Abstract

The rapid development of educational technology has brought significant changes to science learning, primarily by integrating virtual laboratories. These tools provide interactive and student-centered experiences that are more accessible than conventional labs. This study explores the importance of PhET-based virtual labs in enhancing students' understanding of energy and work concepts in a Basic Science Concepts course, emphasizing their relevance in modern, inquiry-based science education. This research analyzes university students’ perceptions of the usability and quality of PhET simulations used in the course. Using a quantitative survey method, data were collected from 161 randomly selected university students through a Likert-scale questionnaire. The results show an overall satisfaction rate of 71.68%, indicating a positive response categorized as "good." Students particularly appreciated the user-friendly interface and dynamic visualizations that encouraged independent exploration and more profound comprehension of abstract concepts. The study concludes that PhET-based virtual labs are practical supplementary tools in science education. Despite limitations such as reliance on self-reported data and short-term evaluation, the findings highlight the potential of virtual labs to enhance conceptual learning. Future research should investigate long-term learning outcomes and compare virtual, traditional, and blended learning environments to optimize instructional strategies.

Abstract

The low ability of conservation literacy is the main problem currently faced, one of which is caused by an inappropriate learning system. Therefore, contextualized teaching materials are needed to solve this problem. The purpose of this study is to describe whether or not there is an effect of using e-LKPD based on research results on the topic of biodiversity on students' conservation literacy skills, cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects. This study uses a type of quantitative research with the method used is quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. The sample in this study was taken using the slovin method. The data analysis technique used was T-test. In the research, the experimental class used e-LKPD and the control class used e-LKPD developed by the subject teacher. The results shown that:  (1) there is a significant effect on conservation literacy of cognitive indicators (Sig. 0.000), (2) there is a significant effect on conservation literacy of affective indicators (Sig. 0.000), (3) there is a significant effect on conservation literacy of psychomotor indicators (Sig. 0.000). The conclusion of the study is that there is an effect of e-LKPD based on research results on biodiversity on students' conservation literacy skills.

Abstract

The current level of science literacy of students still tends to be low, this happens because of the limited learning media used in the learning process. The existence of learning media can be used as a tool in stimulating students thoughts, attention and abilities. This study aims to develop learning media in the form of website-based e-module that are feasible, effective and practical in improving students science literacy in excretory system material. The method used in this research is Research and Development (RD) with the ADDIE development model. This research was conducted at Taruna Terpadu High School and aimed at class XI MIPA with a total of 25 students and involved 2 biology teachers. The research design was in the form of one group pretest-posttest or using one class as an experimental class. Before being tested, the e-module was validated by media experts and material experts. The results of the assessment by media experts obtained a percentage of 100% with very feasible criteria, while the material experts obtained a percentage of 93% and 92.5% with very feasible criteria. Testing the effectiveness of e-module from the results of the N-gain calculation obtained a value of 0.73 with high criteria. After being tested, practicality testing was carried out through students and teacher response questionnaires. The teacher response questionnaire obtained a percentage of 99.5% with very practical criteria. While the students response questionnaire obtained a percentage of 90% with very practical criteria. The existence of interactive web-based e-module can increase students motivation and learning independence and increase understanding of science concepts by reading, understanding and analyzing science information critically. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the website-based e-module developed is feasible, effective and practical in improving students science literacy on excretory system material.

Abstract

: The development of science learning modules based on local wisdom has become one of the innovative strategies to enhance students' science literacy and preserve cultural values. However, in its implementation, various challenges are still encountered, such as limited educational resources, lack of integration between modern science and local wisdom, and minimal community participation in the development process. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) approach t o ensure transparency and traceability in the literature selection process. From the screening results using the PRISMA diagram, four main articles that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were obtained. The analysis shows that the development of digital technology, supportive educational policies, and interdisciplinary collaboration are the main opportunities in the development of this module. Additionally, recent research trends show a significant increase in the use of interactive multimedia and context-based learning approaches. The results of this research provide insights for educators, researchers, and policymakers in developing more effective and innovative science learning modules based on local wisdom

Abstract

The development of technology in the 21st-century has brought significant changes in the world of education, including the need for more interactive and contextual learning media. One of the challenges in science learning at the junior high school level is the preservation of complex and abstract ecological materials. This research aims to develop an Argument-Driven Inquiry  (ADI)-based science e-book on ecological materials as an innovative solution to improve students' understanding of scientific argumentation concepts and skills. The research method used is Research and Development (RD) with a 4D model (define, design, develop, and disseminate) without disseminate stages. The products were validated by material experts and media experts, and tested for practicality by science teachers and junior high school students. The results of the study show that this e-book meets the criteria of "Very Feasible" in terms of content, presentation, language, and visual appearance. The practicality test also showed the "Very Practical" category with a percentage of 71.42%–100%. These findings show that ecological ADI-based science e-book are feasible and practical to use as an interactive medium that supports inquiry approaches and 21st-century skill development in learning.
