viscometer, osmolality test using an osmometer, flowability test and sediment test observed empirically, organoleptic test with hedonic method and price estimates obtained from market survey The energy density of ENSULADE was found to be 1 kcal/ml. Viscosity measurements were 82.13 cP for ENSULADE 1 and 242 cP for ENSULADE 2, whereas the commercial formula was undetectable. Osmolality values were 436 mOsm/kg for ENSULADE 1, 620 mOsm/kg for ENSULADE 2, and 415 mOsm/kg for the commercial formula. Flowability testing revealed slower flow in ENSULADE compared to the commercial product, while sediment testing showed no sediment formation in ENSULADE 1 and 2, unlike the commercial formula which did produce sediment. Organoleptic testing using the hedonic scale indicated overall positive acceptability. The estimated cost of ENSULADE is lower than that of the commercial formula. In conclusion, ENSULADE 1 demonstrated superior results in terms of quality parameters and hedonic acceptance compared to ENSULADE 2.
