The mission of the International Journal of Literature and Language Studies (IJLLS) is to provide readers with the development of language studies in linguistics and literature. In addition to manuscripts that center on the study, we welcome manuscripts on a wide range of topics relating to the technology used for language development, cultural impact on languages, computational linguistics, and philosophy of language. IJLLS publishes scholarly conceptual, theoretical, and empirical manuscripts on the study of language and focused on literature and linguistic analysis and development. Submissions to the journal should be readable and understandable by a wide audience. Manuscripts should therefore also focus on analysis or illustration of the issues covered, rather than merely providing a mathematical or technical coverage, which would be more suitable for a specialist journal. All manuscripts are submitted and reviewed electronically. We provide our published authors with both a quality publication and the widespread readership that comes from publishing all manuscripts online within a few weeks of acceptance. This approach ensures that published works are read and cited by the widest possible audience.

Abstract

This article examines the theoretical foundations of code-switching in sociolinguistics and Internet discourse. The study analyzes the evolution of the concept of code-switching from Roman Jakobson’s theory of communication to contemporary sociolinguistic approaches developed by Blom and Gumperz, Poplack, Fishman, and Myers-Scotton. Particular attention is paid to the role of code-switching in digital communication, where multilingual users actively combine different linguistic and semiotic resources, including languages, registers, emojis, GIFs, and memes. The paper discusses the main types of code-switching, including situational, metaphorical, inter-sentential, intra-sentential, and intra-word switching, as well as their communicative and social functions. The analysis demonstrates that code-switching in Internet discourse serves not only as a linguistic phenomenon but also as an important tool for expressing identity, managing interpersonal relations, conveying emotions, and participating in global digital communities. The findings highlight the significance of code-switching as a key mechanism of communication in multilingual online environments and contribute to a deeper understanding of language behavior in contemporary digital discourse.

Abstract

This article examines the efficacy of communicative activities in enhancing speaking abilities among primary school English learners. Employing a qualitative study approach that integrates literature analysis, classroom observation, and teacher interviews, four primary techniques—role-play, information-gap activities, communicative games, and task-based collaborative projects—were analysed. A four-week intervention with 78 pupils yielded significant enhancements in fluency, confidence, vocabulary utilisation, and spontaneous speaking. The results show that communicative activities can generate meaningful, age-appropriate chances for engagement and greatly help spoken language development when there is enough assistance. Suggestions and effects on teaching practice are spoken about.

Abstract

This article analyzes the comparative typology of grammatical categories in English and Uzbek languages. Abstract

This paper explores the linguocultural and cognitive features in depicting the XIX century realist period in Charles Dickens’s Hard Times and Elizabeth Gaskell’s North and South. The research focuses on how linguistic expressions, conceptual metaphors and narrative strategies shape cultural perceptions and cognitive models in those novels. The paper applies linguocultural analysis to identify key concepts, such as, fact and fancy, and north and south. At the same time, a cognitive linguistic approach is used to examine character development and conceptual transformations. The findings reveal that both novels serve as linguistic and cognitive representations of industrial society, reflecting contemporary ideological conflicts through character discourse and narrative structure

Abstract

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed language-related professions, particularly translation and interpreting. While considerable research has focused on machine translation and simultaneous interpreting technologies, the implications of AI for consecutive interpreting remain underexplored. This article investigates the role of AI in consecutive interpreting, examining its influence on interpreter training, terminology management, speech recognition, note-taking support, and performance evaluation. Employing a qualitative literature-based analytical approach, the study synthesizes current research from interpreting studies, educational technology, and artificial intelligence. The findings indicate that AI enhances interpreter preparation, training efficiency, and linguistic resource management. However, concerns regarding cognitive dependency, contextual inaccuracies, ethical issues, and diminished critical thinking persist. The study proposes a human-centered AI integration framework for interpreter education and argues that AI should be regarded as a complementary rather than a substitutive technology. The novelty of this research lies in its interdisciplinary examination of AI specifically within the context of consecutive interpreting and its conceptualization of AI literacy as a core competence for future interpreters.
