Abstract

Language, as a cultural product, not only reflects collective identity but also serves as a medium for the transmission of social values within a society. One form of oral cultural expression among the Madurese people is Ca’ocaan, which contains moral messages, communication ethics and social norms. This study aims to examine the ethnolinguistic meaning of Madurese Ca’ocaan and analyse its relevance as a foundation for the development of counsellor character. This study employs a qualitative approach using a communication ethnography (ethnography of speaking) design, which focuses on the interpretation of language practices within the socio-cultural context of the community. Data were collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews regarding the practice of Ca’ocaan in the Sampang region of Madura. Data analysis was conducted thematically by interpreting the meaning of utterances based on cultural context, speech situations, and local community interaction norms. The research findings indicate that Ca’ocaan expressions, such as “Mon e delem pol-ngompol, jhek kenceng akalengka ka oreng ben jhek kenceng alon-callon mon bereng tak duggeh”, embody values of politeness, self-control, empathy, and social sensitivity, which align with the core competencies of counsellors in the humanistic approach. These findings confirm that Ca’ocaan has the potential to serve as an ethical and pedagogical resource in counselling education based on local culture.

Abstract

This study analyzes the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in digital da’wah content management on the Instagram account @my.binjai managed by the Muslim Youth Binjai community. The focus of this study is to examine how AI is used in producing and managing da’wah content through ChatGPT and AI features in Canva. This study employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The results show that @my.binjai has implemented da’wah management functions, including planning, organizing, directing, supervising, and evaluation. AI was used as a supporting tool for idea generation, initial caption drafting, and visual design references. However, verification and editing were still carried out by the content managers to ensure that the messages remained aligned with Islamic values. This study concludes that AI functions as a supporting technology that improves the efficiency of digital da’wah content production without replacing the human role

Abstract

Family resilience is the main foundation in forming a strong and prosperous society. Various social pressures such as increasing divorce rates, weak parenting patterns, and digital dependence are real threats to family resilience in Indonesia, thus demanding a more contextual and solution-based approach to da'wah. This research aims to analyze the inclusive da'wah strategy of North Sumatra Regional Leader (PW) Salimah in strengthening family resilience in Medan City and identify the impacts and challenges of its implementation. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design; data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive analysis model. This research is based on Hamka's inclusive da'wah theory in Ulfa & Efrina's research, Walsh's family resilience theory in Nafila & Cholil's research, and the perspective of women's roles in education in Ratna's research.  The research results show that Salimah's inclusive, moderate and applicable da'wah strategy implemented through three main programs, namely SALSA (Sekolah Lansia Salimah,Salimah Elderly School), SISTER (Sekolah Terpadu Salimah,Salimah Integrated Mother's School), and SERASI (Sekolah Pra Nikah Salimah, Salimah Pre-Marriage School) contributes significantly to strengthening family resilience in the spiritual, psychological, social and economic dimensions. This research proves that community-based women's da'wah which positions women as agents of change is effective in building family resilience, even though it still faces challenges in the form of limited human resources, fluctuations in participants, and a lack of permanent funding.

Abstract

Abstract: Social support is a crucial factor influencing the success of breastfeeding practices, particularly during the postpartum period, which is characterized by physical and psychological vulnerability. However, the meaning attributed to such support is strongly shaped by the local cultural context. This study aimed to explore in depth the meaning of breastfeeding social support among Banjar mothers within their cultural setting. This study employed a qualitative approach using a grounded theory strategy as part of a mixed-method exploratory sequential design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 15 Banjar breastfeeding mothers selected purposively based on the principle of data saturation, and were analyzed using thematic coding through the stages of open, axial, and selective coding with the assistance of NVivo software. The findings revealed that social support is understood as a multidimensional construct, encompassing emotional support as a source of reassurance, instrumental support as practical assistance, informational support as a source of knowledge, and normative support that may be ambivalent in the form of social pressure. Social support plays a significant role in shaping the continuity of breastfeeding practices, functioning both as an enabling and constraining factor. This study contributes to the development of a conceptual understanding of social support as a culturally grounded and context-dependent construct of meaning, while also highlighting the importance of culturally sensitive approaches in maternal and child health interventions.

Abstract

Conflict among mosque administrators is an important issue in the governance of religious organizations, particularly when it is triggered by financial management, leadership, and differing interests among administrators. Previous studies have discussed mosque conflict and management, but empirical studies that specifically examine the role of the Mosque Prosperity Agency Friendship Forum in conflict management remain limited. This study aims to analyze the role of the Mosque Prosperity Agency Friendship Forum in managing conflicts among mosque administrators in Medan City. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with the main research site at Nurul Islam Mosque, Jalan Karya Number 203, Karang Berombak, Medan Barat District, Medan City. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with two key informants, namely the Chairperson and Treasurer of the North Sumatra Regional Board of the Mosque Prosperity Agency Friendship Forum, and literature study. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that conflicts among mosque administrators include structural, administrative, and interest-based conflicts. The forum plays a role as mediator, facilitator, and assistant through strengthening financial systems, administrative assistance, mediation, and persuasive approaches based on social-religious relations. These findings indicate that conflict management in mosque organizations requires not only technical governance but also institutional strengthening and participatory communication.
